Stickers are SO annoying! 😃 Deckled edges are “beautiful and annoying”! 😂 That cover change IS annoying. I agree with you that the UK edition would look better in the U.S. It’s almost like they are trying to annoy readers. Great video! Thanks so much for doing this tag! 💛
Love this. Great answers. I’m with you on so many of these. Particularly stickers. I hate stickers. You pay people money to design gorgeous artwork and then you ruin them. I also need my series of book to be together 😊 AND in order.
I would say things that I'm annoyed about when it comes to books is stickers on the cover, not having a synopsis on the back cover or inside flap, how different sizes can be for books depending on where you get them and how expensive shipping can be when you get a book from a different country.
Yes! The no synopsis thing is frustrating! I don't care what others thought of the book or need a big pic of the author on the back! I need to know what the book is about!
Love your video and I agree with you on all of them! A couple of other things that annoy me is title of book name changes for whatever reason and I hate to say this one but when authors write under too many names to keep track of. Another thing that annoys me is what another poster here said, when the first few books of a series come out with audiobooks and then no more in the series does. That really annoys me! Take care and Happy Reading!
Estherjane here. I’m annoyed with the cover of a movie comes out and they change the cover to the people in the movie. One other thing. I read a lot of historical fiction, WWII with the back of women on the cover
I don't usually buy new books, so I have lots of series with different editions/sizes on my shelves from buying them at library book sales, used book stores, or Little Free Libraries. I can't really complain about that or stickers, but I just kind of see those as tattoos of their previous life. If I was buying something new though for my collection, a sticker would really annoy me. I've also seen where the publisher actually prints the sticker as part of the paper cover on hardbacks? That's ridiculous. No reason why that even needs to be on there! I wish all hardbacks came as naked hardbacks with beautiful covers. Those paper covers annoy me so much. That's one of the reasons why I'll wait for a paperback edition. My favorite covers though are the flexibound ones, like the Word Cloud Classic editions. Those make the books much lighter and easier to read for me. They're similar to a paperback in size and feel, but the cover material makes it much more durable. Unfortunately, I've only seen that type of binding on classics, which I don't read often ^-^
Yeah, when I thrift I can't be to picky about covers or sizes but when I collect a series that I expect to be the same I get annoyed. I so agree with hardbacks, I would prefer print on the covers and no DJ. If I want to protect the book I can buy protective sleeves for them for when they sit on my shelf after reading. 🤓
agree! Why different sizes! that's very annoying... and.. the annotated books thing. It depends on the book and yes, how much annotating was done, i guess! lol sometimes, i see highlighting and I think... why did someone highlight that line? haha thanks for sharing! i enjoyed your video as always, my friend!
My favorite size book is mass market paperback size. I have been annoyed for a couple of decades that paperbacks are getting larger. And that the price and the length of the book are getting larger along with it. I rarely reread, and I refuse to pay $20 for a new book. 25 years ago, I bought new books frequently because they were $3 or $4. And, I really dislike the cartoony covers that are on some many books now!! Whine, whine, whine - lol.
I wonder how much of the book sizing is the printer versus the publisher? If the printer tells the publisher they can get a better deal by doing whatever it is at that time, then of course the publisher will want to pocket the savings. I've never come across an annotated library book. Have you? Love the thumbnail!
@@StormReads at the library?! I'm gobsmacked. I've never come across a library book annotated.😲 I don't even think I've come across a for sale library book annotated.
I agree with most of what you said. Since I don't read physical books anymore I am glad I don't have to deal with some of them anymore that used to annoy me like stickers and different sized in a series. Do people actually annotate books that are still belong to the library? How rude! I wonder if Discovery of Witches has a different publisher or changes happened at the publisher - they new one is just so different both US and UK - you wonder why. I agree about the rainbow organizing of books - to me that comes across and they are not really readers or care about what they read and just show off. Like you I would keep my series together when I read physical books. I would sort by author (last name -when did we start with first name in sorting? lol) then series (if they have more than one) in number order. I am getting annoyed that books are beginning to lack showing it is part of a series and where in the series it is.
So I looked it up and Discovery of Witches was viking penguin and the new one is Ballantine but both part of Penguin Random House, so I just think it was publishers being stupid or they will come out with different covers for the rest to match.
In my opinion the publishers change up the covers so that they make more money. Someone may have for example the orignal cover and then its changed and their like yea gotta get it in a different cover. Its all about the money. Same with music cds the original comes out then a year latter theres a deluxe version with songs that werent on rhe original so makes people buy both. Or theers like 3 or 4 cds of the same album but people gotta buy them all because ones purple, ones gold etc. Taylor swift does that a lot. Its just for the money.

Right?! They must have done that on purpose! 😆 Thanks for the fun tag!
I've used a hairdryer on stickers to help loosen it's grip. (First graders love sticking stickers all over the place!) 🍀📚🍀
I haven't tried the hairdryer on regular stickers yet, but it doesn't seem to work on library stickers from books I buy at the library. 😕
I've enjoyed watching all the responses to this tag. I think we all feel the same about the dreaded stickers.
I think so too! This tag has been fun to watch.
When the barcode covers part of the synopsis.
Good one!
When they PRINT the sticker on the book 🤬
Yes! So annoying!

Sticker ugh, you are right, why pay someone for awesome art to cover it.
💯 *Everything you said!* 💯
🤓
something that annoys me is when audiobooks won't tell me how far into I am (looking at you audible)
Oh yes! That is a good one!
I agree with you about stickers!
🤓
Hey Storm! Ty for the tag…will be doing it this weekend!!❤❤❤
Can't wait to see what you have to say!
Thank you for the tag. I am going to do this one very soon! And yes, the stickers on covers is so annoying!
Yes they are! Can't wait to see yours!

@@StormReads I agree! Hopefully they will bring that option back.
Thank you so much for the tag! ❤ 🎉
Hope you do it! 🤓

Yes! Those can be annoying!
I hate when Thrift books puts their stickers on the side.
Yes! I agree that is annoying.
Preach sister preach !
🤓
Hi Storm! There are so many annoying things in the book world. I think I will do this tag. I have not done a tag for such a long time.
There are so many! Go for it!

Oh, I do forget about the back of people that is something they do a lot now days and it's totally annoying!

I find them marked up all the time but not with the little sticky things in them.
