How to do an Outside Leg Hang - Pole Dancing by ElizabethBfit

- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- The outside leg hang is probably one of the first inverted or upside down moves polers learn after they start inverting. But many never embrace it to the point where they can relax and rest while in an outside leg hang. The outside leg hang is a beautiful shape in itself but is also a foundation move to so many other pole shapes, tricks and transitions. Do you struggle to maintain your outside leg hang or just avoid it at all costs? Here are a few tips and adjustments to help you find the proper positioning so as to master your outside leg hang.

Yaasssss! So happy to hear that Victoria! Let me know what other pole moves you'd like to see tutorials on in the future.
Hey (: You truly helped me out with this video. I’ve been trying to get my outside leg hang for months on end now. I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work for me. Turns out all I needed was to use the part above my hips as another grip point. If it wasn’t for you and this tutorial I would’ve never figured that out... so thank you so very much ❤️❤️❤️
Sarina that makes me so happy to hear that! Congratulations on your outside leg hang!
If you have not done so already, I’d love to have you join my EBFit private Facebook group and share your videos there for feedback and pointers.

I’m so glad you found them too! What moves are on your bucket list?
@@Elizabeth_BFit stargazer for now. I know it is a beginner move but for some reason I struggle with it a lot. My underknee hurts so bad and I keep sliding.

Yay! That just makes my day to hear how helpful my tutorial have been for you! Thank you for sharing that with me.
I'm a complete beginner and I was able to do it since you're amazing at explaining all the details on how to lock yourself in correctly but i definitely did not have as nice of lines as you..at all 😂😂 ill be practicing this one for a bit thank you 🥰

sensational !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Thanks soooo much 🙌❤ Love it!
Thank you so much!
Thanks. I love the outside leg hang. It is so versatile and I can do so many things with the free hands.
I am looking for beginner and intermediate spins and inverts that involve at least one free hand, to develop a routine where i hold an umbrella. The gemini is perfect for this. Now I am looking for a move to transition from an outside leg hang, while the inside hand is holding an umbrella.
That sounds like a super fun concept for a piece! Love it. If you need help with choreography or building your pole passes feel free to reach out to schedule a virtual private. I'd love to help you build your masterpiece!

You're a godsend!!!
So happy you enjoyed this. Hope it was helpful.
I’m telling you amazing because I need to just keep working on my tips for right now I still need a jumpstart to get to un invert and I just learned how to get my jumpstart yesterday😂 4:35
I'm not familiar with the 'jumpstart'
Your videos are so helpful, thank you, happy I have found your channel. Also, you remind me of Natalie Jill
You are so welcome! I'm glad you found my channel too! I'm not familiar with Natalie Jill. If you have any requests for tutorials please send them my way.
Your tutorials are the best!! Your videos have just been invaluable in helping me understand how to get into different moves. What advice do you have for getting into the outside leg hang on spin? I find once I’m inverted I spin out of control and have a really hard time finding and hooking the pole with my leg lol
I'm so glad you're enjoying the tutorials! Hard for me to say exactly what adjustments you need to make without seeing you do that transition to the outside leg hang. If you have not done so already, I’d love to have you join my EBFit private Facebook group and share your videos there for celebration, feedback and pointers. Share your video of the transition you are describing there and I'd be happy to add any pointers or tips I see.

Great video! Very helpful tips!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very helpful 👍🏻 I have got my outside Leghang and lost it because I only rushed through it to get to the moves I wanted to achieve… now my hips are always turning 🙄 have to work to fix it. I’ll try it in the ground like you showed. Thank you
So happy for you for putting in the time to make your leg hang solid. It's such a huge foundation move. Keep me posted how it goes. Would love to see!

