    Recently brought home a 2011 after turning down a 21.' The 08-11 is one of my favorite generation of Blades, both in nostalgic terms and as a bike that ticks the boxes for me as of now. For a bike being over a decade old, it's still plenty of bike for me especially on the roads.

      You turned down a 21 model fireblade for one of these 😮

    • @signal_rr
      @signal_rr Рік тому +5

      @@CJRSBK yep! I just wasn't a fan of the 21' design and the features. Prefer the older bikes without the modern electronic packages and to me, aesthetically looks more attractive. It's been great overall so far, albeit some areas that could be improved, but I'm still happy I went with an older blade!

      @@signal_rrcouldn't agree more. I understand that the technology has an appeal due to its development in GP racing, but apart from ABS when I give an input I want the bike to respond. Newer bikes with modes and levels of response and traction don't appeal to me - I've ridden many and the first question is "How do I turn all this off?" and a close second is usually a joking "Do they come with analogue gauges?" haha. Enjoy the Blade, it's one of my hero bikes along with the Bandit 1250 and early Gixxer 1000's.

    I've been off the bike for just over a year now due to a reluctant sale, I'm now in the market for a bike and one of these has come up in my price range. Thanks to your review, I'll go and have a look at it!

      It's strange, some of the videos on the channel did really well and the others barely get going...who knows!
      Many thanks for your kind words! 👍

    Excellent review! I own a 2008 Honda Fireblade and would agree on almost all points made, they are lovely to ride through town, track and long distance. Make sure if you are to purchase the 08/09 Fireblade that the recall has been done, the way to find out quite quick is to check on the VIN number located on the subframe for a punch mark above the last number/letter, which is normally left by the Honda team after the recall completion. Alternatively, contact a Honda dealership, and verify if any recalls have been done by providing registration plate/VIN details. Again, fantastic review and accurate comment about how thirsty the 08/09 Blade is with oil. Can't beat forged internals 🦾

      I've had 2008 and 2010 fireblade they do drink oil. I found them quick off the mark but boring campered to a zx10r 2008 I've now got. The zx10r definitely faster

    Most beautiful dash of any bikes I think. No reason BMW later got inspired from it and used similar on their S1000RR 2012

    You’re right, it was the first Superbike to have the option of ABS. I had a brand new one in 2009 in HRC white, blue and red with ABS. Traded in an SP2 Castrol rep for 4k! Recently I’ve bought a 2009 Repsol rep without ABS to commute on and it’s absolutely fantastic. Wonderful bike. I also have a 2014 big bang R1 which has a very different character, much more angry and aggressive. Both amazing but the Blade is much more usable.

    • @FrontWheelUp
      @FrontWheelUp  5 місяців тому

      I thought so. Oh lovely, I've always had a soft spot for the big bang R1's!

    One day, riders will look back on the 2000s/2010s and be absolutely mind-blown that many performance sportbikes did not have fuel gauges and/or gear indicators.

    What do you think of buying 2008 cbr1000rr that have 22,000 mileage on it still worth getting it ? The owner of the bike said there wasn’t any problem with the bike and I want to know your thought about this ?

    This model was great handling/ turning & stopping
    But a big disappointment for me was the lack of responce & torque below 5 to 6 rpm - the o4/05 was gruntier wheelied easier from those lower revs - pretty much from 2 to 3rpm the earlier one s engine was better
    Only complaint , otherwise very user freindly safe ride

    Currently own a k2 GSXR 600. I'm looking at getting one of these but I haven't had the opportunity to ride a thousand CC bike yet. Do you think this would be too much of a step up in power? Great vid 👌

      I rode a friend's ninja 600 and next day test drive & bought a 2005 cbr1000rr . Power wise is huge but very easy to control and maneuver. I only rode few weekends a month for a few months on a ninja 650 prior to that.

      Buy a zx10r 2008 onwards. I've had 2008 and 2010 fireblade. The kawasaki zx10r is better looking faster,just more exciting
