This is so nostalgic for me. Beepbox was where I originally started composing music in the summer of 2016. It looks like a lot more features have been added since then though
it does, the recent (ish) 3.0 update added all kind of stuff. there's panning, new "harmonics" instruments, all kinds of presets, "spectrum" drums, you can select more than one pattern at a time (finally), there's more shortcuts, new stuff out the wazoo. it's great.
I think this is my favorite video of yours for a number of reasons. you've got the raw shady brainstream nonsense that I quote to this day (whenever I hear low cinematic drums I still think of john gun and magnum sword). the software being used is both accessible enough for a big dumbo like me to figure out but also powerful enough to allow for things to sound cool. but the biggest reason I think, and I don't mean this in a bad way, is that for most of the video, the song doesn't actually sound that good. I often tend to hyperfocus on making every part of a song sound perfect as I'm writing it, but this video serves as a reminder that it doesn't have to sound perfect in the moment, because in the video once the song is fully together, the song sounds great despite none of the individual bits sounding that great in a vaccum. reminds me that it's okay to just do things even if they don't sound great in the moment b/c they might later, and I can always change them later if I need to, but it's not going to sound like anything until it's actually a song and not just some disconnected melodies. I hope this doesn't sound like an insult because the song and it's final version are both really good and I like them. I also like this video because using beepbox after seeing you show it off is what got me to actually start writing music. also I just want to mention that beepbox is actually a surprisingly really powerful program, like the synthesizers are so cool, and you can customize every aspect of them if you enable it in the settings and you can get some really cool sounds by fiddling with the settings. also if you press shift+r it generates a random entirely new instrument. how cool is that. that's awesome. I love just pressing shift+r and finding the wackyest sounds I can and doing stuff with them. anyways after learning how to use beepbox, I've managed to make some things I'm actually proud of, one of which I uploaded to youtube and I don't know if you'll ever see this but it would absolutley make my forever if you saw it, b/c you are probably the biggest inspiration for my music. idk I feel kind of weird for saying that. this is probably the most inspiring video of yours to me (I suppose it is measurably the most inspiring, because it actually inspired me to do things). idk this video is cool. sorry for the whole essay of youtube comment. have a nice day :)
To make them continue playing over bars, you can take the left side of the second note (in the second bar) and pull it left till you see an arrow on it!
your videos have helped me find free music programs and realize that just because it’s free and sounds like crap doesn’t mean you can’t make something cool with it
Ooooh boy the segment starting at 12:35 is so good, I know you said it's an older leitmotiv but it works super well with these weird wail-y notes (and the xylophone chords in the background around 12:49 are so powerful, like I'd go to a war with these chords !!) Really really good :D
The animated balloon guy always makes me think of the sub alert on streams so I half expected shady to say "you don't gotta do the thing" or whatever the saying is. But damn this sounds great I kinda want to try to screw around on beepbox now
why do so many of shady cicada's songs sound like something out of drawn to life? not complaining though, i love that game edit: at 12:46 the xylophone part sounds like part of the boss theme in the second game
I really liked this song, it was calming yet almost nerve wreaking at the same time. I'd compare it to being in a haunted house, the place is beautiful and there is much to explore.. but you can't help but feel a chill on thr back of your neck

few tips: - you can drag up or down above notes to change velocity/volume idk which one but yes - i suggest turning on everything from preferences menu - you can change the ammount of instrument channels (6), instruments per channel (10), number of patterns (idk havent tested, probably just power of 2), and drum channels (3) - you can click on a pattern and type in the number of pattern you wanna use (useful if you have over 10 patterns lol) hopefully i didnt miss anything

[C] copies the whole pattern and [V] pastes it into another one. You could use that in 4:05. - There are very customisable 8-bit-style synths (square, sawtooth, sine, triangle, noise), which allow you to create NES- or GameBoy-like tunes.
