    Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

      As Jimmy mentions, Chuck’s been to see numerous doctors who were unable to diagnose him. However it seems they came to the same conclusion as Dr. Cruz, that it was in his head, and Chuck either ignored their statements or brushed it off, unable to comprehend his own mental illness.

      You'd be surprised, but often, patients who have to deal with certain conditions for years end up knowing more about them than the average doctor. It's usually the specialists that really know the ins and outs of conditions. Only in chucks case is it pretty much made up.

      @@Mediados Okay, now suppose, hypothetically, that Chuck knows at some level that his justifications don't change the fact that he has abused his position as a lawyer. That's the root of my idea, that people are not always consciously aware of everything they're thinking, and they can tell when they're trying to fool themselves. I know it sounds crazy; but give the idea some thought, and how it might apply to someone like Chuck, whose self-image is built around being incorruptible even as he engages in dishonest behavior more befitting Slipping Jimmy.

    Chuck is the most realistic portrayal of mental illness I’ve ever seen. He’s still a functioning adult who’s accomplished a great many things, and it’s the mental illness that screws that up. "Electromagnetic radiation" is light, Chuck. Not electricity. Congratulations; you have thin skin.

    • @rileycorrigan5593
      @rileycorrigan5593 2 місяці тому

      Well, electromagnetic radiation is electricity and magnetism, hence the name. An electromagnetic field can actually be thought of as a string of changing magnetic and electric currents (see Maxwell's equations).
      Still, none of the physics of Chuck illness make sense, despite him constantly trying to claim otherwise.
      Some examples:
      Batteries use intercalation to store chemical energy between use. A free battery wouldn't produce any electrical energy since the cathode and anode aren't connected. This is why AA batteries may leak over time, but they won't discharge from just sitting around.
      Similarly, devices that aren't on wouldn't have any current either.
      Also, what he's actually vulnerable doesn't really make sense. On one hand, he would be bombarded with radio waves and wifi waves in the hospital, since they're meant to be broadcast over a long range. On the other hand, the lights and phones he's concerned about would produce about the same frequency over a much shorter range. So he would be affected no matter what, even without lights or phones.

    • @factory_enslavement
      @factory_enslavement 20 днів тому

      Well he did mentioned "certain frequencies of electromagnetic radiation" so he maybe believed that it would be the lower ones given that light is on the upper spectrum and electricity is on the lower side

    Chuck is the best character in Better Call Saul (and second best in the whole Breaking Bad franchise) and it’s not even close.
    I mean, he went to Belize ever since season 3 and yet his impact is so big that we are still saying that “Chuck is right” even after the show ended. Meanwhile, those who lived longer than him didn’t give the plot that much impact. Even Lalo’s biggest legacy was that he scared Jimmy but wasn’t a catalyze for Jimmy to turn evil and amp up the game in Breaking Bad.

      Things like schizophrenia and OCD can become exacerbated by stressful life events. I believe in the show they imply that his delusion about electricity began due to his wife divorcing him or something along the lines of personal conflict with her, I can’t remember which came first

    • @MonkeNeuronActivated

      Jimmy was the one that cared for Chuck so much. Chuck felt almost nothing but resentment for his younger brother, due to how Jimmy always had what looked to Chuck as "The easy way" in life - easily getting along with people, getting the law degree online, even making lawyer jokes with Chuck's wife, to which later Chuck miserably failed at doing the same thing. There is a ton of jealousy towards Jimmy, even so much so, that when their mother was on her deathbed, and her final words were calling "Jimmy", Chuck lied and said she said nothing, and just passed. Despite all of this, Jimmy still took care of that massive list of errands basically daily for Chuck, even surprising Howard when it was given to him.
      Maybe do a re-watch of the show 👍
