Hey i love this channel
1st
I'm a new subscriber and i love all of the flashbacks
He was also dealing with a huge stressor. His beloved wife has Parkinson’s, and that disease just keeps getting harder to deal with. The after house was amazing! His family was impressed, and rightly so. That turned out so well. God bless Dennis.
marideathy DEELZ very well said!!!
It's probably fairly rare that the hoarder is the one asking for help. I'm a retired chemical dependency counselor (whose mom was also a hoarder and I'm still sorting the trash from the treasures). There's lots of similarities between hoarding and chemical dependency. People that are forced into getting treatment by legal means don't have the internal motivation needed for treatment to work. This guy wanted help, and I'm excited for them!
this is so wholesome !!! i love how experts on this show still talk so kindly about the hoarders they help, even though some of those hoarders give them a hard time for simply doing their job.
My brain does the million ideas thing and the urge to hoard supplies is real! But in the end, if you get too much inventory to manage your brain gets scattered with all the variations of possibilities and it can be crippling!
He was right about that large antique horse. It was probably the most valuable object in the room.
The kids saying "It's damaged, there's a crack, it's worthless" was infuriating.
Matt you made me tear up when you cleaned the house for the family with two little boys who were your boys ages at the time. You gave that family a chance.
I like the new perspective he provided..
They think they can use it "some day, for something" but never do. I hope he continues to get rid of things , especially for his wife's sake inside of the house. Make her last days beautiful.
MATT! He’s the best! Matt and Zazio are the dream team lol
They are! They work well together. I like Dr. Zasio the most, though. She’s a sweetheart & I really do think she tries her best to understand where her clients are coming from & tries to find alternatives to help them. I feel like she really does care.
Ashley Gilliland that’s exactly how I feel about her too! I think *maybe* she can seem phony (do to how kind and understanding she is) to some people but I really do think she is very genuine!

