At that point, why not just run an entire soft armor wrap around setup? It’s gonna be way more concealable and comfortable than having plates, and if they’re not rated for rifles, it kinda doesn’t make sense to me.
Best armor around...STEEL OPS. No question. AR-600 IIIA+, ALL plates come coated with their terrific anti-spall. No screwing around with a "base coat." They are USA made and are offered in 3 different cuts. 5.56 M855 (LAP/green tip) screams out of a 20" barrel at over 3000 fps. Steel ops armor stops it from only 10 feet away. Think about that for a minute. That's end of the hallway distance. Its not that heavy or bulky either, for steel. Probably will conceal with your carrier just like your plates as you discussed. Best part is the price...$129.99. No typo. They run in batches so you just have to get online when they release a batch, no backordering. Unfortunately they released a batch this morning, 10/2. They sell out in less than 30 min. Check their site for next release dates. They do custom armor too. No I am not affiliated with them. They just make the best product out there at the price. Should be twice what they charge.
M193 is gonna vibe check any steel plate. M855 does nothing to steel plates, but m193 out of an 18-24 inch barrel will smoke through any level 3 steel plate on the market.
@@inferninx not true, i shoot green tip at inferior quality steel targets (compared to ar550 armor) and have shot it several hundred times with no penetration. your info is demonstrably false
@@johnsornberger7381 hey dummy, I actually agree with you. Did you not actually read what I posted before you started talking shit about how I was wrong, when you didn’t even correctly read or comprehend what I wrote? I stated and was talking about m193 specifically, and said it performs WAY better against hard steel plates than m855 greentip. In a way I’m agreeing with you ya dummy. Wanna know why? Because Green tip isn’t even actually armor piercing, as it only defeats level 3 and 3+ Poly plates and level 3A vests that just about ANY rifle with a velocity of over 2300fps will easily do. M193 ball on the other hand, which isn’t even advertised as armor defeating will absolutely punch a hole clean through level 3 and 3+ AR500 steel plates if its being fired out of anything with a 16-20 inch or longer barrel, while green tip shot out of the same barrel will not. There are several UA-cam videos proving and confirming this if you don’t believe me. That armor defeating capability is due entirely to the significantly higher velocity of the 55 grain m193 round vs the 62 grain m855 green tip. Advertised mean velocity of m193 is 3250 FPS out of a 16 inch barrel, while m855 is 3000 out of the same barrel. That’s a 10% difference, and the difference only increases and gets higher as barrel length increases. In fact M193 ball will hit almost 3400 FPS out of a 24 inch barrel, and will absolutely smoke a hole through a steel AR500 plate. I’ve done it before. Make sure you actually read and comprehend what someone is saying before you start spouting off at the mouth junior. You might learn something.
I dont know what to tell you but im shooting both green tip and 193 at steel on my range here. The plates are ar500, and it dings them up good but I haven't had any holes in any of these plates in the two years they've been up. Also 30-06, 5.45 7n6, 7.62 x 39, 7.62 x 51, 7.62 x 54r, 30 30, and anything else my friends have brought over. Maybe I have magic plates but they're still rocking.
Those are really nice I'll have to go check them out further. Thanks man!
You are welcome. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
Those things are legitimately the lightest and thinnest plates I’ve ever put my hands on!

Ty for review.
You are welcome.
How was buying from SierraTac? I’ve seen some mixed reviews from them
I found it to be very smooth.
Could you run side plates with this carrier?

The answer by the way is no, not without modification. I use this carrier.
These are actually rated for 5.57 armour piercing rounds as well. One of the best options out there given how minimal the weight is. Great choice.
