    Best way I ever heard someone describe Amazing Yamaguchi is that they aren’t figures so much as they are puzzles…once you figure out how to work with it, you can do some awesome poses, but once you have it you gotta leave it…it’s not something to actually play with. I enjoy mine but it does have its downfalls. I display all my Revoltechs with the stands never without. 🤙🏻

    I have the old Captain America and Magneto ones and I can confirm, trying to pose them out is just a mess. They fall apart as well. Not as easily as that venom, but I was pretty sure they were bootleg until I found out they weren't. Just bad designs and bad quality control. It's a shame too because I love how chonky they are.

    This Venom looks horrible in person with all the massive gaps, which apologists will ignore. I mean, sure, it looks great in photos provided you take the shot from certain angles but in-hand, it never doesn't look like crud, because our human anatomy/peripheral vision prevents us from avoiding the bad bits.

      @owene2530 7 місяців тому +7

      @updatedude 7 місяців тому

      @@owene2530 First off, I respect your opinion and I agree with it to an extent. Second, I'm not trying to be argumentative.
      Here's my counterpoint. Of course, there will be people who'll like the figure. And it's not as if it doesn't have some redeeming qualities. It looks great in photography from certain angles.
      But while toys are a subjective thing, this figure, is as near as objectively bad as can be, for a subjective subject matter.
      Let me clarify/expand. Let's take G1 Transformers toys. Many of the old toys were "bricks" that didn't even resemble the show characters, yet, thousands, if not millions of people still love them. And there's nothing wrong with that. But it doesn't change the fact that they're bad by modern standards. With some being bad even by their era's standards.
      Objectively, they're bad. But subjectively, they're loved. This Venom is objectively baaaaad. It has some good points. But it falls apart, a bunch of the joints are weak in that they can't hold their respective body part up, it is gappy as all heck when posed, and while I admire the gutsiness of such an experimental pec-joint, it breaks up the spider emblem.
      All that said, you do you. Love what you love.

    From experience, that loose torso is going to create a problem with the painted white spider on the chest. The ab portion scrapped part of mine off, just because he was too top heavy and the waist flops all over the place. He needs a much more solid core in terms of engineering.

      The war machine and iron man figures are actually the dopest ones. They have awesome accessories and the poses they get in with the accessories is amazing. The Deadpool one is also great and so is the Wolverine. Outside of those 5 (cable being the fifth) you’d probably be better off buying mafex figures instead. The Bleeding Edge Iron Man & the Carnage figures are considered great in my opinion. What's weird with Revoltech is that they all look so goofy & overexaggerated that they only look good in action poses, but I'd give Bleeding Edge Iron Man a pass and Carnage is really great, he looks overexaggerated but still looks good in standard calm "vanilla" poses...

      I have the AY Cable and I love the way he looks. The sculpt is so dope. BUT I never pull him out to pose anymore because it just falls apart in my hands. Really disappointing. I have 10 AY figures. 7 out of the 10 have loose joints in some form with my Cable being the worst - he can’t hold anything past a regular vanilla pose. Flash, Superman and Bleeding Edge Iron Man all have tight joints and look incredible. All the rest have a leg that separates at the knee or a shoulder that is constantly coming out or a loose/fragile hip joint etc. In the end I really like AY figures and they do seem to be getting better with joint quality but it is still very frustrating to have these issues on figures that are supposed to be collectors items and demand premium prices. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Also the hip to leg joints on my figure doesn’t look like his. I think he bought a knockoff and the guy who sold it didn’t say anything about it. The only thing that was wrong with mine was that I found the shoulders to be too slidie and weird. That’s a suspect figure he has…

    I collect vintage and modern megos and I've learnt to repair/paint and customise them and all dc/marvel legends figures too.
    My point is,,if I came across this I'd pin/glue it to the joints,for me it's all part of the fun.
    But yeah,though I see it as a challenge shouldn't have to.
    When I saw the beginning with it on top of each other,I'd glue it like that paper mache or sculpting clay onto a base and let it set,repaint it and make it look liquefied venom.

    For monster Venom I'm happy with the Marvel Legends Eddie version. If you want original comic Eddie go with the Mafex. Most of my Venoms are Marvel Legends and I like them just fine, but the Mafex is on another level. The Yamaguchi Venom is floppy and I just didn't care for the aesthetic after having it in hand. Though I kinda feel that for all the Yamaguchi figures. They have this weird pointy overly exaggerated look to them over their normal appearance.

    Reminds me of the X-Force Deadpool. Great looking figure but his damn leg and arm kept coming off. And his back piece to hold the swords doesn’t stay on

    Wow that sucks. It must have been pricey too to cause such a reaction. That sucks getting burned like that.

    I can vouch for you on this. I had the exact same experience as you. 20 minutes fn' around with it, I put all the parts in a ziplock and tossed it to the side.

    I was broken hearted to get a Hatsune Miku figure knock off that can't stay together even a little, but the real ones are too expensive. Now I just have some small knockoff Miku statues and that's fine. Love Venom but it looks too technical for my taste.

    I bought their Spider-Man figure... It felt apart over and over it's annoying. Everything is attached together with hopes and prayers.
    I remember displaying the Spider-Man figure and when I came back to look at it, the eyes popped out.
    Their brand of figures are so experimental that it feels like they don't care about the fun factor and quality

    I’ve been close to ordering the KO off Amazon a couple times as it looks incredible. Videos like this keep me away, especially since a KO would probably be worse

    Looks like a regular Yamagucci to me. I had a Spider-Man Yamagucci and I did bought another one eventually (a KO) but only to use the joints and hands in a custom but I've never got a Yamagucci 'for keeps'.
    They're all awful...

    I bought a revoltech carnage action figure about 5 years ago…. it 2 was the WORST action figure I have ever purchased….. I own over a thousand action figures in my collection and that carnage was the worst! Next time bro just ask your fans who are quality companies 2 purchase from….
    We won’t lead u astray!
    P.S. ( I hope you kept your receipt!)

    Oof, that sucks. I know a lot of people prefer Japanese import figures... But they are more expensive and LESS durable than American toys. I always feel like I have to be super careful with them, just yesterday I accidentally broken Sailor Venus(I collect Figuarts Sailor Moon, sue me!) wrist-peg because I forgot it was a Japanese fig and I pulled with all my strength, lol.
    But Bring-arts is the worst. They are super expensive and they just fall apart. My Luminary One's arm just refuses to stay in the torso, and the OTHER arm keeps disconnecting from the elbow-ball joint whenever I move it. I could've purchased three Marvel Legends with the same money, and they probably wouldn't be falling apart like him. I wanted to purchase Cloud, but I've heard from more than one person that his feet refuse to stay on their pegs.
    MEDICOS figures also use these ugly ball-joints for the arms and legs, and... yeah, if you play with the figure it comes apart.

    I remember buying the revoltech metal gear solid Raiden circa 2017 and this was the most expensive figure I had bought at the time. When it turned up and I tried to play with it out of the box it just fell apart and the movement was so clicky. I will never go near a yamaguchi figure ever again!
