I really enjoyed how this was filmed & edited. Going through parts of the ride then showing the outside, talking about it & going back in. It made the ride feel new again, somehow. Great job! :) I can't wait to see what Disney does for Snow White.
Pre 1983, Snow White was an extremely scary ride for my young self. After the 1983 refurb, I loved the changes. Now I’m concerned with the next refurb, but I have to trust Disney. I’m so glad we have this love letter to Snow White to remember how it was. Thank you!
Leave the facade and the queue alone. The mine part needs an update. The crystals on the left show the lights behind them. Upgrade the dark forest. The ending is up to Disney. I think the question for Disney is, do you make this a kids ride, or a sorta kid scary ride. My Mom still analogizes for taking me on this ride. Some 50 years later, I don't have nightmares. If an upgrade like Alice happens, big win.
Awesome idea man! Sometimes the queue is just as important and beautiful as the ride for these vintage attractions. Thank you for documenting the details! 🖤
A smoother transformation from the *Evil Queen* to *Old Hag* would a great change, plus maybe a puff smoke and calderon like in *Fantasmic* transformation. Other than that not much to change to the overall attraction. Oh, maybe some new animatronics, projections and lighting would be a welcome change as well.
Snow White def has a funny (abrupt?!) ending, and we always joke about how *many* times the witch asks if you want an apple, but we still love it...! Last time we went (Jan 2019) it was a fairly busy time (Chinese New Year had started), and I think we rode Snow White sometimes twice a day? Total. classic. I’m excited for them to update it, and for some reason I trust they’ll do it right...! It’s a lovely queue. FRESH BAKED!
More videos like this seriously need to be done! A more in depth look look at the stone work, wood work, paintings, accents with the art, signs, and foliage used. It's great to have this stuff documented. Some of us are also crazy and want to create part of what we see at home.
How about 11 times? That's 6+5. ;-) (BTW.....I can't believe your "60th" videos were 5 years ago!) Maybe upgrade with a scene of the Queen and the mirror telling her Snow is the fairest, a few visual graphics on the trees and fix the ending...add a scene with Snow "asleep" on the pedestal and the Prince waking her with a kiss. Thanks for the last, nostalgic look at SWSA as we've known it, David......a few bittersweet feelings go along with it. Very thoughtful coverage of all it's facets, inside and out...including both day and night views.........and I liked the segue into the last segment! FRESH BAKED!!!
David, my hope for Snow and all of Fantasyland is that it remain as intact as possible. Even though the land has been amended over the years it still evokes the feeling of the original Disneyland, and I remember the original park quite clearly. That feel for Tomorrowland, and indeed Frontierland is gone. But Fantasyland still evokes the sense memory of the original park. Whatever changes they make to this part of the park I can only hope will be minimal. It's important to hold on to a little bit of Walt's original vision.
Two things I hope they keep are the apple that cackles when you touch it and the Evil Queen looking out the window at the park. Those are my favorite parts of Snow White's Scary Adventures!
I agree with all you said about what you want them to keep. If I could I would want that scene with the dwarfs climbing the cliff in my house somewhere it's just so beautifully crafted
First, I suspect that the new version has already been built in a warehouses some where likely in Burbank. I do expect that it likely be a total replacement but all of the major scenes will be there but they will be much smoother and more fluid. I expect much more use of the latest in Audio animatronics.I would love to see the Queen in the window be much more animated so she appears to be looking at the crowd below.Lastly I will not be surprised if they go trackless or with a more hidden track but that would be a major change.
In 1975 I went to the Magic Kingdom for my very first time.I was 9 years old.I went on this ride and when the Queen turned around and was the with its scared the hell out of me.I kept my eyes closed the rest of the ride.It would take 30 years before I ever came back and I went on again and this time laughed. Now what lewft of this rise is in the back of the Seven Dwarves Mine car ride. Some of the fugures in your queue now are in the house singing while the with is out the the door.I assume you've seen that on video David
I actually really love the front of the attraction at night with the deep blue lights in the planters. A very cool ambiance. The end is too abrupt. Needs another minute actually in the ride to fully complete the experience. It’s such an important piece in Disney lore it deserves the added attention and detail.
