And very true- it seems like the generations stick together, they grew up in the same time/worlds afterall so that makes sense, but yeah, parents and kids can love each other's company and be friendly but they can't be true "friends"- too much obligation, duty, respect, reputation makes the relationship irrevocably unequal🤷♀️

True relationships, especially with a fiancé, require equality, understanding, and mutual respect-qualities she failed to offer. It makes sense that an "outsider" like Johnathan would see how OP was treated and reconsider being a part of the family. Most people wouldn't want to marry someone who mistreats a sibling or family member for no reason. It's just a shame anyone would listen to this story and either victim blame OP or side with Emily for just having a conversation with Johnathan 🤦🏽♂️ (also the theory that Johnathan loved OP: if that was true he would've reconnected with OP after breaking off the engagement).

Sometimes, they end up cheating with the person but, most of the time, they stick with the person they married and fantasize about the other or are content just to be able to be close to their OG love interest.
