A Buick Reatta Came by the Shop

- My friend purchased a 1988 Buick Reatta and brought it by the shop. Neat cars considering they were two seaters loaded with tech, pop up headlights and advertised as being 'hand made.' The coolest thing is the digital touch screen controls! Touch screens standard in 1988....which GM then dropped and didn't really become mainstream until decades later.
I owned a Reatta almost identical to this one. Same color combo but I had the rear window tinted dark and had significantly more miles on it when I sold it. The original had a stainless steel exhaust. The atomic eject of the glove box is unfortunately wear and tear not the original design. It opened very smoothly, so did the tape deck. Even the hood and the trunk were soft open. It had many other innovations unique to cars of its day beyond the incredible touch screen, such as keyless entry, integrated security, antilock brakes, an incredible 14-speaker sound system, presets for every aspect of the car including radio, air conditioning, wheel position, seat position, and address book, and reminders. It was one of the best cars I’ve ever owned.
The displays look like something out of the old movie Escape From New York 😂

A friend of mine had a Buick Riviera with a CRT in it when it went out he got a brand new one it was expensive the other three he got from the junkyard when the last one was installed he sold the car he could not find any more CRTs to put in the car, bye! bye! Riviera...
Although based on the Cadillac Alante it almost has a FWD buick-corvette kind of look to it . Sad that a 3800 SC wasnt offered. 200 to 240 HP would wake this up quite a bit . Imagine an LS4 ( the FWD LS engine) with 300 HP in there .

This is the ONLY Buick I would ever buy. Buicks are almost always driven by old people that go 20 miles under the speed limit because they can barely even see
Cringy guys...it was super innovative and way ahead of its time...dual tips were factory
