The resulting curls to me just looked like a fifties curl set after they’ve been brushed out a bit. And the style you gave yourself afterward was gorgeous!
That was fun to watch! You have gorgeous hair, and the result when you first took the rollers out was the look I desperately wanted to have as a young teen. My hair was thin and curly, unfortunately. That pink and black case was so sixties - such a cool look. Pink was the new color back then. When I convinced my dad to let me have a pink princess phone I was just thrilled. “Made by Popeil” was a phrase we heard over and over back in those days. They inundated the air waves with their TV commercials for vegetable choppers and the unforgettable “Ronco Pocket Fisherman”, some sort of portable fishing gadget. We never stopped to think about how many people actually ever felt the need to pull out a fishing rod as they went about their day!🤣
I literally thought you look like Betty Draper when you had the fresh set. Look great! Congratulations on your sub count!!! You deserve so much success!!!! I love your videos!!!
So fun to see how these gadgets work! Even if they weren't the tightest curls, I still think they look very pretty and make for some nice soft waves :)
One of the things my mother would do was to take one curler out and close the lid so the other curlers would stay hot. You could also leave the curlers in a bit longer even though they cooled down to get a better set. Love the memories your videos bring back.
You videos bring such joy in the midst of physical challenges. I always end up laughing as I have used (& still have) so many of the items you have & call 'vintage'. Thank you Laci, for bringing sunshine into our days ❤
Aaaaugh love this series 💛💛 I wear 60s /70s vintage clothing , I’m also a vintage hair gadget collector and it’s so nice seeing other like minded people x
I like the way your hair turned out! I am 60 years old and it was fun watching you do this because it reminded me of my childhood and my mom using rollers!💖
I am so in love with your videos and your life. I’m so happy I found you on accident. I was YouTubing the Wonder Years and you popped up after a video. You autoplayed and I was HOOKED 😍🌟
Pretty!! 1940s look! or Soft 60s! Classy look! with a mink stole & silk evening gown & silk gloves! My mom wore her hair like that & dressed up like that.
I love these gadget videos!! Please make more. The gadget videos, the vintage hauls where you explain the history of items a little, or the tours like your home tour and the pyrex showcase are my favorites. You are so pleasant to listen to and the content is interesting - makes for a perfect break in my day or something to wind down in the evening!
You are amazing and I recall my mother’s wardrobe and I wish I kept her 1940’s , 50 &. 60’s clothes ! I am just compelled to watch all of your episodes . I just started watching and shared them with everyone on my social media pages !❤️Oh and I am a HUGE thrift shopper moving back east to CR to an older home to buy antiques and retro clothing . My style from the 1930’s & 40’s! ❤️🌹🐞
How fun! My older sister had some of those steam rollers (a more modern version), and I thought they were the coolest thing ever. And let’s not forget the bonnet hairdryer with the hose! 😂👍 I hope your sister’s salon made it through the past several weeks, and I hope you get to return to work (if you wish). The theatres where I live are still closed. Have a good week! 😊
Oh my goodness! When I seen the thumbnail picture all I could think is how much you look like Cindy Lu Who's Momma on "The Grinch" movie. The end your rollers look like the peppermint candy ends that she has her hair rolled up in! I LOVES IT!!!!!
My mom had that set! The foil label on the case started letting go in the 1980's. She used them every morning from my earliest memories until sometime in the mid '80's. That set made the move from Nova Scotia to Toronto to Dallas to Phoenix. I think the heat in phx made mom finally retire them. She used to do my hair with them sometimes but my super long hair was a bit too much. Those rollers were so hard too!
Loved these Gadget Videos! Well Laci you look like a very young and vibrant MM , she use to style her like that. Just love your videos. Thanks for brightening our day! ❤️
This looks like a softer curl as compared to the wet set curls that you normally do. But, I think for days when you want a softer curl, this may do the trick.
That final style looked divine. Even straight out of the rollers, your hair was lovely. The last time I curled my hair, my cousin told me I looked like Nellie Oleson.
In the 90s, I used the Caruso steam rollers which were a foam roller. You would fill the unit with water and a little salt, place the lid on, and the steam would come out the top. You would place the curler on an opening in the top, and it would heat quickly. I think the foam held the heat effectively, and I would get a nice curl. You would also twist the hair before rolling the hair. They had a nice clip that fit snugly on the roller, and you could also heat the clip.
Have you ever watched UA-cam old tv time? Just watched “practical dreamer” (1957) and thought of you. The graphics are so 50’s . I’ve been on a nostalgia kick lately. Must be because I’m getting older but I miss those days before computers and only 4 TV stations. Lol
I believe I have the clips for hot rollers because I have a set that's probably about 25 years old. If you're interested, let me know. I know what you mean about it not being a tight curl but it looked super cute! ~have a great day! Lori
I've been watching Bewitched all day and this style of rollers looks like something they probably used for some hairstyles on the show! Samantha generally had and outward flip but some of the other character's hair looked exactly like that! I thought it came out really pretty! I love the vintage gadget videos, really any video you make is an immediate mood booster. Thank you so much for making them, Laci you are a true gem!
I remember having a Clairol version of a steam hairsetter. With my fine hair, the regular kind always worked better for me. I can't believe what resellers are asking for stuff like this on Ebay and would never pay their prices. Thank God for thrift stores, church rummage sales and garage sales. I've found very nice vintage things very cheaply that way.
