    Love your gear testing! Where do you get the leather tank cover? I see the small tank covers on Amazon but not the one that fits a 1 pound tank. Thanks!

      Thank you and the cover is home made using real leather. just like you, I couldn't find anything for the propane tank so had to make one.

    It's really interesting, especially for car campers, being really efficient. Not sure I'd want to chuck it and a big battery into a rucksack though

    At what point are we just no longer camping? We are literally bringing our entire kitchen and its cabinets into the woods now lol

    Might be handy if you already have a big battery and only need to heat small amounts of water, or if you EV car has plug. However the energy to weight ratio And power VASTLY favours gas (or petrol!) as a heat source. Thus, for the foreseeable future there will be no battery driven backpack solutions. Its strictly car camping. For reference at 1 lbs propane bottle holds about 6.25 kwh of energy.

      You are 100% right. It would be great for warming up babys bottles with small amounts of water and making popcorn 🍿 😀

    Here in FL hurricane are an issue and the last couple of years I have lost power for a week both years. I have a Jackery that I got this year to use with my CPAP. On DC power I can now get over a week of use easily. My work has a generator so I can always take the battery in to charge it if I lose power longer than a week. I have been looking for some way to boil water for use with dehydrated food. I have a lot of supplies for storms but am tired of eating the same dry meals. This looks like it might be a great option. I don't own an outdoor grill so I don't really feel the need to invest in something that uses propane. I may one day but this might be a cheap alternative for now.

    Do you think the popcorn mode gets hot enough to sauté small piece of meat?

    Nice. Just too bad it's not usb powered. Yes I know this requires a lot more power. It's going in the right direction but we are quit there yet!

    close but no cigar
    9 minutes of pull on a portable battery just to boil water is laughable, a regular electric gooseneck will boil water in under 6 and uses reliable mass produced components.
    If you’re still considering buying this you should note that most factory truck bed outlets are rated at a max of 400watt, so this item is not guaranteed to work and would exceed recommendations if it does.

    Your power station only puts out 110v instead of the 120v needed for faster heating.

    • @ChasingAdventuresCO
      @ChasingAdventuresCO  4 місяці тому

      Thanks for your input. however, I don't think that extra 10v will make a huge difference, right?

    Great if you're on mains power. Awful if you're on battery power. It takes 17 amps of current to boil 400ml of water from 20°C. That's a lot of energy for a few minutes of heating water.

      @@ChasingAdventuresCO I am currently looking into a few items that may be able to use for camping and hiking. as i live on an 25 ft sailing boat, i do not have a lot of space. and if i want to go sailing or off grid, i want an system small enough to work with minimum fuzz. I will let you know when i have something i have been using for an while.
