I definitely think you should combine the two channels. People are here to see you and listen to what you have to say, I don't tune in just to learn about products, I want to hear from you.... and I think a lot of people feel that way.

You perform a public service by being honest and real about what your life is like. The pernicious Instagram images of the perfect life, the filtered face, the perfect body and clothes, the perfect mom, the fabulous vacations, etc etc are toxic and destructive. Certainly do whatever you need to do to make it better for yourself, but also try to be kind and generous to yourself. You live a life of complexity, something a creative person often craves but it can sort of collapse now and then. You are absolutely lovely under any circumstances.

A wise man once told me that when we finally get to the point where we are asking for advice on a topic, our hearts already know the answer to our questions.
I think you should write each of your options on bits of paper, set them on the table in front of you, concentrate hard for a moment, and then pick one up. The moment you pick it up, you will know what method to use, whether it is the one in your hand or one on the table, your gut instinct will kick in.
Trust your gut. After all, you're the one who has to tolerate your decision day in and day out. It might as well be a decision that lights up Your world. If your world is illuminated because you are happy with your choices on your own terms, you will light up ours by default.
You're doing a beautiful job. Whatever path you choose will simply perpetuate that. xx

I think you should do what works for YOU as we will be fine and follow along regardless. Having the titles be self explanatory would be marvellous for those who have a preference. I would just say Ruth, please give yourself small goals as you go along....like cleaning out your underwear drawer and/or donating the maternity jeans. Success breeds success in these little ways but it’s all a journey my dear so try not to give yourself lofty ephemeral goals like “eating better” or “doing exercise” . Maybe try a pantry clean out and stock up on things that will help you: frozen veg and fruit, canned exotic veg, legumes and fancy tomatoes that will excite you when it comes time to cook. Find one online exercise you think you could try even once in a room by yourself or research and then experiment with different physical activities until you find something you love. Hope I don’t sound too preachy but small, concrete changes will buck you up. ❤️🇨🇦

What a lovely video, feels like listening to a friend sharing her thoughts, love it! I just wanted to say that possibly how you are feeling with life in general could be attributed to your grieving for your Dad, so please be kind to yourself. That sadness, together with sleep deprivation would make the loveliest of people grumpy! I think this is a transition time for you in lots of ways, so perhaps gentle, gradual changes is the best approach? Combining the two channels makes sense, and I think the 'labelling' of content would be a good approach. Look after yourself Ruth, take care and make sure your treat and pamper yourself as well as looking after your lovely family - and if the occasional magnum makes you happy, well good for you!! Love and hugs xx

We've gotten more Mr. AMR in this one than in all previous glimpses/sound utterings prior! I have been in a treading water phase for almost two years, and it is dangerous because one loses oneself amid all of the necessary activities and obligations to a degree that can feel scarily _permanent_ . My sympathies. Do whatever you need to do to regain balance and restore sanity to your life, Ruth, including harmonizing the channels. The one tip I can give you is to start NOW, making easy, incremental changes in diet, exercise, rest, work, family nurturing behavior as you encounter them. When you do or see something that irritates/frustrates you, think about one thing you can do about that immediately to improve it, and do it. Good luck! TFP : )

I think it's very common and very easy to feel overwhelmed in today's world. My best advice is to streamline, simplify and organize as much as possible. Whether it's clothing, specific pantry items, children's toys, excess PR goodies or additional social media platforms... simplify and organize whatever "stuff" that clutters up our environments, our lives, and causes unnecessary stress!
Needless to say, combining both channels certainly gets my vote. I enjoy all aspects of what Ruth Crilly/A Model Recommends/The Uphill has to share, so I don't see any issues whatsoever. For those that have issue of not wanting to watch certain videos or read certain blogs, keeping everything clearly and specifically labeled should solve that easily enough.
I also fully believe in getting assistance with anything that makes our quality of life better, if it is something you can comfortably afford! Whether the assistance is someone to watch the children, clean the house, weed the garden, mow the lawn, wash and wax the car, iron the clothes or deliver the groceries... wherever you can find additional gifts of time with your family, or time necessary to get your work accomplished or time to pursue other things you deem important, is paramount. Simplify and organize wherever you can reasonably simplify and organize. A chaotic environment causes a chaotic mind and additional stress. Less is often so much more!

Sounds like you need some headspace! Some proper you time that isn’t child or work related to really decide what you’re going to focus on. A weekly yoga class sounds like a good idea! I boxed up all my top big & maternity clothing, got rid of anything I was never going to wear again in a million years, and stored all my “too small but want to wear” clothing so it didn’t make me depressed! I then got a personal shopper to help me create a post baby capsule wardrobe that I loved. Being more comfortable in my new wardrobe pushed me to make my body better so I could eventually get back into my “too small clothes.” Im now pregnant again so back in my maternity clothes, but I’m definitely doing it again after. Also you should definitely combine your sites. You’re one person, most of us love all of you, those that don’t can pick and chose what they read! Excuse the essay, you’re doing great! X

I have been away for awhile and tuned in to your channel and remembered what I always liked about you--your absolute relatableness (is that even a word?). It is so refreshing and lovely. I am also struck by the intelligence of my fellow subscribers and what sound advice they give. As someone else said, people tune in to see YOU, not products, and that is absolutely true for me. So combining your channels is, I think, a brilliant idea, especially if it streamlines your life.