So excited for new video. I really like your vibe. I love how happy you are with your life. I’m not really a vintage gal but I so enjoy these! They made some kind of fishing thing too.
I just love these "vintage gadget" episodes. They are kind of like being at a really cool archaeological treasure hunt, with a very fun and brave explorer. I'm so glad you, you're family and friends are safe and healthy. I pray y'all remain so.🔭🔎📚📹👍
My mom had the ‘90s version of this thing, by Conair. She used to have me sit in front of the bathroom mirror with her and would set my hair before some of my school dances or plays. And... my hair is straight just like yours, and the set produced basically the same result.
I think this looks good!. If the curlers were smaller it would be a tighter curl. Also you could use some sort of set gel and leave the curlers in a bit longer. Anyhow, adorable. Love all your videos.
We called the style you achieved a "pageboy". One year in the '60's everyone was wearing that style and then another year everyone was wearing a "flip" where the hair curled up instead of under. Have you ever seen the old t.v. show Patty Duke? Patty wore the flip and her identical cousin wore the pageboy. Fun to remember!
I am loving your videos. Your hair color is amazing. I used steam curlers for years, mine were super hot, burned my fingers. Took a while to cool down, getting ready to go out, I stuck my head in the freezer to speed up the process. The curls would last through a night of dancing though.🐈
The steam curlers gave you a soft curl with loads of volume. That curled under look was popular in the 1970's--Cheryl Tiegs, Shelley Hack and so on. Looks cute!
I have naturally wavy frizzy curly giant hair. It takes about half a day for me to get it under control:wash,blow-dry, individually curl each section with curling iron. It's definitely a huge undertaking. I've tried several curlers including hot rollers and sleep in curlers, unfortunately nothing works except for my original routine. I really am lucky to have natural wave but it's very high maintenance 😬.
It came out very cute. Your hair looks perfect for the 60s smooth style that they wore. Propel brothers made many different items well into the 70s and I even think the 80s.In all, It came out very cute.
my name is Judy I am a new subscriber I live in North Eastern Pennsylvania .I just found your site today I am so very happy I did You have made my day & many more days to enjoy your beautiful site Thank you for being you !! I had those rollers I always got my hair so tangled up when I was taking them out !! i still like the way it set your hair ! Have a lovely day ( Judy )
Ok but that’s super pretty! I’m midway through and you just took them out - it’s definitely a more 1960’s curl set than 50’s. Annnnd then you just said that 😂 I love it on you actually.
I think your hair turned out perfect ! Brushed outward you'd have a flip. Many years ago I had an electric set of curlers that had those spiney things on them which were just awful on my hair, as my hair would get caught in them. Then I found velvet (flocked) rollers and we still have them. I gave them to my daughter who loves to use them. I love the colors of the set you got. Fun find ! tfs 💗
Just bought these at an estate sale a couple days ago, mine didn’t come with the clips as well but I’m so thankful after forever I finally found your video to help me haha!! It looks perfect on you and can’t wait to buy some clips to try it on myself soon :) thanks so much for the help haha !!
I found your channel a couple of days ago and have even binge watching! I am in love with the 50’s, so feminine and the simpler times. You look amazing and do the 50’s well. Off to watch more videos!!!
Oh my goodness, I’m sure my mum had that exact set back in the early 70s in Australia. I remember the pink and black box. I was fascinated by them, the smell of the steam and the sound of the box clicking as it heated up.
Oh wow found your youtube channel after looking you up because of that viral AOL video spotlight. Also the fact you have commented on like every comment here is crazy haha @_@ Your house is beautiful! I actually changed a room in my place to be a take back to the late 80s early 90s which was my childhood. Vintage arcade machine, VHS player and old CRT, old comic books, the furniture and the old wall panels and everything.
Vintage tech had more soul than modern stuff, in my opinion. Even if it isn't something that you'd use every day, it still looks great as a home decoration. Have you seen the Philco Predicta radio and television from the 1950s? They are the coolest.
I can relate to the straight as a board hair comment... sadly no amount of heat will ever retain a curl on my head! I also love the color of your hair!
You might find large crocodile clips work I think Revlon heated rollers use that style of clip. I wish I lived in the USA I have lots of heated rollers you could have them. You did a great job but then you always do your hair really great x♥️🙏💋🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
My mum had steam curlers in the 70s!!! I used to play with them (without the steam, just dry and cool). They were so spiky!. I must have been really lost for entertainment 😂
Hi Laci! I recently found you on UA-cam. Fun watching everything. May I recommend using butterfly clips to hold the rollers into place. This is what we often did when when I was working as a cosmetologist. 💜😉
I love the curls and the look!! I loved using hot rollers in high school back in the early 90’s. Now that I’ve embraced my natural curls and waves, I don’t use fun things like this anymore because it’s too much work😂
The curl it gave you looks really good on you. It's just not what your hair usually looks like. Still beautiful though. It's surprising to me that some of the vintage gadgets still work considering how old they are and they probably have just been packed away for all this time. Really enjoyed this!
Thanks Lacy, I love ❤️your vintage gadgets videos. I like the way you look after the curls but It looks like the curls might not last long time, I hope they did. Happy Mother’s Day a little late💐🌷👜👗
The resulting curls to me just looked like a fifties curl set after they’ve been brushed out a bit. And the style you gave yourself afterward was gorgeous!
Thanks so much!! Not quite what I’m used to but it did turn out cute! 😊