I see a lot of people who are concerned about this refurb and I would just like to tell them to have some faith in Imagineering. They're going to get this right!
Lucas Ham I hope they add a lot of the stuff from the WDW ride!! That was my favorite ride and I’m still devastated that we don’t have it here any more. I always thought the WDW version was the better version because Snow White appeared five times (3 figures, two murals) vs. this one where she only appears in the actual ride once. Ours actually told the story. I pray that they make this one more similar to WDW’s!!
Your comments after the video actually made me tear up... I love Snow White. Not just the ride but the character she's the original happy ending. I love that you asked for us to make comments about Snow White, she was the first ride I went on six months after I was born. I do believe it was 1955. I was born in 58. I would have loved to have some more history and backstory on it. The question I have is when was she last refurbished? I don't know that answer. 😭 I don't want them to get rid of some of the most important story parts and on hands que items . 1) the Apple where you are allowed to touch it and laughter from the Evil Queen (She is MANY people's favorite Character) comes out. 2) One of the favorite things that I love in the que is the Worn wood. Over the decades zillions of people have put their hands on that wood and it has worn itself down to where it is smooth and it has a very wonderful original traditional authentic feeling to my hands. There are a few rides in Fantasyland like that, I don't want them to change it. 3) I don't want them to take out anything re: the Evil Queen. statues, photos, (relics) the window Queen, the rotating Queen (although the rotation could be a little smoother). 4) I don't mind that it looks older on the outside I like the gothic bricks I don't know why Disney feels the need to have all of the castle area match. They need to leave something original! I seriously welled up when I heard the news they were going to refurbish. I understand they have to clean it, but I hope that they are not so insensitive to us that are still alive that are in love with our childhood, at this magical happy place. ❤️
I love this ride, even though I never been on it's really good. The gothic architecture is amazing and little details like the dungeon is good l pray that they don't mess this ancient ride.
I'm glad finally got to meet you as you were boarding the Mark Twain Riverboat last month. You were filming with a friend and sat in front of the boat. Keep up the great work.
Took my first trip a couple months ago and Snow White was my favorite dark ride. Rode it about five times. I'm so glad I got to ride the classic version. Fingers crossed for the new one.
Im going to be really sad if they change the outside and take away the queen. I love the outside as it is. Please dont turn it that new blue and pink they did to the castle.
Lovely video! Some nice camera work too may I say especially on the exteriors. Around 5:28 (etc) this second recording ride-through looks quite a lot better than the first ride through in this upload. Was it a different camera or different settings? I tried recording the ride yesterday, didn’t turn out so well in those dark scary places😂👍 As for changes to the ride I agree the exterior is perfect as-is, and the dungeon walk through etc. at night this facade is especially superb for fantasy land just the way it is. I applaud them for working to improve the disjointed ness of the story, don’t know how to preserve plus add what they want but it’s a good step, will be interesting to see and I hope they don’t tone down the spooky sections too much!
Thanks for these great videos! I am 65 years old and will probably never go to Disneyland again but I had season passes many years back when it was affordable-1995 or so up until I'm not sure when-but for several years and I just LOVED it there. I also went as a child back when you had the ABCDE tickets and that was a special kind of fun too, you had to choose wisely which tickets to use on what rides.
Beautiful job Dave! She is beautiful truly! I have found the woods, as they don't move anymore sad for a long time. I would prefer fix it all & plus it up but leave her lovely bones alone. I will do my best to fall in love with her all again though! I truly hope that enough of the executives in charge, understand the beauty of their simplicity! 65 years later the lines are longer than ever for them, yes the ending is abrupt...but I laugh at it every time! The scream still echoing in your ears...and they lived happily ever after!!! I can miss E ticket rides on a visit to Disneyland, but I can't ever miss the castle rides & Casey💖🤗💖🤗💖🤗 Please Disney, don't break Walt's heart, It beats every day in those of us who truly call Disneyland our HOME💖
They could improve the look of the entrance wishing well, that people throw money into. Also, the Dwarfs' Mine could look a lot better, if adding 3-D Rocks and Jewels. Much like in the Mine Train at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Still keep the same Story Line.
