Good video. We did 2 sleds before our season started. Great product. Cheap insurance. When we took apart a 2019 we found the second airbox wasnt installed correctly from factory and air box all the way to the throttle bodies was soaked and filthy!
I fixed the problem at the root cause. Split the air box. Siliconed and put back together. All you did is stop the snow at the intake. It will eventually melt leaving a huge puddle in front of the screen. I was worried the sled could get a huge shot of water and could blow the motor. My intake was bone dry after silicone the air box.
@@boser1212 no I didn't, I wasn't sure where to start I ended up doing a test run with silicone on the outside of the sled where the hood pops off at the front and that seemed to help some but if I take it off I'll have to redo it
@@craftedaxe6665 yeah so instead of silicone there use a small amount of grease. Just enough to help grab moisture. I highly recommend splitting your air box. Essentially the air box/hood and headlight assembly all come apart. It’s a lot of screws and takes some time but quite straight Forward.
I installed the mtn fit on my low elevation trail sled. The bdx one looks nice too but doesnt seem to be attached on the lower side. Just saw screws for upper. Air defender has 4 and i used rtv. Should be solid
Random Q: 2017 m8000 ltd. Headlights, is it H4 bulbs in them? And tip to the best bulbs i can have in them would be helpful. :) Dont want to get a LED bar or anything extra lighting.
I hhave always found the leaks come from the cheap grey foam gasket that is supposed to seal the hood to the airbox especially if the oil injectors have been leaking into said airbox. I feel a tubular gasket would solve the issue .
Interesting, the airbox design sucks I love the laydown motor but they need to figure out away not to have a connection at the bottom where you get all the snow/moisture buildup. I would get all my moisture where there hood and airbox connect down by the bumper so I would think this frog skin box wouldn’t do it anything to help the issue.
I've been telling cat guys for years to seal their damn airboxes but they don't and then complain about ctecs when they have a problem. On my 19 I'd have water dumping out of mine when I'd pull the hood. Haps in airbox seams. Brand new sled. This will kill any engine. No water since taking apart and sealing up. I might still get the protect air just for extra insurance.
If ur good and know the arctics u should know that box need to be installed by the "carburettor box" and not in the hood. The problem is not that the water comes from the top of the hood down to the carburetors, the problem is the seal between the hood and the engine compartment and condensation. So do not buy this item because you will only waste money.
Hey thanks for showing all steps including take the hood apart well. Sometimes that's the worse part...This video helped more than the product video.
I love the sled content! Keep it up
They should have put it on the airbox connecting to throttle bodies. I feel the most leaks happen at the hoods connection to air box.
Hello, signed, constantly watching you,) very necessary detail ! Well done!

Hows the moisture been after this install. I'm thinking of picking this up for my 14 m8
That is awesome!! I've had issues with my 17 XF 6000
So when/if one of those screws rattle loose the clip on the inside goes straight in the throttlebody.... looks kinda sketchy =)

I've had the same problem, Still trying to figure out where it is though, done a few different things seemed to help some
@@craftedaxe6665 did you go threw the trouble of splitting your air box off the hood?

@@boser1212 thanks I'll do that next when I take it apart again or if I still keep getting moisture in the intake
Almost 500 likes and no dislikes!! Matt good job brother keep it up
Could you send me the link for the airbox liner
Mine should be here on Thursday for the alpha 1!
I use Foam weather stipping all the way around the 2 pieces ,before you put the hood assembly back on.
Mountain fit has one that uses outerwears brand prefilter material

So what's to stop a guy from securing a square with some elastics and glue over the engine side?

Where is the best place to get a used sled?
Whitey must be ready for A are bushings can you do a video on that I need to do some on my 15
Are you getting a new sled?
Can we get a one year review? Are you still getting water in the intake?
Great product info !! 👍
My worry was how much leaks through the hood to sled seal
Whats the best T25 torx youve found? Tired of getting dull edges and slipping in the 100's of screws on a cat lol.
Snap on
Come on cat dont get soft keep reliability going strong
Who’s black 2016 mountain sled is that in the back
I may know
@@mikek5211 whose
Well if it has the white vented side panels, mine.
@@mikek5211 I do not believe it does
Well he is currently working on my black 2016
Mountain Fit was the first to make one called the Defender
The bdx is probably not as good but it’s a lot cheaper
What brand helmets do you run
He runs ckx titan
BDX SSI is some good chit!
good video seems like a bad design to have your air intake in the front off your sled

How much does that cost ? I dont do Facebook

Turbo will eliminate the airbox. 😜
Not always, my 2012 with a boondocker race gas turbo runs the stock airbox on the top portion.
@@johnbabb1138 yeah, the upper air intake vents need to be sealed. I'll be using epoxy when my Silber kit gets in.
Hey wanna do mine? Haha
That part made my engine seize up. Reason is it will ice up in deep powder and Starve your engine from air, I do not recommend this product !
