Another wonderful episode. They keep getting better. Can’t thank you two enough for sharing this stuff with us. Buying appreciated and inspiring. ❤
Another amazing installment of this awesome series, thank you both so much for bringing us along and letting us be part of your world. The next year is going to be a very long wait but my it is going to be worth it for sure. 🧡🧡🧡
It will be WELL worth it. And if you need any help holding over, you can always revisit these or watch the Katmai bear cam ;) Thats what I do!
@@BoundForNowhere revisiting these goes without say 😍, when do the bear cams back online from hibernation?

Been watching your Alaska series, very pretty. Main takeaway, you guys eat a ton of food!
Yes we do. We like to eat ;)
What an amazing trip. As always beautifully shot. I head to Alaska to paddle for 2 weeks in less than a month. I call alaska, my drug of choice. Glad you enjoyed it.

Awesomeness
We just found your channel! Your productions are great and realistic! Exactly like real camping and exploring is! Our adult daughters enjoy your shows as well and they travel a lot!
I especially enjoy not having to put up with requests to follow or advertisements from sponsors from you that is great!
We can tell you really enjoy your life style and do some really great trips, including your risk assessment process and why you stop and turn around and avoid call search and rescue!
Great work and great adventures!
Thank you so much for the kind words. We think it's important to talk through these things as there is always something to learn for experiences like those! Thank you for watching and we hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
inspirational...
Thank you so much!
Another great video guys,take care

Thank you Darren for the kind words! You are so kind. We love sharing "the whole story" because it is real. Anything good doesn't come easy and the same goes for experiences out here on the road. Thanks for being here with us for the ride!
I've been addicted to your videos! I used to live in Nikiski, just outside of Kenai, and absolutely love seeing all the local sites again! Thank you and safe journey!
Glad you like them! And glad to hear we are doin the area proud!
Love the picture of you both on the summit of Gros Morne Mountain!!! Had no idea you travelled to this neck of the woods. Wonderful series and all the best to you both on your world of adventure. Cheers from Corner Brook, NL, Canada!
Now, who doesn't want to get dropped in the wilderness of Alaska after seeing this episode? 🤩 Just epic!!
Ha thanks! Yeah it was such a special experience!
@@BoundForNowhere ❤️
Thanks guys and Happy Anniversary! 💙
Thank you so muchhhhh!
Happy belated anniversary!!!🎉❤
Thank you so much 😀 It was a good one!
To avoided being wet and cold , bring a Woolrich Alaskan Wool shirt, 12 oz., When 100 0/0 wet, still provides 80 0/0 warmth (compared to dry). High tech gear not good, when wet!! It could kill you!! Your trips are amazing, enjoyed your video's of the upper mitten!! UP!!
Another great video guys! What a stunning place. Alaska is definitely on our bucket list and your series is not helping our fomo 🤣Keep up the great content!
Hmmm at least I didn't miss it. See yall soon. Looking forward to it. Newb here.
Looks like Alaska West Air out of Nikiski. They are great, very professional
Ya. my neighbors
I assume you hear this all the time, and I’ve been meaning to make this comment earlier (I have been watching since the start of the AK series), but WOW! You guys have talent. I watch plenty of content but you guys have produced something that is of superior quality. The narration, camera work, intro., etc. are just a cut above. Thank you!
Wow thank you so much for the kind words! That means so much to us. We pour a lot of love into what we make and I'm happy to hear it's shining through!
Love your videos, but I gotta say, your intro is just amazing!!
Glad you enjoy it! Owen really out did himself!
the intro graphics is so damn good, def not a skipper. kinda reminds me of the game the long dark :)
Thanks Owen really out did himself with it!
That was another fabulous episode and while a tough one for you, a spectacular place. Thank you! Not knowing anything about hunting, we're wondering what happens to the goat carcass on fly-in trips. (I've got that same jacket and got soaked on our last trip...I plan to buy more product and treat it again in hopes it's still a worthwhile investment. I like arcteryx products and have good experience with them otherwise.)