FreshBaked, David, I Hope we still have the Wicked Queen looking down on all of us from her tower. It'nice how she set's the scene for the ride to come. By making changes to the ride I hope it does'nt make the experience to soft and we don't want a cross-eyed prince in the final scene. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Changes to Snow White will be hard to get used to after being the same for so long. But, we will have to wait and see after it is completed. Thanks for sharing this with us David.
The shots I’ve seen of ROTR where the villain spins around, immediately reminded me of the Queen/witch mirror scene in the Snow White ride. I don’t think that is an accident. I thinks it’s today’s Imagineers paying playful homage to their revered predecesores. Given that, i can’t imagine they would scrap such an iconic scene.
One of the best things they ever did to Fantasyland was making it NOT all look the same in the 80s. Now they're talking about trying to make it all... look the same again? Seems like a huge step backwards. I love that every ride exterior, while fitting in with the land, looks distinct. It adds more variety. If it all looks like the castle it will also make the castle looks smaller, IMO. The castle looks big because you can assume t's further away than these other buildings. If they are all the same style, that illusion will not work. You will have a much more obvious size comparison.
I Love the detailed craftsmanship of the work, in general. I always wanted to reproduce the exact same fence work on a small Home I have, that I call The Cottage Home.
Looking back on this video ever since we rode on Enchanted Wish recently and it definitely is a major improvement over the original 80’s version of the attraction.
Love your videos. We are going for 1st time this June. We go all the time to Florida because it's closer but have wanted to go to Disneyland so that my kids can experience some of the originals that no longer exist in Fl. Kinda disappointed that they are changing Snow White ride but at the same time I hope they make it as good as it could have been all along. ❤
My fingers are crossed that they don't screw it up... The main things I can see are cloning the mine scene from the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and the end from the Scary Adventures at DLP. Maybe some more projection mapping and screens ala Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan's Flight. Maybe the new end will be a screen? Hopefully nothing too drastic... This is always my first ride on a Disneyland trip, as a tribute to Snow White being the first Disney movie... but man, I've never seen the line that long!
I agree with what a lot of people are saying. The ending is weird (seems like a end in the middle of the story) and I would love a change. More lighting would make it so much better and wouldn’t effect the scariness. With the lack of lighting now, you over look certain things. Adding is generally my suggestion rather than taking things away.
i'm going thursday, will it still be open? i hope they close the bibbity bobbity boutique and use that store to extend the snow white ride. i haven't had any interest in that store after it was tinker bell's toy shop.
Don’t change the castle, don’t change the revolving witch, don’t change the dwarfs at the end, and don’t change the evil queen peering out of the castle.
Owe no. Everything David feared would happen did. Name change to Snow White's Enchanted Wish, Exterior painted to match the Sleeping Beauty Castle, and scary ending changed to happy ending
I think the major scene changes will start right at the scary trees scene, I think the scary trees will slowly turn to normal trees and the seven dwarfs cottage with the evil queen in it will change to Snow White sleeping, then the scene with the seven dwarfs running up the mountain towards the evil queen will be changed to the new scene with Snow White riding off with Prince Charming.
Isn't likely they are mainly just going to add the 3d projection overlay tech from the WDW version? Just to add some "animation" to the characters? That ending needs another space to finish the story though. I am not sure how they could do that without a significant restructuring of the ride path and room layout.
The end is, the witch is trying to crush them all with the boulder. She's standing on the edge of a very thin cliff. Lightening strikes, the ledge breaks, she falls to her death. Not weird to me.
