Longtime watcher/subscriber. There are two things I've been thinking for a while and wanted to share. First, the introduction animation for this series is by far the best I've EVER seen on any youtube/television show. Second, and more importantly, I have wondered why this channel feels so different and why it's so addictive. As strange as it sounds, your videos make me nostalgic. Nostalgic for times/places I was never in. It's difficult to explain but it sure is nice.
That might be the most meaningful compliment we've gotten about this series. Thank you. I always set out to make something that makes people feel something. I truly believe that cathartic experiences is how we learn about ourselves and in turn the world and people around us. When you are open about those experiences I think it opens up a conversation and/or space for others to explore that meaning for themselves.
I also want to comment that I never get tired of the opening montage. I never skip over it. And as for the beauty of the series, it's partly where you are, partly the camera work, and partly how you tell the story.
I smiled all the way through your 'dance' on the walkway/bridge thingy! The happiness you felt was conveyed eloquently through your dancing. It made me happy to see you so happy. Adventure on...... :)
Guys you absolutely crushed it with this one. Owen with the Aurora time lapse, MAK with the dance moves, and the glacier drone footage put it over the edge!
Only one plunge into that beautiful aqua cold water? I might of plunged twice. I visited Tuktoyatuk, NWT in Canada in June 2019 and splashed around in the Arctic Ocean for about 10 minutes. Water was warm under a beautiful sunny day. Of course it was only a foot and 1/2 deep too. Enough to sit down and splash like a little kid in the bathtub. Most fun 'bath' I've taken ever.
It certainly felt like a warm up. This series makes us excited for the future because it feels like our ideas and our ability are starting to get on the same page
Guys, your videos are always top notch, your photography, and videography are always exceptional, and on this one, a rare treat indeed; the music was a real delight. I could not have enjoyed this more, thank you, very, very much.
The closest I've ever come to water as cold as that glacier plunge is swimming in a lake formed by melting glaciers and it was COLD. Lake Oeschinen was it's name, it's in Switzerland. Magical place. Actually alot of Alaskas scenery reminds me of it from this series. Yall are great dude! Gonna be sad when this series ends.
I did a similar "polar plunge" on the Annupurna circuit trek in the Himalayan mountains in Nepal but I had the luxury of a natural hot spring nearby. We were soaking in the hot spring pool adjacent to a river that was fed by glacier runoff so the river water was just above freezng. I decided to take a plunge in the riverside and a couple others went with me. The jump in is invigorating but after a short time you feel like you are starting to lose muscle control. It's a wild expereience for sure.
WOW! I bet that had something to do with the temperature swing if I had to guess, but man that is wild! Thankfully we just have the invigorating feeling and that was it!
You guys camp at such epic adventures places. If you show it on your home page camping locations it will be helpful to many others driving your subscribers list thru the roof.
Belle and I have been watching religiously. Hope we get to meet again for beer sometime, along the road. Fantastic work, guys! We really are enjoying it!
Thank you all so much for the support! We are so happy that you've both been enjoying it! And it's only a matter of time before we meet again. The road just kinda works like that! ;)
Stoked you guys found some fun trails up here! Did you get to do the Knik Glacier/Jim Creek trail? Maybe cya this summer, driving down from AK to the lower 48 late summer for some road trippin/wheeling in the truck house:). You guys should put the Descend on Bend vanlife festival on your list, it's super rad:)
1. What can I say that hasn’t been said already without beating a dead horse. 2. We need a whole video of dance sequences spanning the series. Please and thank you.
Wonderful video, as always! Can't find a credit for the music for the Dance Party. Would love to know what it is (and what Mac was actually listening to)!
You keep exceeding the last level of awesome. Your videos are my most anticipated viewing of the week. Now see why it is so exhausting for you. Thank you. Just selecting the excellent music alone must be very time consuming since you don’t use the canned music tracks that so many creators use (yuck). Simply spectacular fall footage.
Yeah the music is something that is so important to us. I (MAK) spend at least a day's worth or work per episode just looking for the music. Sometimes it takes longer than that. Now that we are at the end of the series we feel like we are running a little dry on music that we like. It will be nice to no need to look for music for a while to let some new stuff come out ;)
You two are nuts! I live in Florida and will not get in my pool unless water is 80 degrees. Like I mentioned to you before I really enjoy your channel. Been to Alaska a couple of times can’t wait for the next time. Safe travels.
What a great series, it should be picked up Netflix! Does anyone know the name of the game they were playing at 21:29? I have heard about it but can't recall the name of it to order it.
@@BoundForNowhere Thanks, Ordered! Also I was happy to hear you were at the Expo this past week with your series being highlighted there. I hope you also go to the one in the PNW in July. Cheers
Man, every episode just keeps getting better and better. Genuinely this has been one of the most enjoyable and comfortable series I’ve ever watched. Puts a smile on my face every time and reminds me of how awesome these adventures are even tho my rig is currently in pieces. I’m determined to get up to Alaska some day tho
Thank you so much. Your choice of the word "comfortable" is one that I am really flattered by. Thanks for something that as it is something we achieve to strive in our style of storytelling
I’m gonna be sad to see this series end! UA-cam suggested it to me right from the first episode, probably because it knows about my very low key obsession with Alaska. I’ve loved it so much. 😏 p.s. I see you made it to my hood, Squamish, on the way back?! I’d know that gondola view any day, haha🌲
Wife and I love you guys. Dear you are hands down the best narrator of any of the rvers/truck camper/overlanders we watch.. safe travels and keep it between the lines
Thank you so much I really enjoy the narration side of putting these videos together. It's been exciting to see my own progression and improvement over time but I still have a long way to go... but I will get there!
