Очень хороший звук и темп. Если не смотреть на руки, то можно подумать, что это играл человек в добром здравии.
My late husband was a trombonist and bass player. He also played the upright bass. He used to play the Moonlight Sonata on his electric bass, just for me. To hear this gentleman play this piece almost made me cry. I'm going to listen to this again and again. R.I.P. Rodney.😌😌😍
I see the passion is still on🙂☺

Being 94, Imagine the memories running through his head while performing such an emotional piece of music
He probably can't remember what he had for breakfast
Yet he either remembers each note or pure muscle memory, which is still cool in both situations

Wow, I thought this was just some random dude but it turns out he is a legit composer, according to wikipedia he is still alive and currently 97.
This is not just an interpretation. it's a grand performance.
There's no such thing as covering a classical piece. You just play it.
@@ciri151I didn't know that.
That's because Beethoven never played it himself on his instagram or UA-cam channel before releasing the hit single on Spotify
I thought that was a pun for someone being in GRANDdad age
@Ben Birchman a cover is really an imitation or near interpretation of an original performance. The idea is that it mimics the style of the original performers. Hence, “cover bands.” More recently it is used to refer to any performance of a popular song by someone other than the original performer, but that’s not really correct unless it’s at least somewhat of an imitation.
Beethoven would surely be proud of himself. Because his composition brings vigour to anyone.
Yes, musicians really apart of the healing profession.
I love how this was played, i'm not a pianist but a listener, there was a lovely gap in the timing of each note of each chord with the left hand, like the chord was slowly dropped, the weight shared between fingers at different times, rather than being plainly hit. Beautiful and admirable.

Better than most professional recordings, that all play at the same funeral tempo, in the same style, and god forbid they ever press a key too hard.
In his hands, the music is not just alive, but young.
We are all young inside.
Well...
His tempo is nicer than the slow funeral tempo mentioned above.
I expected a slower tempo from an old man. But it seems he has some impatience/youth within him yet.
Bruh, a tempo is consistently performed because that is what the people think beethoven was trying to express. Plus, professional recordings have much more nuance to them then you think
He is probably playing piano for 90 years...
What a legend
It's all in his muscle memory. I believe he has spent many years playing this. Well done!
His body may be withering but his hands are still strong and beautiful. His fingers full of determination. I'm grateful for stumbling upon this video. Please never take this down.
I agree that for his age it's nearly perfect, but you can clearly see his decline. Concentrate on his left hand. It doesn't move accurate at all.
Addition: A pianist is supposed to keep his fingers "round". It produces nicer tones and gives much more dexterity. He can't / doesn't do this.
@@IchiganCS He plays with emotion, he wouldn't think about that cause he's truly playing with emotion.
@@gala6403 No, you would do this all the same. Once a pianist has learned these things, he doesn't "think" about it anymore.
Although his body will be left one day to decay for eternity, his hope is forever eternal, wrapped in the warmth of his heart up above.
@@IchiganCS By the way, you are a dick. In my mind, you seem like the person to play a song with no love or soul and just let it slip away in time. He’s an elder. He is becoming more and more still, so he is unable to. You are here not enjoying the magnificence of his performance and criticizing what he can’t put to a halt. You are so rude.
I'm speechless, so beautiful and sad at the same time.. Wish he could continue playing till his last breath..

I listened to many pianists playing this on Spotify. He somehow makes the piece sound so much more meaningful, it touches me deeply where with the others it was just really beautiful. This pianist somehow tells a story.
His interpretation is sublime. He knows exactly what he's doing, playing like a master.
It's true. This piece can't be done properly without feeling your way through all of it, from beginning to end.
If it doesn't capture your soul as you play it, something is wrong. It's one of the greatest compositions in all of music.
That said, this is the 1st movement. The other two movements really make it complete, but like his 5th symphony, we all too often get just the 1st movement.
Not knocking it at all, though; he does a great job of it here. Really glad to have found this!
Fred
I sincerely wonder if you would agree without knowing who’s playing, or how different styles provoke different thoughts on the piece
I think that is cuz he often slows down the rhythm in places where regular moonlight sonata keeps the rhythm. Makes it sound more pulsating
Age and experience add beauty that youth cannot. This is why I am no fan of orchestras that purge out the older players. The young learn from the old as has always been and always will be.
Beethoven himself would salute your passion.