I'm just amazed at how efficiently the story is told in the various scenes. I haven't ridden the ride for many years, so I don't remember what the exit scroll says, but it does seem to be an odd way to wrap up the story and a rather jarring transition back to the outside world. It will be interesting to see what Disney does with the attraction going forward.
Mayb the can add an actual balcony to where the queen peaks into the window and do an animatronic coming out every 30 minutes thatd be cool or instead of the queen they put maleficent bc after all it is Sleeping beautys castle.
there are so many things that could be changed about this attraction the storyline is all off the lights and the ending are all off im hoping they gut the whole thing and start new but thats just me id like to see a beginning where the queen tells the huntsman to have her killed then a sceen where she meets the dwarfs then the queen changing into the old hag then the dwarfs killing the queen then the prince kissing snow then they lived happily ever after i mean how hard is that
Thank you for this video and I hope they don’t get rid of the Evil Queen staring from the window it looks so cool
Gawd, they better not change the exterior!
The Queen isn't going anywhere
I'm so concerned for this refurb. I hope Disneyland does things right.
Especially the outside
Nice upgrade on the camera! Quality and footage looks great :)
Thank you Kristy!
Gonna miss you Snow White(classic)!!
To Disney: Make us proud!
I really enjoyed how this was filmed & edited. Going through parts of the ride then showing the outside, talking about it & going back in. It made the ride feel new again, somehow. Great job! :)

thank you very much :)

I'd like to see them try to hide the turntable the transforming queen spins around on. it's a little to obvious.
Love this! Thank you for taking the time to give this to us
I'm with you, David. I hope they don't mess it up!
Treat her well Disney I love snow white❤️

You have such a gift for framing shots. Much appreciated.
Im looking forward to a better ending. I’d love to see the queen falling followed by snow and the dwarfs celebrating. Current end feels incomplete.
I’m hoping they give us the ending WDW used to have! It would be perfect then!
That's true it always did feel like the ending was incomplete.
I agree with all you said about what you want them to keep. If I could I would want that scene with the dwarfs climbing the cliff in my house somewhere it's just so beautifully crafted

The facade of Snow White is so beautiful, it would be a pity if they changed it.
Loved the video! I hope they keep the mural at the end.

sheryl miller well said!
Well they removed the noisey apple and the woods part and they updated the color of the exterior as well as added new technological stuff
I love this ride, even though I never been on it's really good. The gothic architecture is amazing and little details like the dungeon is good l pray that they don't mess this ancient ride.

I like what they did to the Alice and Wonderland attraction, so I have faith they will treat snow whites scary adventure the same.
i hadn’t rode this ride in so long and when i went again as an adult, i was like wow this is really dark for Disney. especially with all the skeletons
Hope Disney doesn't turn a dark ride into a warm & fuzzy Snow white.
Lovely video! Some nice camera work too may I say especially on the exteriors. Thank you. Great video.
I’m hoping they mirror the Paris version..if they do it will be a perfect upgrade while keeping integrity of the ride
Thank you! I do enjoy the ride and am hoping they do the ride justice with the refurbishment.
I miss Disney more than ever rn
It'll be outstanding. Just keeps getting better and better.
Echo all the comments, hope it's not made less scary, the best bits are kept, the ending is corrected. Here's hoping.
This ride has already been altered dramatically over the course of the parks history. Don’t sweat the change Davey.
Changes to Snow White will be hard to get used to after being the same for so long. But, we will have to wait and see after it is completed. Thanks for sharing this with us David.
I am soooooo excited for the update!! But I would be lying if I said I’m not also nervous
Beautiful footage David! Thank you!
Thank you :)
My guess is the will only change the ending bits and Adler some updates effects like Pan has to modernize this ride and maybe make it less scary?!?
This was perfect!
I wish it was a longer ride. There is not really a story after the Apple besides the death scene.