Just gonna say this rn… the BP Creme Brûlée is the best packaged backcountry food… period. Peak Refuel… wonderful. Backpackers Pantry… very good. BP Creme Brûlée? Rivals thanksgiving dinner! Also… nice Alpacka. I wouldn’t trade mine for a chance to get my sister back from her kidnappers. I know, because it’s been 3 years now since she’s been gone. Miss you sis
Hahah you really get me! All of their deserts are so good 🤤
happy anniversary #couplegoals
You are so sweet!
When the north wind blow, it get 20 dg colder I shut the window. Driving up there is pretty brave with this return of a late winter, watchout for late snow storm then it over. But on the good side the mosquitoes might be hibernating in caves with the bear. LOL
Very true!!
Spectacular! I was hurting inside for you all having to decide to be pull out early due too weather. That’s been a theme of 2022 it seems, given it’s April 17 and it was 30F this morning while last Tuesday it was 87F and 36 hrs later it was 34F. Spring is a scam. 🤣 Question: At 9:31 where the film shows base camp and your way up on a mountainside overlooking the lake, approximately how far away from camp are you? The one thing film like this does is skew distance perception. Cannot wait for the next episode!
Beautiful video guys. Bummer on the jacket. Arc'teryx has always been a solid choice for myself. Looks like you had maybe a beta? The 3 layer gortex pro on the alpha line is great.
So the jacket is 11 years old. It was just tired and had t had so much tossed at it in a long time which is why I didn’t know it was starting to fail. I went with a Beta SV this time ❤️
Also… very few rain jackets are ever going to be fully waterproof. Eventually they wet out. Check out Timmermade for a custom Dyneema rain jacket that has pit zips. It’s expensive, and it won’t breath, but it’s the last you’ll need
You good peopelr3allt need to try some of the Pinnacle Foods backpacking meals. So good! Not affiliated.
Was it your rain jacket that failed or was it a lack of maintenance/washing?
Also great video. As a hunter who dreams of going on a trip like this, it was refreshing to see it specifically from the UL backpacking perspective.
That’s awesome that they are military, and officers at that. I’m going to guess Army or Air Force. Army bias lol Because Fort Wainwright and Fort Richardson are both in Alaska.
They are in the army! They are all stationed at FT. Wainwright!
great video, not to diminish the risk of gear failures they are also "BUYING OPPORTUNITIES!!"
What do you mean by that?
@@BoundForNowhere - you need to buy a new jacket! If you don't replace gear on a regular basis like me, there is always something new and better out there to be had.
Awesome as always! DO you use your Jetboil on the camper's stove due to the heat technology ring that harnesses the heat more efficiently? LMAO on the officer comment, lol! 1 plan is no plan 2 plans are 1! You did your research, trial and error proved it's capabilities but your back up plan to stay warm, warm food, and morale was great! Next time both of you Ziploc (Draw all the air out) a pair of compressions and socks for the "Just in case". You are already on a thin line of dry and sweat so you adapted and overcame! Great music and time lapses! Always the outtakes! Keeps getting better! Catch you two on the flip!
What (approx.) elevation were you at the lake? As the float plane footage shows, the area has plenty of forest, so you must've been well above the tree line. Looks like next week you get a second date with the bore tide wave. :) Surf's up.
Love you Guys, you've become my Fav YT channel. Just incase you read this, around the 22 min mark when your beating yourself up about the gear, stop. LOL :). I can see you're getting better at Letting Go but hope you can not beat yourself up like that anymore, you're too special fir many obvious reasons. It's Ok, it's always been Ok and will always be Ok, regardless of the way it may seem on the surface at any particular moment! :) There are No "mistakes", it's all part of our growth and evolving and hopefully, ultimately transcending even evolving. I am in awe of both of your work ethic, commitment, drive, attitude, creativity, and I can go on forever, you're an inspiration to so many on prob many levels! Many, many continued blessings to you both and Thank you once again from the bottom of my Heart. This Vid as all of them, bring tears of pure Joy and Gratitude at the sheer beauty of Nature and Life in general; especially when experienced with the zest you both have. :)
Thank you for the kind words Leo! I have a tendency to be hard on myself. I'm a perfectionist and like to do/be the best I can at everything I do. The truth is, I was really scared for two of the three days we were back there. I was shivering constantly and could not warm up unless I was moving. Even when I was exhausted... I had to keep moving. But I appreciate the perspective. It's always important to be reminded that things have a tendency to work themselves out!
