The Red Death Is Definitely An Alpha, If She Wasn't, She Wouldn't Be Able To Send Out A Homing Signal To Call All The Dragons To Her, Including Toothless Himself.
Yeah as I've mentioned prior, not the proudest of my videos, was a script error wanted to discuss how strong of a alpha she was, they're is defiantly gimpses of that in the video i just wrote the script wrong based on a title i forgot to fix, clearly urecgonised until it was too late.
I feel like the loud deep buzzing hum sound heard in her nest might be similar to the strange humming sound bewilderbeasts makes when they controls other dragons,though not as refined,controlling emotions instead of controlling minds to make sure they at least won't willingly attack
I think any dragon that can command and protect othet dragons can be considered an alpha. Some species have even their own alphas like speed stingers dramillions and singetails.
I've never heard of anyone questioning if she was an alpha or not, as she very obviously is. There's two kinds of alphas within the HTTYD universe, there are the simple "leader of a pack" alphas, then there are actual alpha *species* of dragons. Toothless, as far as say at the end of HTTYD2, would be the "leader of the pack" alpha. He earned the respect of the other dragons and they made him essentially, their leader; their alpha. He still isn't technically an alpha dragon/species though, as he has no actual "control" over them and has no say over other dragons outside of his little pack. Bewilderbeast and Red Death however, would be alpha *species*, where they can legitimately control and/or enslave all kinds of dragons not limited to their species or current group. While bewilderbeasts have the ability to actually mind-control other dragons, they're still relatively peaceful by nature and good alphas. The Red Death still can control other dragons too but more out of fear of being eaten, and she essentially can enslave them. Her fear factor is the main driving force that when bends dragon's wills over to her, but this doesn't mean she isn't and alpha. She is indeed an alpha dragon, queen of her nest and just an alpha species in general, able to control others even outside her flock and expand. Dragons like the alpha speedstingers or screaming deaths are only pack-alphas, only able to have control over their own packs that are only made up of their own species, such as an alpha speedstinger only being the alpha amongst his own pack of speedstingers, or a screaming death getting the alpha title amongst it's pack of whispering deaths due to it's genetic mutation making it bigger and more formidable. There is not exactly an "alpha of all dragons in the world" despite what the hidden world or anything might make you think. Not going to delve too much into that apart from it being a very significant, massive plot-hole, that Toothless "magically" became Alpha of every dragon in the entire world, offscreen, for no reason at all apart from giving the excuse to have the ending remove all dragons from the world.
My statement of the the divisiveness of the Red Deaths Alpha credibility comes from discussion I've seen on reddit and other platforms in the past, as you say i agree with you with her being an alpha species and clearly a alpha but i just used data to provide counter evidence for potential reasons for why she may not have been a powerful Alpha, which on reflection probably should've have been the title of the video, something like 'How Strong Was The Red Deaths As A Alpha?' Though i do stand with the evidence i provided, well the majority of it, i still wanted to make a pros and cons kind of argument of Her Being a Alpha, to debate the fact she may be a alpha species but to what extent. But i do agree with you on the Hidden World's Plot Holed excuses and the over powering Toothless' alpha command for a pretty love hate ending, though i should've probably been more specific and used the world alphas definition to describe the characteristics that the red death shares to be one and the others she might not posses to close up on how strong or good of a alpha she was. When making the video i wrote the title and wrote a analysis for it but didn't really in reflection actually look over the logistics of my arguments and in a pretty numb minded action forgot to write the basic information into my script that i should've had, even if after making the video i realised this too late.
That all makes sense, also I really do admire the lengths you've gone through to aquire data for both pros and cons of the argument. I'm really glad you're making HTTYD videos; there hasn't been a lot of good httyd content for a while, so thank you for delivering.
im pretty sure this red death was stated as a titan wing red death (my memory is crap so correct me if im wrong qwq) but if it is a titan wing, it could be an ability they gain as some titan wings gain abilities when turning into one (i think, again crap memory) so it is possible that if that red death is a titan wing that she gained the alpha ability, being so large and intimidating
Slightly off topic but why do people say the red death is evil? She cant swim like the bewilderbeast so fish is off the menu and imagine the amount of food something that big needs, only villainous thing i see is her being a tyrant of a leader but eh

I think we should just say she is an alpha, and that maybe she different from the Bweilderbeast because she's a different type of dragon. So maybe the Red Death and the Bweilderbeast are both alphas, they just don't work the same because they're different types of dragons and could be different types of alphas.
I believe the reason why she couldn't control them as well was because she is the queen but there is still questions like how did she become an alpha and if she was the last of her kind and if you pay attention the alpha in how to train your dragon race to the edge they said he was the king not the alpha so that's not a fair argument
Maybe just like in real life, “alphas” are an incorrect interpretation of animals societal structures. Sorta like how irl the idea of alpha wolves has been disproven as nonsense for years, maybe it’s just a misinterpretation of how this sorta stuff works
