    Honestly, Steven bringing up talking to the people at MIT and Peter not even realizing that was an option was about the realist thing after the reality of Peter being a celebrity. It's played for laughs, but no one teaches kids these days that they can ask questions, argue back or make a case for themselves, so they don't even consider it.

    It’s interesting, Homecoming was about Peter wanting to be Spiderman but needing to choose to be Peter, and then FFH was about him wanting to be Peter but needing to choose to be Spiderman. So NWH feels very much about Peter wanting to balance both but needing to choose to be Spiderman at the cost of Peter Parker.

    Technically the spell at the end is new and different from the old one. The original spell was going to make everyone forget the revelation of Spider-Man being Peter Parker. After Endgame, the only Marvel movie I wanted to see afterwards was Far From Home. After watching that, I really wanted to know what was next for Spider-Man, none of the other movies made me care. Black Widow was too late, Eternals didn't make me want to watch, and I could wait for Shang-Chi on D+. But then No Way Home was being advertised and I knew I had to watch this. And you know what? It was amazing, I am 100% invested seeing what they do with Spider-Man next. They took EVERYTHING away from Peter in this movie, and I really want to see him rebound by fighting Kraven or Kingpin or someone.

    • @vampman87
      @vampman87 2 роки тому +3

      Vincent D'Onofrio has said multiple times that he wants Kingpin to fight Spider-man before he feels comfortable retiring the character (ie letting him die). Kingpin being a Disc One Final Boss in the next Spider-man film to show that Spidey's back to fighting "badass normies" and then proceeding to reveal the Venom symbiote as the true Big Bad of the movie could be interesting. I just hope they don't make the same mistakes they did in Spider-man 3. (Disc One Final Boss kicks Spidey's ass in round 1, Spidey merges with the symbiote, Spidey easily beats Disc One Final Boss in Round 2, then realizes how evil the Symbiote is and rejects it, causing the Symbiote to merge into another person and become Venom, the true Final Boss of the film. Spider-man 3 made the mistake of teaming Venom up with Sandman when he should have just fought Spidey alone, and the Green Goblin 2 was also an antagonist no one really wanted, so it was a mess.)

IF HE WAS DONE WELL. unfortunately he wasnt; the venom we got in SM3 was so poorly written that hardly anyone got on board with his arc. should have taken the time to really explore and flesh out venom's chraracter arc instead of introducing sandman, the real enemy no one wanted.

    • @rileywagner5788

      @@vampman87 Since they introduced Daredevil into the MCU, I could see them teaming up. Maybe Jameson tries to create Scorpion like he did in the comics, and the person who creates scorpion is Fisk. Spiderman figures this out and tries to stop him, but gets in over his head and teams up with Matt Murdock who does his lawyer shtick to try and put KingPin away, but Kingpin gets free, and Peter, still being pissed about the end of FFH, goes overboard and almost kills Fisk, but Daredevil steps into the middle. Daredevil and Spiderman get into a brawl where Peter ends up beating Matt, but Matt takes off his mask pleading to Peter's humanity, which results in him running away. Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy (whom is preferably introduced to Spiderman as a cat burglar, and she tries to steal from Fisk and Spiderman helps her after she realizes how much trouble she's in) tried to comfort Peter but to no avail. Which results in Peter getting even MORE angry and that's when he finds the symbiote, which brings him into the black suit arc of Spider-Man. I could see them introducing Kraven as an antogonist, this world famous hunter with superhuman speed strength and heightened senses who learns of this newly powered up Spiderman and gets soundly beaten by him, but still manages to outsmart and outwit Spiderman. Maybe even using MJ as a hostage (which could start the trend of Peter's double life where he's trying to be with MJ as Peter, but also be with Felicia as Spiderman). I could then see a potential where Peter trains Miles Morales, but because of the events of Black Suit Spider-Man, a new sinister six is formed. Preferably Kraven the hunter, Venom (Flash Thompson), Hobgoblin (Ned), KingPin, Volture, and Scorpion. Because Peter is fighting Kraven, who almost beat him before; Ned, a best friend that doesn't remember him; Venom, whom he knows has all of his abilities, scorpion and vulture, two people Peter feels guilty about, and KingPin as the ring leader, he has to learn to trust Miles Morales (mirroring Tony's trust in Peter) and it takes the both of them to stop the Sinister Six. Or, if they choose to not introduce Miles, it could be a situation where Peter and Daredevil Team up again. Early in the fight Peter manages to get through to Ned, who goes to distract venom as Spiderman man goes to fight Kraven. Peter wins but Ned gets beaten by Venom, and Spiderman manages to destroy Venom (probably due to some science B's), returning flash to normal. During the battle, Daredevil is fighting both vulture and scorpion, but then Vulture has a change of heart and turns on Kingpin, leading to a badly injured Peter and Daredevil not being able to stop Vulture from killing Kingpin (probably because Kingpin threatened his daughter cuz... You know... Kingpin).

