Thanks for stopping by and listening,nitsujin32! I started playing guitar at age 9 and actually learned both by ear AND by studying classical and jazz guitar, with various teachers. I even got a scholarship to study at University of Toronto,Canada's best music school, but joined my first serious band, the Philosopher Kings at that time, and eventually dropped out to tour full time when we got a major record deal with Sony. If I had to choose only one method,I would say, learn by ear .
I just discovered you a couple of nights ago when I heard one of your songs on a Hallmark Christmas movie, of all places. I Shazammed it because I loved your style so much and now I have been opened up to the world of your music. I listened to the We Rise album all evening. It brought so many smiles to my face. And now that I’ve looked you up on UA-cam, I see such joy on your face when you play. That’s how you make me feel when I listen to your music. Thanks for sharing your music with us! Makes me want to pick up the guitar again. I used to play, but haven’t played for years.
Wow... That's fantastic!! It's so groovy, makes me want to dance. And there's a couple of comments out there on how you didn't sing... Well I think the guitar sang more than enough for you. Great job.
The best version ever of this classic. Thanks for sharing. Still trying to learn it after 2 years but after playing along to the for a minute I just sit back and listen lol. Still in awe everytime I listen to it. Tutorial plz
I more than enjoyed it - I left the planet! Wow. Philosopher Kings are one of my all time favourite bands and I'm so glad I finally caught up with your solo performances! Thanks James. DQ

you said the you learn everything by ear? i think that's really amazing.
how long have you been playing and how did you get good at learning stuff by ear?
How could this kid say you sound flat. That's one of the millions of tones you could sound like
Great! Do you have tabs?!?
great! tabs?
Thanks for listening! No tabs yet, I need to get someone to make some soon.Stay tuned
Your playing is amazing:) My only complain would be about sound - it's pretty 'flat", i lacks depth. Anyway I'm still impressed.
No tabs , I improvise as I play and then leave it alone :) But if someone wants to do some , please put them up !
After seeing this, I no longer have a need for my guitars. :-(

You are like Tommy Emmanuel, but with much more feeling.
Well Tommy is one of my heroes and he plays with a lot of feeling, but thanks for the comparison!
@@jamesbryanmusic that was not meant to impune Tommy by any means. He's a fantastic musician as well. 👍