Great video!
Looks more like nice fly-over-country to me, but I like watching you guys enjoy it.
We like the details
wait so did you get the goat??
What brand of boots was Owen wearing. The ones with the red. Did your other party member get any hunting in? I saw the rifles. Maybe .300 Win Mag or .338??? I'm a gun nut from Idaho, what can I say.
How did they keep the goat meat from going bad in the two days between the kill and extraction?
MAKs brother here, we put it into game bags and then into these large waterproof bags made by north face. From there we buried the bag in a drift of snow which kept it cold the entire time.
MAK and Owen, I really enjoyed the video. I use Cabela's "Guide Gear" for foul, wet and severe cold (-30F)weather. I've yet to be disappointed. Cheers, Mate.
Great to know!
did you go to Thunder Valley (aka Shangri La)?
Sadly not
Sorry for the Goats life
That goat has been feeding my family ever since. The fees required to hunt it go on to fund close monitoring of these precious animals to ensure that they are around for generations to come.
how much weight in y'alls backpacks?
Our base weight for backpacking (long distance) is about 22 lbs without water
@@BoundForNowhere we are going to rim to rim to rim at grand canyon on the 25th. we have been working out with 40 lbs and have dropped to 25.
@@BoundForNowhere
How much of that is your camera gear?
Love your photos and videos. My eyes just eat it all up! 😍
Does that lake have a name? Can it be found on a map?
Disappointed that we didn't talk about how hunting is conservation. Missed a great opportunity to broaden horizons for so many that wouldn't otherwise listen to a hunter.
I wanted to, but we had so little footage of the hunt, or applicable footage. The thing is I write down ideas I want to explore in each video and often they have to get rimmed down to not be overly wordy. At that rate the issue or idea I’m wanting to dive into is less served than if I didn’t bring it up at all. That in particular is a big can of worms and are idea that I’m still trying to sort out how I personally feel about it. And I hate to say it in a video in front of thousands of people is not the place where I like to try to figure out how I’m feeling. I hope that makes sense.
@@BoundForNowhere I appreciate the response. Still love the content you create. You and owen are living 1000 lives in a single life. Keep it up!
FYI...... all your videos go straight to the big screen!
That is a lovely compliment!
Oh come on that was so boring ( just kidding ) the saying goes “ Youth is Wasted on the Young “ well that doesn’t apply to you two 🎥 👍
That is an incredible compliment, thank you for that 🥰
Sorry, I just heard that there was a shot at the mountain goat.
never would have thought you condone the killing of wild animals
They sustain my family. They only take what they need. I don't hunt, I'm ok with hunting when it is done respectfully and in a sustainable way. Which is was. I honestly feel if people had a closer connection to their food we'd have a lot less issues with our food system.
@@BoundForNowhere wow ok, sorry I am not ok with killing wild animals I love nature love seeing animals in the wild pointing a camera not a rifle
If they didn't tell us you would never know an animal was harvested. You saw nothing. One question for you. Are you ok with harvesting farm animals?
@@udx-483muddbucket5 no, I do not eat meat
@@guillermon5152 👍
dont be so fast to say everyone in the military is fast accomplished and efficient . most are not. its not like it used to be. this country is in touble. most kidsthat come out of the military are still kids its a shame really.
Do you really love this planet? Every kind of food you eat is in a plastic container. Plastic, plastic, plastic. Unbelievable.
Did you just type this on your phone /computer made of plastic and rare earth materials mined in deep strip mines? Do you really love the planet?? Unbelievable
@@ryanmarshburn2858 Can't you see the difference between owning a smartphone and many trips on the wild full of plastic? Unbelievable 🤣🤣
WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO SHARE THE HUNTING OF WILD ANIMAL FOR SPORT. DID NOT THINK YOU GUYS WOULD GO FOR A BLOOD. SAD.
It wasn’t for sport. It was to feed my brothers family. They hunt for all of their meat. They live very closely with the land and only take what they need. Alaska, and my of its residents, do that to remove themselves from the food system and have a deeper connection to where their food comes from.
@@BoundForNowhere Very weak argument. You sound so self justiified. It was for sport. Also for adventure, for fun, and for ego affirmation .
