Hey John. I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I love them. I've used a few of your recipes, and they're always fantastic. Anyway, I know your videos aren't really about this, but you and your husband living in a gorgeous house with your kids gives me hope for my own future. Im obsessed with salsa. Even though Im not mexican, and love mexican food, I got a recipe for this retired floridian restauranteur, and its the best.
Your is a little more complex in flavor, which definitelly will make me try it, but there are a couple of strokes of genius (stupidly enough I never thought of using the food processor and I always dice everything by hand, lol).

Nice to learn to make salsa in the food chopper unit. no waste of the tomato juice. I live in rural western Canada and tomatoes are very expensive in winter and spring season. Good to know canned whole tomatoes can be used in place of fresh product during the off season months and when traveling in an RV as refrigeration is not required.

I make a number of different types of salsa. The one I make that is similar to this one, I steam the tomatoes, roast Serrano chilis over the burner as well as an orange bell pepper. While everything is still warm, I add all with some cumin and fresh lime juice to the blender. While still warm, I pour it into a bowl with freshly hand chopped cilantro and green onions. I feel the warm ingredients help the flavors to meld together, especially when adding the hot tomatoes to the blender with the cumin. I don't add any salt because I don't want it to make the salsa watery. I add salt as I serve. Once cooled, serve. No garlic in this one.

It is hilarious that you just posted this. So me and my boyfriend just attempted quesadillas with homemade salsa. Except he doesn't like tomato chunks, so we didn't have real tomatoes. And neither of us like onion pieces, so we didn't have real onions either. Oh and our recipe called for fresh coriander, yeah none of that either.
So our first attempt was with puree, dried onion flakes, dried ground coriander and red wine vinegar. I thought it tasted ok, but he deemed it inedible. So then we tried again but with ketchup and onion salt (lawd have mercy haha) needless to say, I won't be suggesting you swap out your recipe for ours 🤣🤣

You use the exact same ingredients that I use for my salsa, except that I roast all of my vegetables first, either in a cast iron skillet or in the oven. I roast them until the skins is black, and then add all of them to the food processor like you do with the remaining ingredients. It really does add another level of flavor with that charred skin.

Love watching you John! I’m allergic to garlic and onions, yes it’s real :) I would love a recipe with green tomatillo’s. Thank you!

Salsa....i have never eaten but all the tomato salsa looks like sister sibling of good old salad. In India we eat variety of salads and there is something called Masala Papad which is the Indian version of salsa and the nacho chips.

...🌱🪴🌷Very nice Salsa 💃 recipe; I do luv a heavy-on-the-garlic Avocado Lime Salsa.

It's a lot easier than what I thought! Salsa always intimidated me. Not anymore! Lol

Yes to ketchup with corn chips, quick and easy. Ketchup= tomato sauce in Australia. Has a lot of sugar though. I also add a little to my soups.

I used to eat my rolled tacos with Ketchup when I was a kid! Will have to try that again to see if it's still as good as I remember 🙂

There is a cantina in Texas that has a salsa called Sweet Rita. I cannot replicate it! It doesn't have any fruit in it either. It definitely has sweet onion and I think it may have some green bell pepper. It's a great mix of slightly sweet and medium heat. When I go visit friends and family I always pick some up, put it in a mason jar and bring it back (to Arizona), it never lasts two days, everyone loves it. Have any recipes or ideas for a "sweet Rita" recipe? Thanks for all the fun videos and great recipes. We've tried many of yours, we enjoy them all but your cupcakes have caused some serious addictions around here.