You are so stunningly beautiful and are lovely and charming and so very good as a lifestyle influencer! Just remember you are probably spending more than 80% of your time worrying about less than 20% of what really matters. While we don't see the mister, it is pretty clear you have a wonderful relationship and the only advise I would ever give you or any one else is do what is in your heart. Whenever I watch your videos, I feel as though I've had a chat with a friend, weather it's reviewing a makeup product, watching a vlog, chatting about food/diet/home decor, or talking about babies and pets. I love your chatty videos and enjoyed the wander round your beautiful home. I'm in a similar place with the whole clothes/exercise/diet thing. Just done the height v waist measurement (piece of string to measure your height, waist should be no more than half that length). I'm sure you are fine but it had me realising "things have got to change" and yes, no more buying biscuits so I can't eat them!!

Best video ever, rang so many bells with me it kept making me giggle. Definitely merge the two channels, do whatever gets you through happily and safely (pretty much my motto since children!). I have two special needs girls and I’ve done a lot of organising and rethinking exactly like you’re saying here to keep me sane and make things workable instead of just surviving all the time. Oh wow everything you describe here is so very relatable to me. I have three kids under five, the youngest 5 months and I feel exactly like trying to keep my head just above the surface. Taking care of the kids and home has been physically so exhausting, in combination with constant lack of enough sleep! I have a plan too. Need to take time for myself. For the past three weeks I have had a nanny once a week for a few hours so that I can go to physiotherapy to take care of my back. And I have booked my first appointment to a personal trainer. Because I hate the gym and think this is the only way I can commit to training and taking the time to do it! I also need to eat less chocolate and more healthy food, here Ithink the trouble is also because I don'tdedicate time for planning my own meals. I will try your idea and plan a weekly menu! One thing I have done after my now two year old was born and which might be helpful for you too is dramatic - really dramatic like everything that had no added value to our life had to go like minimalist approach - decluttering. It is easier to manage the home and everything when there is less stuff.

Yes, I definitely think you should combine the channels. I remember you saying you like to be in control so you don't want anyone to help you organize, but I have an idea that worked for me. My house took on a life of it's own and I couldn't seem to get it together. My niece said let me work with you, that it would be fun. So she came over every Tuesday night for six weeks and she was right! It was fun being with her. We cleaned out and organized everything and I feel like a cloud has lifted!

Ruth, I subscribe to both of your channels. I was an AMR follower first, then subscribed to the Uphill out of empathy due to my own infertility journey (and the fact that you are just enjoyable to watch!). Your question made me think about the difference between my friends and acquaintances on social media, where I see all the posts regardless of topic, and professionals on the same sites. Professionals can seem aspirational, but sometimes one-dimensional because of the compartmentalization you mention. Seeing all of your content integrated in one place has a broader appeal to me than the individual videos or posts that I see on each of your channels. It anchors your recommendations, regardless of genre, in the context of your current life. I know if you recommend something for beauty it's going to WORK because you don't have time for mediocre products. If you indulge in something that takes extra time, I know it's worthwhile for the same reason. And while I don't have kids, understanding how you balance things that pull you a bit thin is so relatable to me. So, long way to say, "do it!"

Also, I'm not affiliated other than as a happy user of the app, but I suggest taking a look at Plan to Eat, it lets me collect favorite recipes, index 'em, and plan them out over the week, plus it lets me assemble a shopping list, and see the recipe while I cook if I want to, or print it out to cook by. And if I freeze some portions, it will keep me updated about that too. I really feel like cooking more at home is helping me get fitter and healthier! Love you!

Oh btw thank you for introducing me to HUSH. I’ve gone bonkers and bought some lovely stuff! 🤗

I agree with the comment below - do what works best for you and keeps you as relaxed as possible. It’s great to hear you speak so candidly about the stresses and joys of having a young family. I enjoy both your blogs even though my children are in their twenties now. I’m sure subscribers will happily adapt to whatever you decide to do. Thanks for so many interesting and reflective posts!

We've all been there Ruth! Thank you for mentioning that people without babies yet still face fatigue, ruts, and treading water.
If it helps any, I've always kept back up frozen marinated fish to bake as one of my too tired to think meals that is still far healthier than take aways.

I loved this video... what a timely one too! I haven’t got any children yet but am feeling overwhelmed! In fact today I just felt totally lost and had a little cry... I originally got upset because of dusty sides in our house then it just catapulted! Totally ridiculous I know. You’re videos are always very real 😊 so thannnk youuuu xx I say combine the two, we can all toggle between the different content x

I think what you're feeling is very very normal. I have a nearly 3 year old and 18 month old twins. I'm knackered all the time. I can't see the floor in any room in my house, the day that I work I practically fall asleep at my desk and I haven't cooked a "healthy" meal in about a year. But I just think it's ok, it'll get better and this time only happens once. I started fencing one night a week a couple of months ago and wow its made a huge change to how I feel about myself. It will get easier. Hang in there!