I have watched your whole Alaska episodes, and am so impressed! I can tell that Alaska has touched you both, and you will be back, I have been lucky to work in the Alaskan visitor industry for years up here and never take it for granted, I can see by your emotions, You realize just how special of a place Alaska is! One recommendation, you got to see Kodiak island! Unique, even for Alaskan standards!😉👍
Thanks Amanda! That is honestly my dream job. But as my Dad always says: Be so good, they can't ignore you 😏 To which I'd say we're still working on, but we'll get there
I found myself again saying what I’ve said at the end of all your Alaska adventures….oh no, it’s over already! I’m hoping there is an in-depth review coming with detailed stuff like timelines, references, and costs for the entire trip/adventure….maybe even thoughts on other sights you’d still hope to see. Thanks
I love all of those ideas! We do plan to discuss more informally about all of this in the future. But for a little bit, I think we need to take a break and recover for a beat! Thanks so much for the love!
Thanks for the reply. I fully understand a break….and being back in a more routine life (whatever that means) will certainly make the heart yearn for the next adventure.
DANG YO! What a banger of a film. Loved seeing more of the Tundra home on the move 😎🤙And travel Catan?! Also, how much portable storage do you rock on your extended trips? I feel like all those insane time lapses and shots must eat some serious terabytes after a while.
To be a bit more specific; We used a 4TB SSD for footage, 2TB SSD for time lapses, and one more 2TB SSD for photos on this trip. We carry several 5TB hard drives for archiving and then dump them every year when we visit family. It's a LOT for sure!
This is going to seem like a strange comment after all that delicious scenery (note to self, must go to Canwell Glacier road) but what game was that you two were playing in the camper?! My wife and I are always looking for a good game. Thanks for sharing...your travels and the game, of course.
Late August! All the episodes have hand written journal entries from the day it happened. We include the date so if you ever want to go back for reference

You two have sealed your spot in YT land as one of the best adventure videography channels out there (IMHO). The animation, the narration, the time lapse, the stills, the food, the PBR (!). Really. If you were wondering if your lifestyle would be sustainable, I think the sky's the limit! Cheers!
I couldn't believe your "polar plunge"! Looks awesome! I can imagine the refreshment you felt after that dip! All your experiences and adventures with such beautiful footage, I especially enjoyed your Alaskan adventure!
Just when you think it can’t get any better you up your game. The aurora with mountain view was amazing! I can only imagine what beautiful photos you didn’t have time to share. Looking forward to the next episode. Thanks.
Very nice. I've driven all of those roads, including the one up to Canwell Glacier, although not as far as you did. You've done justice to AK and to my favorite place here: McCarthy. I'm super impressed (and jealous) that you saw a bison on the McCarthy Road. Careful, this place gets in your blood.
Rusty below said it well. My family and I have lived in a National Park all of our lives, my daughter was raised in one, and it has changed and molded every bit of who we are. We currently live in a beautiful, near by city, not large but I miss the beauty, the tranquility of our former life. The animals in my yard, the full set of stars at night so close you can touch them. I have said this before but I am envious of your jobs and so amazed at your work, pictures, video everything. When you said what you did after your plunge I started to cry... I felt that and understood as I have too felt that way in front of my mountains... I do not know if you want to go bigger than your current show but Nat Geo needs to pick you all up. I was sad when it ended....
Thank you so much for the kind words. It would appear that we are very much cut from the same cloth. Once we've come to live closely with the land (in whatever way you do that, as there are many versions) it's hard to separate yourself from it. Spending time outside helps us realize that that is where we came from. We are a product of nature, and all too often act as if we live outside of it, or separate from it entirely. In nature, we are home.
Tuned in a little late for the premiere earlier, and am catching up with a re-watch now. That sequence of you dancing across the length of that bridge. 😂😂😂 Gonna have to remember to think of that when I feel crabby.
These are such high-quality productions--the photography, storytelling, narration, the wonder of discovery. You capture the quirkiness of small towns and the feelings that lifelong Alaskans like me have about remote places.
@@BoundForNowhere Have to say as a longtime Alaskan, you two really did a great job showing, “real Alaska “!!! I watched every episode, you did my home great, showed how it really is up here! I know you will be back, glad you got to see just how unique and special this place is!😉👍
I just can't believe how every single new video you produce is so much better than the last one you made. Thank you both for giving us the chance to see these places as you travel through them all. OK I have a dumb question what was the dice game you two were playing? I'm always looking for good camp games.
Every episode of this series has been jaw droppingly beautiful to watch the stunning vistas and amazing wildlife but you definitely kicked it out of the park with the time lapse of the sunset rolling over the forest and mountain then culminating with the northern lights👌❤️
So grateful to have found this series, as you guys are so great to have shared your journey and in such stunning detail. I’m both excited and sad to see the last episode coming as it has been a joy to look forward to the weekly episodes. Alaska, while not a place I live fulltime, is a place I hold dear, and your series has made me realize how much of it I still need to see. All that said I am excited to see what future projects you guys have coming.
We are thankful you found it too! Thank you so much for watching and enjoying for all of these weeks. HA I think this series has also made us realize we have so much more we want to do up in Alaska. We will make it happen some day!
That polar dip gave me chills.🥶…reminds me why I left the snow belt and never looked back.🤪😂 I wonder how often you guys get your rig tuned (knock on wood)…the locations you visited all look pretty remote.

actually, it will be more degraded
Personally I agree with you Joe. I think people would be calmer and be better stewards to the land.
I smiled all the way through your 'dance' on the walkway/bridge thingy! The happiness you felt was conveyed eloquently through your dancing. It made me happy to see you so happy. Adventure on...... :)