Also, in the lab scene with the 3 Peters he makes the definitive statement, "I won't become a super villain and try to kill you." I saw the film tonight. Loved every bit of it.
    One of my favourite moments is that both Toby and Garfield spidermen wern't just right after the films. If you look and yes I know part of it is the actors are older, first Toby.
    The haircut. Clothes. Walk. is all a man who's gone well past the point of spiderman 3. When he worked for the bugle you could tell he was ends meet kinda clothing.
    When he met Garfield. MJ and Ned he had already figured out he was in another univers unlike Garfield who was excited about the concept.
    Also in the lab when he talked about MJ he talks about there relationship and says "We made it work" not "we're in a rough patch" or "We had something." like they were at the end of 3.
    This is a peter who probably has had years of living after the end of 3. When he said. "We made it work." With that nod and smile all I could think was... "May Day Parker levels of making it work?"
    Now on to Garfield spiderman the biggest clue that this is years is firstly he's already cured electro once before. I'm pritty sure and need to check but I am 70% sure he did not 'cure' electro in amazing 2.
    Also the biggest clue is that he openly says it's been years since 2 is the line "i stopped pulling my punches" any spider fan knows at most spidey is using 50% to 70% of his phisical strength to harm but not injure people.
    There's several moments and I think even a series of comics where it shows a version of spiderman where he does not care how much harm he does to people in the pursuit of stopping them.
    One of my favourite moments in amazing is when may dies near the end of civil war due to a hit by kingpin.
    The end result of that is peter beating him to near death and telling him how he'll choke on web fluid and die
    "I turn your entire respirator system in to one big solid chunk of useless tissue and webbing. It takes three seconds. One... two... three..."
    Now this fight. In amazing Spider-Man ultimate collection volume 5. Spidey fights kingpin as Peter Parker. We are talking loss of teeth. Skin being yanked and stretched and spidey at one point slapping... not punching. Slapping the kingpin to near death. This is a man who is 98% raw muscle. And he is getting the proverbial crap beaten out of him by a back hand.
    If garfield's spiderman is anywhere close to that the years show on him.
    So why did I bring this all up. Because this film could drum up interest for the spidey multiverse and if we get a glimpse of future Toby and Garfield spiderman life or even miles morals in "Spider men" that would be awsome

    One thing I genuinely hope they address in the next spiderman movie is... the immorality of Peter's decision to NOT tell them. Don't get me wrong, I FUCKING LOVED that scene and imo it made complete sense for the character, but... that wasn't his decision to make at the end of the day. To not tell them the truth "for their own good." It makes sense for him to do that, but both of them when they were told that they were about to lose their memories of him, were horrified and they didn't want for that to happen and were only comforted by the knowledge that Peter would come back to them. Throughout the movie there was this constant feeling of peter feeling bad that his best friend and girlfriend knew him because he got them caught in the crossfire. But time and time again they made their position clear "they are his friends and they will stand by him through thick and thin." In doing so, he effectively removed the agency of the two people closest to him.