Your hair looked beautiful both before and after the styling!

So fun to see how these gadgets work! Even if they weren't the tightest curls, I still think they look very pretty and make for some nice soft waves :)
Thank you sweet friend! It is fun to test them out 😊
The curlers worked fabulous- when you took them out your hair looked almost like your finished style
Looks wonderful 😊
Thanks so much!

Yes!! I wasn’t doing that at first and then thought about it about halfway through so I started closing the lid between curlers.
You videos bring such joy in the midst of physical challenges. I always end up laughing as I have used (& still have) so many of the items you have & call 'vintage'. Thank you Laci, for bringing sunshine into our days ❤
You are so adorable. I rather like the softer curl. I had a set of steam rollers in the 70's I think. I love your channel!
Thanks so much! Oh how fun! I bet they were similar.

Ahh what a fun memory! Thank you!
I used these back in the 60s and 70s. They're the only hot rollers I've ever tried that gave me a lasting curl. I'd buy another set in a heartbeat.
I am so in love with your videos and your life. I’m so happy I found you on accident. I was YouTubing the Wonder Years and you popped up after a video. You autoplayed and I was HOOKED 😍🌟
I looooved the Wonder Years as a teen. Good "accident" 😉 that you found her.

I have such big curls I'd kill for straight hair. I've never understood people who want their hair curly 😂
Congrats on 66k subs wow Laci 👏💜
Haha it’s so funny how that happens huh?! We always want the type of hair we don’t have.
Thanks so much!! Thanks for being here!!
Me too😂 but i straightened my whole hair permanently last month for the first time in 22years, aaaand i regret it 😅🤣
I have huge giant hair too which I love but hate also because it's so high maintenance.
Loved these Gadget Videos! Well Laci you look like a very young and vibrant MM , she use to style her like that. Just love your videos. Thanks for brightening our day! ❤️
Laci, I bet you could get some clips from Amazon! They have EVERYTHING!!!!
You have such beautiful hair, really takes to vintage styles so well and it suits you. You pull it off so well 🌼📺👒👛🎀🕰
An actual angel 👼 on earth 🌍🙏🏻❤️ you have such beautiful hair and style even if it’s 1960’s
You’re so sweet thank you!
This looks like a softer curl as compared to the wet set curls that you normally do.
But, I think for days when you want a softer curl, this may do the trick.
Yes for sure. If I ever want to get this type of curl I definitely know how now!
Laci, you are so much fun. Whenever the day has been a bit complicated, I find you and my day gets simplified. 🌹
That final style looked divine. Even straight out of the rollers, your hair was lovely. The last time I curled my hair, my cousin told me I looked like Nellie Oleson.
Ahh thank you! I was quite happy with how it turned out!
I love the Vintage Gadgets series. ❤️ Honestly for the products being as old as they are they work pretty good. The hair style was cute. I liked it 😊
Oh I’m so glad! Thank you! Yes they really do stand the test of time!
My mom has been using these since 1965. I even have my own set, too. Having the right clips helps. 😁😁

I have naturally wavy frizzy curly giant hair. It takes about half a day for me to get it under control:wash,blow-dry, individually curl each section with curling iron. I love the curls and the look!! I loved using hot rollers in high school back in the early 90’s. Now that I’ve embraced my natural curls and waves, I don’t use fun things like this anymore because it’s too much work😂
Thanks so much babe! Ahh I think naturally curly hair is so pretty!
I have that same steam curler set. I love it. I didn't know it came with the other things
Oh nice!
The curl it gave you looks really good on you. It's just not what your hair usually looks like. Still beautiful though. It's surprising to me that some of the vintage gadgets still work considering how old they are and they probably have just been packed away for all this time. Really enjoyed this!
Thanks so much! Yeah, things were really built to last!
Thanks Lacy, I love ❤️your vintage gadgets videos. I like the way you look after the curls but It looks like the curls might not last long time, I hope they did. Happy Mother’s Day a little late💐🌷👜👗
Thank you! Oh I’m glad you like them. You’re right, this set didn’t last as long as my typical wetset does. Oh well!
Those were the BEST curlers. Used them all the time. But I got curls
I love the volume and the loose curl look ❤
Thank you! I did really like the volume.