One of the best things they ever did to Fantasyland was making it NOT all look the same in the 80s. Now they're talking about trying to make it all... look the same again? Seems like a huge step backwards. I love that every ride exterior, while fitting in with the land, looks distinct. It adds more variety. Good morning Fresh Baked. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you. Love this ride.
Great last look at Snow White 🍎 We saw you in line and shouted “Fresh Baked” ❤️ Love the video
So, sad that I couldn't go there once more before the refurb!!!! Thanks so much for highlighting this amazing, wonderful, and perfect ride!!!
i'm going thursday, will it still be open? i hope they close the bibbity bobbity boutique and use that store to extend the snow white ride. i haven't had any interest in that store after it was tinker bell's toy shop.
I agree with you they should live Snow White castle just the way it is and keep the dungeon
LOVE the depth of field in the opening shot!!!! Use that cam more.
Great job on this video David! 👍 💕
Don’t change the castle, don’t change the revolving witch, don’t change the dwarfs at the end, and don’t change the evil queen peering out of the castle.
Thanks for the last ride in an OG ride!
Sad that we'll miss it when we're there next month! Just have to remember...
I got my coin in the goblet once. I was so excited. 😅
I agree. I love the way SB castle looks, but I definitely want some differentiation from Snow White’s.
I'm sure I'll love the new version, but I do love it as it is now.
I hope that once they do the new adds or refurbs they can slow down the ride to appreciate the new add ins just saying
Owe no. Everything David feared would happen did. Name change to Snow White's Enchanted Wish, Exterior painted to match the Sleeping Beauty Castle, and scary ending changed to happy ending
Everything is your favorite attraction at Disneyland...
Good morning I think snow white is great how it is but do you think after the refurb will it always be busy like Peter pans flight
Don't you think everyone will want to ride it to see what the newness looks like? I know I will.
sheryl miller well I’m not saying I don’t want to go on it
I think the major scene changes will start right at the scary trees scene, I think the scary trees will slowly turn to normal trees and the seven dwarfs cottage with the evil queen in it will change to Snow White sleeping, then the scene with the seven dwarfs running up the mountain towards the evil queen will be changed to the new scene with Snow White riding off with Prince Charming.
I don't want them to change the outside.... or most of it... I would like. Better ending...
If it isn't broken why fix it. I guess we'll just have to wait & see what Disney has up their sleeve!
I hope the imagineers don’t screw it up like the version in WDW which opened with mixed results and ultimately closed at WDW in 2012.
they should demo it all and make a tron coaster in the middle of fantasyland
On the Disneyland app, Snow White is already close for refurbishment so is It’s a Small World, Mark Twain. Space Mountain, & Carthay Circle restaurant
They need to bring this back to magic kingdom....
It will be back someday.
@@stanfordite hopefully...
When I was 10 years old, I actually thought this ride was pretty darn scary.
You should do more videos of the rides like this
Why? you can never see anything. Go watch other low light videos that show a lot more. ua-cam.com/users/SocalAttractions360videos
Glad they are updating all the rides, just sad some of them will still be down when we visit from Arizona in March.
Why is there change in the dungeon? How did that start
My guess would be they'll just be adding a video screen diorama at the end with Prince's kiss...
As for the colour changes, if the clock tower was brightened to the match the castle, that would be simple fix.
A video of snow white running behind the spooky trees would also be nice.
I never thought there should be 2 apple scenes. The tree scene can go as far as I am concerned. I am looking forward to a better ending scene.
The Backgrounds could be brightened up, and still be Scary....
This is one of darkbunnys favorite rides 💔💙
What if they combined it with parts of the 7 dwarfs mine train ride from Shanghi?
there are so many things that could be changed about this attraction the storyline is all off the lights and the ending are all off im hoping they gut the whole thing and start new but thats just me id like to see a beginning where the queen tells the huntsman to have her killed then a sceen where she meets the dwarfs then the queen changing into the old hag then the dwarfs killing the queen then the prince kissing snow then they lived happily ever after i mean how hard is that