Bang on here Ruth.. i think you’ve managed to sum up so eloquently the struggles of most parents who work, raise a family, and run a household and want to have a good balance of them all. I don’t really care what you decide to focus on , channel wise, as long as long as you still post videos. Your honesty these last few months of the fact your not feeling perfect has been very refreshing. Hope you get on top of your thoughts and things improve for you soon. Xx

Clicked on this immediately because I’m feeling the same way! A few ideas: focus on one change until it’s done. Closet clear out this week, meal planning launch next week, etc Also, put your CEO hat on and ask yourself if you would pay yourself to do that task or are you overqualified? Can someone else be hired to do it? Can it be delegated or not done at all? It sounds strange but that distance can really help me see what needs to change. Good luck! ❤️

Hi Ruth!! I have always just loved watching your videos! I wanted to comment because I don’t think you should worry about comparing yourself to other people I think that you have such a unique channel because of how you are so open and honest in the way that you are! I don’t ever comment on videos but wanted to let you know I love all of your content (one of the only people who when I see they have a long ig story I put my earphones in and watch instead of skipping through most lol) 🌸 x

Oh Ruth thank you for sharing your thoughts, feelings with us women from all over the world. I believe we all go through every point you have made! Families, sick children, hormone changes, partners/spouses, weight fluctuations, clothes, diet, mint magnums (I'm eating one as I type this), working in and out of the home... The list goes on and on. We sorta lose our focus and sense of what we want. Add social media, world and community events, and our friend's problems it is a wonder we don't lose it. You aren't going mad, my dear. You, like many of us, are overwhelmed, trying to find time for yourself, and maintain some balance. Take a breath. Get your sexy back (box up those maternity clothes). Eat to feel better, take walks while you figure out what exercises you enjoy, and make your work life easier by combining all websites/platforms into one beautiful, informative, inspiring, masterpiece only you can provide. We will read it, appreciate it, and thank you for it. And you Ruth, will continue to be a phenomenal woman.

Everything together would definitely reduce the stress on you. I do know a lot of people with channels with separate the 2 mostly as a way to make more money but at some point you have to go hey what is easier for me and what would I enjoy doing more. It would also enable you to maybe shift more into lifestyle products etc to review not just makeup and give you a new market to aim for, by casting one net wider than having two smaller nets to catch viewer attention as it where.

I love this video so so so much. I’m watching while my 18 month old naps, and here I am in my favorite maternity hoodie (not pregnant) drinking my 4th cup of coffee while the tray of blondie brownies I made for myself cools enough to eat 🙄. I’m crabby and distracted and always demanding that my husband do things differently because all I see when I look around is where we’re falling down on the job - and that’s so miserable and unfair! My policy since my son was born has always been “don’t add” - as in, don’t add pressure, don’t try to pack any more into the schedule, now is the time to just get by - but I mean, for how long? At some point that’s just letting yourself off the hook completely, isn’t it? Anyway, I relate so completely, and am also giving a lot of thought to the changes I can make that won’t be asking more of myself as much as sort of repairing the damage I’ve done. I just want my energy and my good mood back, you know? But it is definitely not easy, no matter how much I do love and appreciate my life!

Also I honestly prefer just one account from the people I follow - even if the content is unrelated to my interests, I find it easier to just skip or scroll through than to keep up with following multiple for the same individual

I think you are right we all go through this phase once in a while I know I have. One of the things I did to make sure I started to eat healthier and to cook is to have an organic vegetable box delivered once a week. I hate wasting food and tend to cook to make sure we eat all those vegetables. I use to walk a lot with my dog but she is 13 now and doesn’t want to walk that far. I thought of swimming this year too. I think a step at a time is a good plan instead of trying to change everything in one go. Hugs xoxo

I've only recently found out theUphill, and having had my second child two months ago, I've been enjoying it immensely. Honestly, Ruth, I find it so relatable (almost like you've been inside my head) and you are SO SO FUNNY. You've genuinely made me laugh out loud on numerous occasions. I also enjoy skincare very much, so having it all on the same platform would work out for me (not that I find it very difficult switching between the two, but I can see why it would be easier for you). Having said that, I don't know how much would maternity/breastfeeding etc stuff be interesting to people that don't have/don't want children. And I say people, because I've actually quoted you to my husband on expressing being "like collecting unicorn tears" and cleaning tiny scrotum being like "wiping peanut butter of a deflated balloon", and we laughed together, and were like yep, she hit the nail on the head on that one. :D Labeling the content might take care of that, as you said, so no one has to read content they don't find interesting. So choose whichever would be more convenient for you, I for one will follow you on how ever many or few platforms you decide to be on. ;) Much love!
