      i liked mythbusters but they did steal most of their ideas. The whole idea of the show as well as some of the myths were stolen from a show called Brainiac. Brainiac even had a recurring segment where they'd see what could survive against thermite that Mythbusters took alot of ideas from.

    • @bostonrailfan2427
      @bostonrailfan2427 4 роки тому +7

      Arthas Menethil nope...they got the idea from the glut of fact or fiction and urban legend shows that popped up during the late 90s but put a new spin on it. Brainiac was the same exact way!
      As for the duct tape myths being “stolen”...they made no attempt to claim that they were original ideas, only that they were actually trying to create what Red had done. It wasn’t stolen: they acknowledged him in the first special!

    I remember when i was kid at Niagara Falls , 1960s . Tourist trap had these "barrels" from people who went over Niagara fall in them . Irony was that one guy survived several times going over the Niagara Falls and later he got killed slipping on a banana peel hitting his head on sidewalk just a five or so feet under his head .

    • @arthas640

      i know how that feels: i've fallen off a roof 3 times without being hurt, had a small jackhammer dropped on my head, as well as several rocks and tools dropped on my head all without much issue. Then a couple months ago i tripped in the bathroom, hit my head, knocked myself out for a few minutes, broke my molar, and gave myself a moderate concussion. A year or so ago i also managed to break my foot falling off the first step to my porch but didnt break anything falling down the top of a 2 story staircase. It's always the small stupid stuff that hurts the worst.

    • @elfpimp1
      @elfpimp1 4 роки тому +4

      @@bostonrailfan2427 It's not about the cost of the material to test the myth, it's about the aerodynamics that the dimples effect. I can dimple an entire car without having to add ay new material.
      If I move to Oklahoma in tornado season, I can have mother nature do it for me. (just need to protect the windows, Lol)

      Read greens method of using a ball-peen hammer to Dent the metal of the car to make the dimples doesn't add thousands of pounds of weight in modeling clay so it actually could potentially save you money on gas, assuming you go over it with a few cans of Rust-Oleum after you make those dimples so all that damage to your paint job doesn't cause the car to rust out before its next inspection sticker.

      btw . I was hitchhiking across the US from the Northeast out to the west coast . I'm in the very flat middle of Kansas. I get a ride from this guy driving an odd looking flatbed truck with these sort of long shelves on top of the bed . I asked him what he did for a living . He said he transported caskets(not wood coffins) to cemeteries . It was stormy when he picked me up and i felt this is a bad omen . The sky turned black . He had to stop under a road overpass on , if i remember correctly , was I-70 back then . i thought this is it for me, say your prayers . Some of the other stopped motor vehicle occupants got out climbed up the hill and crouched in the corner where the hill meets the bottom of the overpass . i couldn't figure that one out . of course everything turned out ok , since the tornadoes touched down a couple miles off .