    Absolutely loved it. The highlight for me was all of the interactions Toby and Andrew had with MJ, Ned, and of course peter. They all played off each other so well, there was a lot of humour and heart. Just fantastic. I am curious about the spell at the end, and how far it will reach. Strange says earlier that entire world will forget. But what about the people off world? Is it going to reach Fury and whoever else is on that ship? Thor? Guardians? Captain Marvel? They all know of Peter in some capacity.

    I absolutely loved this movie! Only complaint I really had with it though was what they did with Aunt May. Because they basically turned her from a narrative standpoint *into* Uncle Ben. Which feels really weird because yeah, Civil War implied that Peter already had his Uncle Ben "with great power" moment offscreen in the past. It was one of the things I specifically remember people praising Civil War for because it didn't do the Batman thing of killing the Waynes in every film. So giving that moment to Aunt May sort of raises the question of what important lesson did Uncle Ben impart, and it will be really awkward now if that prequel animated show just reuses "with great power" since it won't feel as genuine. Also in turning May's role in the story into Ben's, it does sorta kinda end up counting as fridging her, which is a biiit awkward. That said though, it was a very well acted and directed and written moment so it definitely works. It just gives me some issues on a more meta narrative level.

    • @thesalinator3557
      @thesalinator3557 2 роки тому +5

      When May said the line, Peter responded with "I know". So I guess the idea of the scene is less so about May imparting that wisdom unto Peter, and more so reminding him of why he does what he does. She's pulling him out of that state of self-pity he's been in due to his identity getting revealed and helping him reconnect with who Spider-Man is after the lines between Peter and Spidey were blurred.
      That said, I do see that May basically did replace Ben from a narrative perspective. Besides, when Ben shows up in Freshmen Year, I don't necessarily think they need to use the Great Responsibility line verbatim. Like, in Amazing Fantasy 15, the line is part of the narration box. It wasn't retconned into being something Ben said until way later. And considering that Peter says the meaning behind the line in Civil War without saying the line verbatim, I think it is possible that he received the sentiment from feeling guilty for Ben's death, but it wasn't put into those iconic words until May said them.

    • @peter42liter93

      aunt mays death was my only problem with this movie. lets say uncle ben DOESNT exist in this universe. even without uncle ben existing the moment aunt may dies still feels unnecessary because this peter even without uncle ben has already been through the pain of losing a mentor/parental figure with tony stark dying in endgame. and the whole reason tony stark died was literally because he ended up being a living example of “great power great responsibility” by sacrificing himself for the whole universe, and peter witnesses that firsthand. so not only has he already had a mentor/parent die but they also died imparting some wisdom to him hence why he says “i know” when aunt may dies telling him. idk man i know aunt may HAD to die because the writers really wanted everyone to forget who peter parker is and having aunt may alive would complicate that, its just her whole death and the way it was handled left a bad taste in my mouth from an otherwise really good fun movie with a lot of heart. also where is uncle bens gravestone? i dont even care if the moment happened with ben and peter anymore at this point i really do just wanna see some ACTUAL proof that uncle ben existed besides some letters on a briefcase that could actually mean anything

      @@peter42liter93 I actually didn't mind that Aunt May died. Not because I disliked her or anything like that; rather, I took a different viewpoint of it all. Ben's death was about "the cost of inaction when you have the power to take action", while May's death is more about "no good deed goes unpunished", to quote Green Goblin in the film.
      Imo, this movie was to teach Peter that sometimes, no matter how hard you try and regardless of your intentions, bad things will happen. It also teaches Peter about how you are defined not by the bad or good things in your life, but in your actions during those good or bad moments. That was my takeaway from the movie, and what I always liked about Spider-Man; he always tries to save people, taking the path less travelled, not the easy path.

