My probe is about 50-60 degrees higher than the set temp. Got it at 160 now and its showing 159 but the probe is 219. And its hanging about 2 inches from the built in probe.
I have one of those smokers and I’ve found it to be useless for anything other than ruining meat. Zero temperature control, inaccurate temperature reading, and wildly varying heat zones inside the box.
I have a brand new 3 series sitting here, it wouldnt go to 350 for the initial burn off. I am about to disassemble it and put it back in the box and return it. Screw this, these things are crap.

You should have water in tray to regulate temp better.
Come up with a insulated jacket.
Temp will very in different areas inside the box
Thanks for testing and Sharing. Very useful.

I agree but I have figured out how to use mine enough I can learn some on it but will upgrade hopefully next year.
Did it take 2.5 hours to get to 300?
It took a while. I don’t recall how long now.
Mine isn’t heating currently

I agree
Working with these takes all of the fun out of smoking meat.
