- LMS 45690 Leander was the motive power for the Railway Touring Companies railtour The Scarborough Flyer from Manchester Victoria to Scarborough and back again . The Jubilee is seen climbing the fearsome 1 in 49 bank out of Manchester Victoria at Miles Platting in awful weather but sounding superb with 47746 on the rear . The last location near Chinley again in less than ideal weather sees 45690 going well now without the class 47 that was detached at Heaton Norris Junction. Apologies for the rain getting onto the camera lens especially in the last two shots as the rain was right into the camera . The driver of the unit in the first shot got a yellow and then double yellow but I think he stayed put to watch the Jubilee storm towards him . Thanks to Nige for the company and the crack today .
Superb, Steve, who could ask for more! Excellent captures, despite the weather, of Leander putting on a great show both with and without diesel support. Kind regards, Bob.
Thanks Bob , bit wet but very entertaining to see her working hard . Steve
A really superb effort and great exhaust too.
Thanks John , it was worth the four am start time 😂
Hi Steve, Great shots,Weather not too good , ...Dave
Super job and nice video Steve, great sound :)
Thanks Simon, she did sound good I must admit 👍
Brilliant video Steve and a superb performance from Leander and her crew with 11 on and wet rails - not even a hint of a slip - well worth being out in a downpour to witness. Thanks mate!
Thanks Ken , it was a cracking show from 45690 as I’ve watched a video of her departing Man Vic and the 47 was doing nothing really so some effort from the Jub . Regards Steve
What a performance from this old lady Steve, great coverage in what were trying conditions.
Thanks Bob, it was some climb especially with the 47 not really doing much just a shame the rain was right at the lens for the last shots .
Wonderful sounds .... I see you had your assistant out again !!! ..... Andy
Thanks Andy, lovely noise from the Jubilee yes and there’s no show without Punch lol
Super video footage of the 'Jubilee' working hard Stephen and very well captured by your camera.
Cheers - Allan.
Thanks Allan, the weather made it difficult at times but good to see the Jubilee in fine form 👍
Wonderful video out there Steve. Nice to see Leander steaming again, especially coming through the fields and the bridges you know. Thanks for sharing this my friend. Ta thanks ... Josh
Thanks Josh , that was an impressive climb up the bank as the 47 wasn’t helping that much I thought 👍
Brilliant video Steve. Superb performance up the climb at Miles. Great clips at Chinley. Hope you didn’t get to wet. Plenty of exhaust. Seem to be popular locations as a acw was there. Kind regards C&A
Thanks C&A, yes I had been talking with Austin the night before about the shot at Miles P and Chinley so no coincidence really lol 😂
Excellent Steve despite the weather.
Thanks Geoff, just a shame the weather forecast was right but still a good day filming. Steve
excellent video 3 great shots 👍👍
Thanks Barry, testing conditions but all good in the end 👍
No need to apologize for the rain on the lens Steve - considering the conditions you did a cracking job!
Thanks Bob , the weather wasn’t the best but the sight and sound was well worth it we thought 👍
Great stuff, Steve, and the rain didn't spoil the sound - or the exhaust!!
Thanks Alan, the rain made for decent exhaust like you say but it was just a shame the rain was right at the cameras at Chinley but hey ho .
Excellent Steve, worked out very well and sounding great, worth the early start so what's a little rain lol.
Thanks Nige , great sounds so it was worth a soaking I thought 👍
Great shots. I saw it powering through Davenport.
Thanks for the kind comment. Hope you got a good shot at Davenport .
Good one, Steve!
Thanks Alan, good day out and home for elevensies 👍
Very good performance in very unfavourable conditions, and the 47 wasn't giving very much of a shove at Miles Platting.
Thanks Andrei, it was a superb show from the Jubilee as like you say not much help from the 47 if any .
Very good Steve, nice to see the different views. I thought the second camera shot at Chinley worked well. I think you'll agree it was worth getting wet for
Thanks Austin, yes things worked well even with the ghastly unit stuck in the shot. The angle at Chinley in the field worked well just a shame the rain wasn’t coming from behind.
At least it's nice not to have to worry about fire risk!
Excellent video Steve, shame about the weather. Well done 🤓
Thanks Anthony, less than ideal weather but it made for a good exhaust 👍
Poor weather, Steve, but well worth it I would say. Good effort on Miles Platting with the 47 not doing a lot. Keith
Thanks Keith, it was a superb performance I thought especially in that weather. Regards Steve
A great performance! I thought to begin with that she was going to have banking assistance for the whole trip, but it must just have been to get the train started up the bank?
Thanks Ron , can’t blame the powers that be in leaving the 47 on for the 1 in 49 especially in those conditions but 45690 was working hard with little assistance from the rear . The plan was for the 47 to come off at Heaton Norris Junction I believe. Steve
TheStephengthompson Yes, Steve, on a 2nd listen, it’s obvious that the ‘47’ is doing no more than ‘ticking over’!
This is what steamtraction has to be, is'n it? Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thanks GJ , pleased you enjoyed the video. Steve
Liked and subbed hope you do as well excellent video for sure
Thanks James, much appreciated 👍
Superb scenes Steve and a great effort by you in those conditions. Regards, Jeff.
Thanks Jeff , Miles Platting was ok it was just the Chinley shot that was a pain with the wind right into the lens sadly.