      @peter42liter93 2 роки тому +1

      @@pfagan24 i can get where you’re coming from, but the whole “no good deed goes unpunished” lesson was also learned when the villains themselves just decided that they dont want peters help, aunt may didnt really have to die for him to learn that bad things will still happen even when trying to be good. idk to me at least it just felt like the writers decided to kill aunt may because they were really hell bent determined on the spell specifically being “everyone forgets peter parker” when instead it couldve been “everyone forgets spiderman is peter parker” cuz with that aunt may could live with no problems but if the spell is everyone forgets only peter parker exists then that gets complicated if aunt may is still alive. so yeah basically just feel like aunt may died cuz the writers wanted her to instead of because it was necessary for the plot, which im not a fan of it kinda just took me out of the movie. but ey everyone can have their own opinion and i dont hate people who like what i dont

      @@peter42liter93 I understand your point too, and you're entitled to your opinion too. If you didn't like it, that's perfectly fine.
      I just think the villains just deciding they don't want his help anymore doesn't actually fit the punished for a good deed theme. If they went with "you can't save everyone", then the villains turning him down makes enough sense, but it's not really a punishment for them to just say no. It could have been Ned or MJ in May's place, but someone was definitely going to have to be truly hurt (at minimum) because of Peter's actions for the good deed punishment to work. Slap on wrist vs cutting off a hand, sort of thing.
      Again those are my thoughts on it, and you're absolutely welcome to disagree. Either way, it was a pretty damned impressive movie they had almost no chance of pulling off, but they damn well did imo.

    For the first time in a Spider-Man live action film, they did multiple antagonists and it did not suck ass. And it took a reflection of all their past movies in order to do it. It is literally a “third time’s the charm” kind of deal.
    Personally, while Scorpion or Kraven would be great choices, for the next villain, I wanna see Kingpin. Why? Because not only would it connect back to the street level New York style that Spider-Man is known for, it would give us Daredevil, not just Matt Murdock, teaming up with Spider-Man to stop him. And yeah, we did already have a Spider Man film with Kingpin as the main villain, but not in live action and not with Daredevil. Also, yes to Black Cat, now is the perfect time to introduce her.
    Overall, this was the best MCU Spider-Man film for me bar none. I didn’t love the first two for how childish they seemed compared to the rest of the MCU, but this one felt like witnessing that child we saw Peter as in those films essentially becoming a man. It’s the best live action Spidey film since Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. And now, Sony and Disney have over a billion reasons to make more movies with him.

He never specifically states that he lost anyone, instead saying something along the lines of "when bad things happen, and you could have done something about it, then the bad things happen because of you". Random thought about Obsourne/Oscorp. I think for Spidey 4, Peter ends up trying to track down and "save" all four of the villains he met before they can become villains. So he helps Connors with his research and stops him from becoming Lizard, he helps Octavius, and maybe even meets Harry and Norman. And in saving Norman from becoming Green Goblin, we instead somehow get Hobgoblin. Helping Connors maybe somehow gets us to Scorpion, or maybe Kraven. Something like that.

    So first loved the movie. But I'd like to lean into ideas for the future and what we could get from the next standalone Spiderman movie and beyond
    Since we have Peter knowing something is up with Matt Murdock I can see him and Daredevil teaming up as street level heroes. This would likely lead them to crossing paths with Kingpin and forming a big street level villain with him. We have the Dark Avengers/ Thunderbolts (same or different I don't remember) being formed possibly by Kingpin. So I could see him hiring Kraven the Hunter to well. Hunt down Spiderman and Daredevil (maybe). During this time we have the Symbiote (who might lead into Null the Symbiote God with Thor having Gorr the God Killer and his sword being made by Null plus No-Where meaning this or similar events did happen in aeons past) so now there is a self replicating species in the MCU
    This Symbiote seems to (my thoughts) have the last thoughts of Venom being find Spiderman so it would likely track its way up taking time to get there. Maybe being captured by one of the many alien concious groups and governments on earth. Possibly leading to an Agent Venom situation and this getting it to New York in the 5th Spiderman movie. So some long term set up. Leading to it eventually ditching its current host to join Peter after a fight. Alternatively it could find its way to Flash as Flash seems to have a bit of a desire to be a hero and seen, has some lonely parenting issues and generally seems ripe for emotion tugging friendship/ manipulation. So he could take the Symbiote even for a bit or possibly MJ could (as I believe she became She-Venom at some point in a comic). So we could get the Symbiote as this ambigious entity that doesn't fall good or evil but learns from its hosts (though if a child of Venom like Carnage would it also need to feast on brains or chocolate?) But the Symbiote can then connect with the wider world. Be it's own thing and effect the MCU as a whole. Especially if Null is a thing in it
    So after my little symbiote loving splurge I think we'll get Kraven and Kingpin for the next film and then Venom/ Symbiote turning up. As for the last. Who knows there aren't any shortages of a rougues gallery for Peter and Marvel as a whole. Plus this could be a good 8 years off and who knows what state the world of the MCU will be in then with Secret Invasion incoming (which will also be interesting as remember Peter isn't aware of Skrulls as he was susprised to learn Fury was offworld so he would have questions)
    Edit: Miles can easily come in now. I can see potentially after Strange 2 Mutants start to pop up and so Miles non spider abilities start to manifest and later he gets his spider abilities. Confused and unsure Peter comes across him and maturing takes the role of a mentor on Miles and the two work as a team (maybe Miles gets the Symbiote or saves Peter from it)