Thank you! I joined your Facebook group 🥰 so happy even though I didn’t got my leghang back. Today I worked again on it, but with my resistance band, we’re I was secure and it worked and noticed, I feel like I didn’t finish the leghang, like “that’s gonna be another fail” and come down. I have this problem since I got my no kick invert. Maybe I have to re-learn it without the jump… hips higher…
Your videos and tips are so helpful! Do you have one for leg switches? Outside to inside leg hang? Or else torso switches, inside to inside leg hang? Thank you for these!!!
Jacque, I do not have a tutorial on those but that is a great one! I'm adding it to my list for future tutorials!
@@Elizabeth_BFit Awesome! I'm now subscribed and will keep my eyes open! Love your channel.
Not me coming back to this video almost 2 years into pole because my right side outside leg hang is muscle memory but I don’t train my left side enough 😭😭
Lol! You're not alone with this. But glad you're taking the time to work on it!
Thank you for this! What conditioning exercises can you do to get your hips high enough after the invert to not hook your knee on your hands? haha :(
I would recommend working on some invert conditioning exercises to strengthen and train your invert. Here's a link to a previous tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/HPTVZZ2ajPA/v-deo.html
Elizabeth Blanchard thank you !
Thanks Elizabeth, I will try your tips and see if my very shaky outside leg hang improves. Do you have any tips on how to properly position the outside leg on the pole? I feel that's my main struggle.
I also have a question regarding a move from outside leg hang that I couldn't find among your videos. This move is sort of "opposite" to a brass monkey, I don't know the exact name, we call it angry bird at my studio but I am pretty sure it's not the name commonly used. I'll try and describe is and see if it makes sense to you. From outside leg hang one grabs the pole below the head with one hand (sometimes also above with the other hand) to bring the inside hip behind the pole. The pole is resting on this hip, groin area. The inside leg ankle goes on top of the outside ankle, pushing it down, and one can let go of the hands.
I'm really struggling with this move as I keep sliding down, and I was wondering if you have any tips on how to make it work. I suspects that my problems come from my poor outside leg hand technique.
Valentina, I think I understand the move you are talking about but there's really no way for me to know what the issue is without seeing you doing it. Have you joined my private EB Fit Polers Facebook group? If not I recommend that you do (link below) and post your video there. That way I can see what you are doing with the move and your leg hangs and better understand what might improve it.

@@Elizabeth_BFit Thanks Elizabeth I'll try and post a video!
@@thedolcetto81 Yes please! Would love to see!
For those who can't get their hips to the pole, while in the air, like on the ground exercise, is there a point where we need to squeeze the Glutes to maybe get the hips closer?
If you're still working towards getting your hips high enough for the leg hook I recommend placing your ankle/calf on the pole and then engaging the glutes to shoot the hips up towards the ceiling. The ankle on the pole works like a spot assist while you work towards building the strength and coordination for the ankle free, straight to knee hang version.
If you have not done so already, I’d love to have you join my EBFit private Facebook group and share your videos there for celebration, feedback and pointers. Make sure you answer the FB group questions so I know you are a fellow poler 😉
facebook.com/groups/EBFitPolers/
I have trouble getting the pole right into that knee socket, is it due to flexibility or is there a tip you would recommend? Thanks!
Hard for me to say without seeing what you are doing exactly but the most common reason for this that I see is because the hips are not high enough when starting to hook the knee. If you haven't done so already I would recommend joining my Polers FB group and posting your video there and I'd be happy to give tips on what I see.
facebook.com/groups/EBFitPolers/
I am trying to revive my outside leg hang ability on my other side, but for some reason, my knee-pit hurts so much whenever I begin to hang, so I can never release my hands. Not a friction kind of pain but a pressure kind of pain.
What are some common mistakes that people make that cause pain in the knee-pit? Maybe I could see if it applies to me.
There of course can be extraneous variables that are non-pole related but baring those, it might be a matter of giving your body time to adjust to this newer point of contact. I'd recommend doing a few on this less favorable side every time you train. Just 2-3 each time, over time, will give your body and brain time to adjust hopefully.
@@Elizabeth_BFit Update: I managed to release my hands on the other side!
Yayyyyy! So happy for you@@axog9776 !!! And thank you for the update, that is awesome!
I keep slipping while on the floor, my back pushes away from the pole when I try to grip my leg
Hard to tell exactly what is going on but If you have not done so already, I’d recommend you join my EBFit private Facebook group and share your videos there for feedback and pointers. Much easier to give tips when we can see what's going on.
facebook.com/groups/EBFitPolers/
My problem is for some reason I cannot get my leg to bend when it’s on the pole. My leg literally just wants to stay straight and not bend. It’s driving me nuts and really discouraging me :(
Have you tried work on it from lying on the floor? And if so do you have the same issue then? I be happy to help you trouble shoot this with you if you'd like to schedule a virtual private. You can book via email or my website here: elizabethbfit.com/virtual-classes/
@@Elizabeth_BFit yes. The floor version is even worse lol it’s like my leg is not long enough or something
I’m able to lift myself up not the proper way I want and cannot hook my leg
Sounds like maybe your inverts are still a work in progress? You can also work on descending down into leg hangs as well.
