This is pretty cool technology, since the prescription Transitions that I wear do not trigger while driving (minimal UV through the windshield). It would be fabulous to be able to push button my glasses to darker tint. Hopefully this technology will speed up to the mainstream optical centers. Meanwhile, I am stuck with the over the glasses granny sunglasses.

@@falxonPSN Yes, I had a pair of prescription glasses with sunglass piece that magnetically attached, but I found that there was a reflection because of the small gap that was annoying while driving. I just think that having an integrated darkening that I can control would be a game changer.

I don't know what we would do without you. I'm being serious too, let me explain: I will never buy these, no real point in them for me, BUT, your reviews are always so genuine that it's impossible not to watch your videos even when not interested in the item you are reviewing just due to how genuine your reviews are, they aren't biased at all, you don't hype something up that's less than stellar just for a sponsor, your reviews I feel are sincere, which these days on UA-cam, are VERY hard to come by. I received my Dusks a few weeks ago after I had to change from the dusk with blue light, I think I have photophobia and need to wear sunglasses most of the time and sometimes even inside because of fluorescent lights and these glasses make a real difference and just wearing them in no tint mode is really good and yes being able to change at the push of a button is amazing, I don't really use the audio because I usually use my ear buds but I've used them for calls and they have been nice and clear with no complaints from the other side.

I was thinking the same thing! I have pretty bad light-sensitivity, so these would be a super cool thing for me so I don’t have to switch between glasses, or deal with too-dark lenses when it’s not as bright out, etc. Or wait for my UV-tint-glasses to clear up when I go inside. But I have prescriptions and don’t wear contacts. So they’re not really an option for me.

According to Ampere's website, the lenses are made of plastic. Just FYI, it is extremely rare to find glasses or sunglasses made of glass in the U.S. because they are very dangerous even in seemingly minor accidents -- getting hit in the face with a beachball could easily send you to the ER!

    • @lunavixen015
      @lunavixen015 2 роки тому

Chances are the lenses are plastic, the website says they're polarised TAC lenses, so pretty sure that's a form of plastic lens as that form is also used in kids sunglasses. Battery life is variable depending on if you use the audio functions, if you don't approximately 7 days with tint pairing. if you do, about 4 hours. So the battery powers both.

I suppose in 20 years we'll not be looking through lenses anymore but rather viewing images projected directly onto our retinas. We'll be able to see UV and IR, maybe even radio, plus we could zoom and record just by thinking about it.

If this is the 90's brick cell phone moment, give it a few years and these will be the new Apple/Samsung tablets. Small hand remote with a draw pad for the thumb with a push down click. Won't THAT be a fun driver to deal with? haha...

We had similar glasses/goggles in the USAF. Our pilots would wear the goggles in case of nuclear war. They would turn black in case of an attack, protecting the pilot from flash blindness

Interesting but some old school technology stuff just needs to be left alone..nice pair of glasses standard 70-100 dollars will last a life time..unless you lose them or break them..I'n that note I rather none of them but in the case i rather lose a cheaper price glasses 😆 great video as always 👍

An embarrassing amount of Googling found dumb-glasses with this feature for both $20 and $250, with the quality varying accordingly. Sadly, nobody seems to use this technology for mid-range glasses (nor for prescription glasses, though etint "solves" this problem with a clip that you can use to attach your glasses).

They use photochromic lenses for prescription glasses instead, which tint depending on how much light there is. I'm wearing glasses with Transition lenses, and I've become so used to them I get surprised at how dark my glasses are if I take them off outside.

Really enjoyed your review. I'd have never thought about spending that much money on sunglasses (I've lost untold count of $20 sunglasses over the years to - whereverthehellIveleftthem - but the feature set AND - that they've got a finder feature makes me more likely to buy something like this. I DO like the tinting feature a LOT. there are days when i'd like lesser tint and having options is an almost-instasell. Thanks again!

I would buy these if they were prescription, slightly thinner, and could be used as regular glasses with zero tint/clear as well as sunglasses.

I have issues it’s a wide nose bridge. This causes almost any plastic frame to sit too high and I can usually fit my finger between the glasses frame and my nose bridge. Although these are really interesting I probably would never consider then because of this.

These would be cool for people with prescription lenses, if they could make the lowest level clear. It's would save us from carrying around two sets of glasses, (or waiting a while for the UV adjusting glasses to go back to normal.) Other than that price is an issue, but prescription glasses are not exactly cheap either, could cost a few hundred, after you choose a frame you like, then add on extras.

Can the tint levels be adjusted by using the button only and not having the app? Do they have options for prescription lenses? Can you take calls on them? If so, how does it sounds on the receiver’s end?

  • @mikeoxmall7917

On the opposite side to the buttons they should have a single button to just go between light and dark so you don't need to get your phone out

Why is there an app when the glasses buttons are literally on your face in arms reach? The button is closer and quicker than pulling out your phone, opening an app, having to sign into said app and forgetting your password so having to go look it up in the secret place, then finally signing into the app to change the strength of the tint.

Welding helmets have had similar tech for years. They are clear until you start welding than they get dark automatically.

The darker upper area is like a car windscreen, the sun is high in the sky which you need to block out, whilst you look through the clearer lower section in front of you.
