Thanks for this. Super informative. Finding it really hard to get one of these in stock near me at the moment but cant wait to get one. I love my hyper VSE. Hobao in my opinion is such good quality for the money.
I have had the hobao cage buggy since 2012 or 2013 cant rember but these have been available for ever in Australia. I still have it and it still rips after all these years just recently gave it a good polish and fluid change. I have considered doing a truggy converand using the GTB 2 speed but maybe a waste of money since its already a great basher.
@bustednutsrc for sure in my cage buggy it has the old skool Mac star .28 and has been going for over a decade. It's around 150 AUD for the 2 speed conversion here in Malaysia I now work we get parts direct from Taiwan. The braces alloy braces near the drive shafts are a great upgrade as I am still running the same scratched and trashed chassis there tough but just a basher not a racer like you said.
@kanenstuff Oh, that's an excellent engine. I also had one of those years ago, lasted me several years. I am going to try and get the parts to do the conversion. That might be fun!
just caught your video. not sure about adjustments on radio , but I do like the fact the trim button's are inset not exposed like the knobs on other ready to run cars. vehicle looks good.
Definitely a great truggy, Hobao really makes hood stuff. I like the buttons inset but I don't like the audible measurements, but not a big deal nevertheless.
I already broke the pull start on mines before I could even break in the engine. It took me awhile to get it started. Once I did he would try to take off full speed after about 10 seconds of idle time. I had to turn the idle screw to get it to turn off. Tried to start it again and the pull start string broke. I ordered a new one gonna take it to my local hobby shop so they can get it right for me
Oh man, sorry you had a bad experience. Mine was excellent from day 1. But if you saw my video about the hobao hyper vs2, I had nothing but issues with that one. Hobao ended up sending me a brand new engine because the one that came in the car was bad from the start. Pull start broke on pull #1, then the engine lost compression after a couple break in idle tanks. It's sad they have had such bad quality control issues. However, they didn't ask any questions and overnighted me a new engine when that happened.
Good, reliable and cheap truggy, im happy with mine. Got the .28 6 ports engine not the 30. A couple of things i dont like, the engine mount really sucks, the stock clutch shoes need to be replaced and the stock pipe is very bad. Get aluminum clutch shoes and a decent pipe and your engine will come to life. Also hobao engines are made by hobao! Good engines imo, similar quality as force (i like force engines too) but completely different design
Are the engine mounts same as the hyper 7 if so worst design ever for engine mounts, not many engines will fit in my hyper 7 which is only a basher but hard to get a another motor for it that will fit
@@TastyBRC thats actually annoying i wanted to fit the lrp 28 or 32 to the basher but no point unfortunately, what glow plugs do you guys use ive only got p3 and p4 plugs also run 25% nitro
@Nader Sedaghat Between the Losi, Kyosho and the Hobao, I think the Hobao has overall the best quality all around. The Losi is well balanced and has a decent engine but it has plastic everywhere just like the Kyosho. In my personal opinion: 1 Hobao 2 Losi 3 Kyosho

Hey! I'm glad you found this video informative. Yes, Hobao makes great products and they also have great support. One of my favorite companies!

Someone told me about the 2 speed conversion, I'd like to give it a try. They are really good cars for sure.

Hey there, thanks for the comments and advice. I ended up selling the hyper sst. But it was a nice truggy for sure, very decent quality for the money!

U can pull the the battery tray out of the controller and use a lipo i thought that was cool! Ima make mine a 2 speed!
Oh I saw the tray was removable, didn't think you could use a lipo, that's pretty cool. How's yours running so far?
Is there a 2 speed kit that will fit in?
@@craigrjrich yes sir for the hyper 7 thats why i bought it. Traded it and a lst xxl for a mtxl so no longer have it.