3.24 minutes of Matt Paxton?? Oh, A&E, you made me so happy!! Thank you.
Sounds like a very sweet man he recognized the problem any came with some solutions a win-win for everybody
He also was on the verge of collapse from taking care of his wife. Why his kids didn't step up to help him is unconscionable.
The hoarding was one thing, but seeing how disconnected emotionally the kids were from both parents was disturbing. And adding to that the kids not wanting to know how poorly the mother was doing. I actually had to stop watching this episode midway through because I was so disgusted by the kids behavior smh
God bless and watch over this couple. Sweet of you to help them
matt is the sweetest
You must be blind and deaf. Matt talked to Dennis like dirt! Screamed in his face when confronted with FOURTEEN LAUNDRY BASKETS FULL OF HIS FATHERS TOOLS! Did some homework and they were sold! Along with giving away thousands of dollars worth of brick, cinder blocks, lumber and steel. That was horrible.
Matt and Dorothy are the best people in the world. They try to help the hoarders with kindness and compassion. I would love to meet them both. How they manage to help the hoarder realize that what they are doing is wrong from every aspect. I would never be able to do what they do.
I find it troubling that the children of Dennis were not aware of the condition where their mother was living, especially her bedroom. It was filthy. Perhaps she was better off mentally with Dennis but either the children or the city should have involved adult protective services and let Dennis visit her in a facility.
They were blissfully ignorant! Out of sight, out of mind! No excuse for that! They chose not to know
He is the ultimate grand master supreme of tetris.
My roommate and his relatives are really good at Tetris also. This guy comes close to them, but my roomie is still the grand Master of all hoarding shows I have seen. He can teach all of these hoarders how to do it better. I am not kidding.
One of the best episodes. Ever. Great job by Matt, the team and the family. AND good news at the update!
My second viewing. Matt, you are such a sweet, loving person. So are all of you guys and gals! I"m soo happy I'm not as "smart" as Dennis. Such wasted years😿😣
He might have felt pretty happy and engaged with his projects..............up to a certain point in time.
Yeah. This is big brain time.
Matt I think you are my favorite.
we make to many excuses for this.
It's refreshing to hear him say positive things about this man. It's hard to believe how negative so called experts are about some situations Ive seen. If i were a hoarder and watched a show where an expert said derogatory remarks about the hoarding situation, I'd never get help.
Is any of this stuff saleable or donated to charity, or do you literally dump it in a junkyard? There’s so much good stuff that these tragic hoarders could get money for??? Who pays for all the new furniture & furnishings that you bring in?? Wow from South Africa 🇿🇦
If you look at the cost of RVs on Craigslist, anytime I've listed something for a lowball get-it-now price, I have people calling all day until it's gone that day. Dennis could've definitely replenished some of his retirement funds had they done this. Also, California pays very well for recycling, so with thousands of pounds of metals..... yeah, Dennis lost a lot of value in this cleanup. I understand the crew needs to get paid, but Dennis and his wife should've had a lot more than a house without flooring and a new couch after this... no wonder he's tried his best to comply, and no wonder he was upset at the valuable items he lost, as you said- he's not stupid. I am glad his home is safer and remains so, but this was done so dirty!!
An unlimited brain is a stretch
Do the junk guys re-sell some of the stuff they take from the hoarders? Surely at least one of them would know that antiques, tools, etc, still have value.
But I guess that's how antiques become rare and valuable in the first place: because people who can't see the value of things throw them out.
Please make more!!
It's crazy to watch these older episodes when they come on YT, and remembering watching it on TV back in the day, and remembering what the cast looked like. Then I see how much they have aged on these updates. It's like.."where did the time go!? Matt and Corey aren't that old!" Lol
No, he just used his brain differently. My brain is big enough to see potential in things AND to see that the physical limitations have been overtaken. This man is actually stupid in areas where others are brilliant.
I remember he was really upset about his tools being tossed out. Did you ever find anymore in the hoard for him?
I don’t understand how this is an accurate assessment. Seeing the ‘potential’ in objects doesn’t have much to do with intelligence, moreso with creativity. Hoarders lack the ability to control their impulsive acquiring and don’t realize that they can’t be a master carpenter/metalworker/painter/weaver/mechanic or whatever all at once....this is almost making an excuse for the behavior by saying “yeah they’re SOOO smart and that’s why they have so much garbage everywhere”
I mean, Matt's not a psychologist or anything. And he may have been being a tiny bit facetious. "Big brain" is something of a meme nowadays afterall
Explanations help with acceptance. I can guess that’s what Matt is aiming to do here. Make the hoarder feel safe, accepted and therefore more likely to let him help move his junk out.
loupgarou95 he’s not, but the show works with multiple experts on the psychological side of hoarding so I’m surprised they’d put a video like this out
I disagree. He doesn’t utilize the things he hoard.
I would really like to see the whole episode but can’t find it! Anyone happen to know where to find it/have a link??
I almost want to hoard so I can hang out with Matt for a few days XD
Matt Rocks!! 👏🏽👏🏽
I thought Dr. Zasio was very unsupportive to Becky on her episode. When Becky's husband broke the vase, Robin did nothing. I wad very surprised at her attitude towards Becky. Very mean and unprofessional. Made me see her in a different way.
ok.. so the neater your house the smaller your brain. Yeah i got it, whatever. Seeing that most episodes the hoarders usually find even meaning in dog sh-t, I'll just go ahead and keep my small, but sanitary brain.
Love me some Matt 😍💖👌
I love This Show!!
He reminds me of my brother.

New episodes in a couple of weeks!
These are really useless. I don't find Matt's comments illuminating. What good is a sky-high IQ if you're not doing anything constructive with it?
He is happy in what he is doing and at the same time is able to care for his wife, both of whom are elderly so cut him some slack.
Cool
Cool 4th

Guess not so much?

The show claims the hoarder was so intelligent. In reality, he has a form of insanity. We wish him well in overcoming the problem.
