  • IMPROVED FAMILY CAPACITY TO SUPPORT CHILDREN
There's an African proverb that states, snd i quote, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"
RMC Tseikuru CYDC focuses on building capacities of the caregivers to be self-supporting. This helps in reducing dependecy on the FCP.
The recently introduced new HVC model worked well in our FCP presenting 90 parcent success.
The 5 caregivers of the 7 selected HVC participants had no idea on doing business but they were trained by their fellow caregivers how to run small scale businesses.
Let's hear what they had to say after the support.
Caregiver for child No 0065 Milkah Mwende Mwinza used to sell local brew, her child would come to the project to take lunch due to lack of food at home.
A capital boost of Ksh 10k has helped her life take a different direction.
Listen to Caregiver Caregiver for Child no 0170, Mama Joshua Muithya who has 4 Children in University, along side the sponsored one, was so pressed to a point where she wouldnt be able to pay support her Children in school.
Through the New HVC Capital boost model, the caregiver's business have helped her pay for her Children's University fee as well as clearing the account 510 levies. She is a happy soul now.
Let's also listen to Patrick Muimi's Aunt (0131) who was supported to start a business and is able to support the entire family comfortably.
Junior Muthui's Mother (0017) began Mitumba Business which is working so perfectly
Alongside the HVC new model. All our caregivers are in Cosalo groups where we support them adequately. 3 groups are doing Goats enterprise, they initiate an a project, make a contribution through their table banking profits, then they request a top up support from the project.
This is a good way to go since it increases ownership of the income generating activity. We have so far supported 2 groups namely Mumo wa Ngai self help group which has 22 members and Muuo wa Ngai self Help Group which has 13 Members.
Each of the 2 Groups raised 30,000 each and the FCP supported each group with ksh50,000 to ensure they purchase goats for every member.
We also partnered with Tseikuru Technical Institute, catering Department to train 20 Grace Ladies Self help group members on Catering. They were issued with Certificates at the end of the training. The caregivers have been providing outside catering for the community events.
Caregiver Participants No 0056 and 0057 secured a Cook Position at Tseikuru Primary School just by presenting the Certificate from the training. This brought the difference.
    Thank you!