    The minute I heard the laugh and saw the Pumpkin Bomb - I knew it was Dafoes Goblin, and much like Keaton being in Flash has me sold seeing the film when I can when I wasn't otherwise interested because I loved the hell out of his Green Goblin as hammy as it is. And I'm glad to hear the rumors were true about Cox (many people had thrown it out, and Feige in an interview made a very specific comment that hinted he was going to be back as Matt Murdock).
    Which I'm hoping when I see it, it gives me some drive to actually want to watch the movies again, because the last Marvel film I actually enjoyed was Black Panther, other than Eternals, which I haven't seen yet, every film has maybe had some great moments, but overall been honestly at best mediocre or outright disliked, and usually because of writing, plot and honestly villains not being that great again. And yes - I include infinity War/Endgame and Thanos on that list for a number of reasons including all the issues in Thanos's plan (For all the people who talked about the 'plot hole' where in Guardians 1 it says Gamorra is the last of her people yet Thanos says her world is a paradise - they don't seem to realize that wiping out half the population that survived the original attack, and the damage to shelters, food stocks, etc may have actually doomed the civilization and his line about it 'being a paradise' is not a lie because he is unaware that the civilization has collapsed and gone extinct while he was doing the same to countless other worlds - which that potential outcome on any given world is one of my many issues with the plan). I liked Hawkeye so far, even if a bit slow and the other shows, but the movies are just dragging - again issues with Endgame and really Infinity War before it this should have been setting up Phase 4 and a continuation a bit more not Phase 4 being almost a ground up rebuild.

Another issue is that when you bring up Uncle Ben, even for a flashback, it has to revolve and create and overall lesson. What does bringing this up resolve throughout the movie. I think there has do be a lot of thought if you are going to do that. One way that they can do this without taking away what happened to Aunt May is the animated series that they are going to do with Spiderman.

    I've always wanted a Willem Dafoe joker and if this is the closest we ever get to that I'll be happy

    Think i actually caught some spiderman game references. Dont know is “Feast” is a comic thing, id never heard of it till the game. And the attack peter does that sends him and goblin through a stone balcony in thier first fight looks real familiar

    I REALLY want Venom in the MCU. But I think that a whole movie with just the black suit story is a really good idea. And Black Cat would also be a great edition to that kind of story

    I personally could see the next Spiderman go 2 ways if Black Cat is involved like you guys are speculating; Kraven being introduced because Felecia Hardy robbed him at some point (plus we get the ultimate hunter going after 2 animal themed characters), or they could pull something off like the first Spiderman DLC where she robs Hammerhead and Kraven is a hitman hired to deal with them. Either way could be an ideal setting for the end credits to involve J. Jonah Jameson contacted Gargon to work on the Scorpion origins. As for Daredevil, I really wish the Netflix series was canon in the MCU because those were fantastic arcs with him trying to stop Kingpin, interacting with Frank Castle and Elektra, to the semi-final conclusion of putting away Kingpin almost for good and bringing in Bullseye. The big question regarding the Fantastic 4 Spiderman cross over is how are they going to introduce Dr. Doom? Based on comic lore he was at one point a contender to replace Iron Man both in bank funds and genius technology innovations.
