  • Finch Bevdale tests 4 ways to clean a trashed carpet using light equipment. I use an oreck orbiter, a Karcher Puzzi 10/1, and a combination of the two testing out various scrubbing and mopping steps. Pads are microfiber thins from Encapstore and Glad Pads from Trinity OP Systems. Cleaning solutions are Releaseit as pre-spray and Odoban carpet cleaner as rinse. Let me know what you think in the comments!

I got a small cleaning company primarily residential cleans. I do small carpets for extra cash. I scrub in pre spray with black brush. Then go over it with a bissell pet pro plus carpet machine. Then spray the odor ban rinse go over it with the blue pad with strips same as yours then follow up with white microfiber pad. Seems to work pretty good. If the carpet is more flat like Berber I will use the white polishing pad to work in instead of black brush.

Interesting. I'm trying to find the right balance between effectiveness and speed with the lightest equipment possible. Top notch chemistry and the scrub brush are a big part of it. I clean a lot of trashed apartments. I find every one an interesting puzzle. Like you I do this on the side for extra cash and exercise and meeting people. I'm semi-retired and by my own admission a bit of an oddball.

Always enjoy your videos... but one suggestion, while keeping it lightweight. Give the Releasit DS2 at least 10-15 minutes of dwell time, then use the carpet brush, then the microfiber bonnet slightly damp with more ds2.
Depending on the type of carpeting, I also like the Releasit Hydrox even better than the DS2. Green Dragon from Encapstore works great too, as does Black Label from TMF. You can get great results with the microfiber star bonnet much of the time, while the glad pads work better when the carpet has divots or is otherwise not so flat.
Personally, I'm addicted to using my small CRB machine instead of the Oreck brush, but I run it dry to remove all the dry soil, vacuum, pre-spray, dwell 15 minutes, pre-spray a touch more, Oreck with microfiber pad, and rake.
My process does take a little longer, but the results are amazing most of the time and the carpets are usually dry in an hour or less. If the carpets are stiff... take an once of laundry fabric softener per gallon of water, spray the carpet tips and let dry. That will soften it up and smell nice too. :-)

Good tips. I've been meaning to try Releasit Hydrox but it's hard to get where I live.

Look into the Multiwash, or I carry a Bissell Big Green Machin e..I call it my plastic extractor

I think the multiwash is a great machine. I use the karcher for upholstery and occasionally stairs. I get the odd mattress cleaning request and have pulled it out for that as well.

looked to me like oreck orbiter brush did best job of agitation. Have you ever tried the sebo duo against oreck orbiter with soft brush for agitation?

I Think so, too. However the microfiber thin scrub pads also absorb and lift soil which takes some pressure off of the relatively low powered extractor. I mainly clean apartments and use compact equipment and want to avoid multiple loading trips in and out.

      It's a Simoniz buffer available here. www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/simoniz-q1l-yj-200-0-65a-3800-rpm-brushed-corded-bonnetrandom-orbital-dual-action-palm-grip-polisher-waxer-kit-8-inwith-carry-caseon-off-switch-with-built-in-lockextra-long-10-3-m-power-cord-for-a-longer-reach-0399056p.html?gclid=CjwKCAiApvebBhAvEiwAe7mHSKMa2tXiwtURiK9dN2KDxv_8bmjgE5v4p5jVpUZnr_AhUHk5gSyD4BoCIdsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#store=223
There's nothing special about it really. I bought it at a great sale price a few years ago. If anything it's slightly under powered but it's easy to use. The carry case is handy. I trimmed down its foam pad to better fit microfiber bonnets sold for Bissell Spinwave electric mops.
