    Great video. I just wanted to make a note for everyone that wasn't mentioned in the video concerning spells cards. You explain at 6:32 that the more powerful version of the spell cards cannot be used during the day, but there is one exception that you didn't mention. The stronger version of spell cards can be used in dungeons during the day. Mage Knight Walkthrough page 15, under the section for Revealing a Dungeon. "In a dungeon, Night rules apply, even if it a Day Round. This means that you cannot use gold mana, but you can use black mana to cast the strong effect of Spells."

    That multiple ways to play a card thing is what really makes mage knight excel as a puzzle where you actually have something to think about, whereas so many card games (such as magic and dominion) have such a small space of actual options and you really just feel dragged along by luck.

    Nicely done! One of the hardest things for me to remember is the subtle differences of when certain tiles are revealed. Like Ruins are placed on the map, but only face up during day; keeps and towers are secret at night until attacked, but can be seen adjacent during the day, and dungeons don't get tiles until explored, etc. Like you mention, the reference cards are a huge help here.

    Hey, thanks for the tutorials. One thing that wasn't clear in this video... Is healing at a monastery affected by reputation?

  • @Amrenos
    @Amrenos 4 роки тому +3

    slight confusion with recruiting units, in your example to recruit the bowmen you need 6 influence, the reputation is at -1 so you need 7 influence now at least from what i heard of you, but you said that he still needed 6 influence to recruit them, is this just a slight mistake or was there something i completely missed?

    • @ModernTablegamer
      @ModernTablegamer  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Amrenos, You're right, I probably could have worded that better in the video. The example shows it correctly in generating 7 influence since my reputation was at -1 in the example. What I was going for was saying that 7 influence is what I need because my reputation is -1 and this would then equal the 6 influence required to recruit the Utem Crossbowmen, but it sounds a bit wonky I admit. Thanks for checking on this.

  • @Heathcoatman
    @Heathcoatman Рік тому

    Great videos but I get confused sometimes when terms are vague or used interchangeably. For example, the way I understand it, a turn is a series of rounds, and when all rounds are exhausted, the turn ends (and we switch from day to night or vice versa). However, a round is one part of a turn, so when you say 'you reroll your mana dice if used at the end of the turn, it seems like you mean round 31:20. Again, you are explaining fine I'm sure, but I get completely thrown off with the slightest term confusion. Do you reroll the mana dice at the end of each of your rounds, or at the end of the turn (all of the rounds)? at 21:47 you say the unit cant be activated for the duration of the round, not just the turn. Confusing because a round is a subset of a turn, but the way you say it sounds like a turn is a subset of a round.
    You talk about not placing tiles outside of the coastline 19:25 but the only coastline I see is on the portal tile. I'm guessing this means you cant place tiles outside of the predetermined map configuration.
    19:47 you talked about when it's possible to place a core tile, but is it optional or mandatory? Obviously you want to get the core tiles on the map, that's where the cities are, but whether it's optional placement or mandatory isnt clarified.
    This is on me, I have a slight learning issue with anything that seems vague. It's like in school when you miss a day and all of a sudden your math class seems like another language. I'll rewatch and hopefully realize it was just me missing something. When things get replenished is what has me completely lost. Round and turn mean completely different things but it sometimes seem like you mean round when you say turn. Again, it's on me, I'll rewatch.
