I am very happy for you and your new found love. I have a few questions. Were you sending most of your money home to support kids and were family members living off of your hard work? Were you able to save money for your future. Were there any issues in the Barangay when he came to visit or did you stay away from family pressure and issues? What country were you an OFW in as countries like Saudi and others make communication so difficult unless you have a great family. Most OFWs do not.

I have been on a few Filipino dating sites. Last month I had over 130 messages wanting to know me better. After careful screening and pleasant but short conversations I narrowed the list to 3. When you get so many, you can quickly eliminate them by the ability to converse in English, looks, and age. The top of the list is not a 20 something in the provinces (must have been over 80 of them). They are nice, definitely would be fun, but at the end of the day, I want someone more emotionally mature. I was 20, I know how immature I was. I know how immature girls can be at times. Number 1 on my list is an OFW and she is 12 years younger than I. We message, we video chat, and each time we just jell together. Before considering the 20 something, remember, she wants kids. Do you want to be a father all over again when you are 65 or 70? Consider the long game. The mid 30's, 40 somethings, and 50 somethings are a better choice for the long haul. You don't need a 20 y.o. chicky to rock your boat. The mature ones with rock your entire world.

Vick's Vapor Rub for most of your bug and rodent problems. It's made from many different chemicals, and one chemical or another bugs and rodents hate and runs them off. Being oily it's also water resistant, so you can use it outside the home. Just wipe it around the base of the house and it'll keep bugs and rodents away. I would say regardless of the woman you are looking for, take it slow and talk HONESTLY, right up front, about both of your expectations and intentions, if she expects you to pay for her family's every need and you don't intend to, you are too far apart and go your separate ways before anything serious comes of it.

CAUTION: Two types of scammers I've run into were women who say they live in the US or Canada, but don't. They only need a little money to settle an estate or blah blah blah. The other type is someone who's studied here in the US and got a degree, but needs some help to get her H1a, passport renewal, etc to come to the states. It's supposedly all arranged except the paperwork. The only one who got any money out of me was the latter, as she had a letter from BDO bank showing they were holding settlement money for her 'til June. I slowly found out her docs were forged, including the MS Nursing degree from Cal State San Jose, and her Philippine PASSPORT. I sent it all to the NBI but haven't yet heard from them. Bottom line is to heed the advice "no money 'til you've met... if THEN!"
I'm planning on going to the PI in 2 1/2 years but am getting much info about where and what I want to do when I get there . Its kind of crappy having to wait that long but I know what I want and I want to hit the ground running and Prepared . Seems like getting you finances and bank accounts , card and cash , SS and pension all in order to be available is the major item . The women are secondary , they will be there so no stressing about that . I'm going to wait until some months before I actually have my Travel itinerary and location set before I get on a dating ap. I cant imagine talking to some women for a couple years out . but I want a place on a beach and I'm going to buy one of those boats with the outriggers big enough for a room and a kitchen . The problem with getting involved with a OFW is (and this happened to me) that some of them including a lady I met online had no control of her life. I arranged to meet her, went there to be grilled by her Gran and asked to support the whole family so the girl did not have to sign another OFW contract and go back to Saudi. Saying that I am going over there to see another lady I met on Facebook who was a OFW in Saudi but is now back homeand working hard.
I absolutely agree that you should not have a relationship with your maid. I never even dated girls at the office and always kept private and business strictly separated. I have a friend who married an OFW who has already built a house in the Philippines, so that's a great option. Also the widows are a great option, but you will have to match up to her deceased foreign husband. I'm not so sure about the last group. Filipinas who are already living in the USA may be too Americanized. I would be very careful dating a Filipina who lives here in Antwerp (Belgium). All in all, an interesting subject again Mike!

My sister has many Filipina nurse friends and they are westernized here in California. I don't know about Vegas, but nurses here average $80K to $100K a year. So you better make a similar wage according to my sister. If OFW maid makes around 20K to 25K peso and doesn't renew her contract to live with you in the Phil's, you better be prepared to support her family. My 32 yr old son makes $220K as a structural engineer, which is a good wage match as his Indonesian fiancé makes $155K. She's very pretty like a Filipina with dark skin. Similar wages with girls is a MUST in California.

For 3 years I have diligent getting things ready to retire this year, and I'm wondering if the glut of foreign guys moving into the Philippines and making it hard for myself to find what I'm looking for. I have invested my time since 2014 in the Philippines. I have traveled there several times. But I'm concerned that this is going to get complicated to find the girl I'm looking for. I have met so many girls in the Philippines, but I have wondered how complicated its going to be. But in my heart I love the Philippines in general.
Regarding the work of Filipinos abroad. You expressed your completely understandable view of things, but you are deeply mistaken. Reason: From your point of view they are "working hard", but it makes sense to look at their work from their point of view. Of course, they will tell you anything, but they don't work too hard. Compared to the work they are familiar with at home. In my job I have seen several hundred Filipinos work closely over several years, and I can say that they are very different. Some do good work, some do terrible work, some regularly steal from their employers, some lie constantly. I observed all this with my own eyes. Moreover, I communicated with them a lot. In any case, working abroad is a great success for them; their income is incomparably higher than at home, while their expenses are almost zero. This is what the real truth looks like.
I would caution on the overseas work visa women. Not all do this kind of work but when I was stationed in the 2nd infantry division camp Casey South Korea I was supprised there were no Korean women working in the clubs. It was all Russians and Philippines. You don’t want to marry a drinkie girl!

I've met them before in Hong Kong. Thirsty bar Ago-go dancers; free lancers on the streets, and domestic helpers hanging out of the Sunday afternoons in the DJ discoteques in the Wanchai District. Back in the 70s, Hong Kong Chinese girls worked the topless Ago-go bars. Returning in 2000, only the mama-sans were Chinese. Again in 2016, the same, only more Filipinas and very expensive.
Take Mike's golden ticket advice. Why spend your own time and money going to the PH? Let the other Expats spend their time and money on the K1/K3 visa. "You can date the Filipinas already in the US." 😀

I would say regardless of the woman you are looking for, take it slow and talk HONESTLY, right up front, about both of your expectations and intentions, if she expects you to pay for her family's every need and you don't intend to, you are too far apart and go your separate ways before anything serious comes of it.

CAUTION: Two types of scammers I've run into were women who say they live in the US or Canada, but don't. They only need a little money to settle an estate or blah blah blah. The other type is someone who's studied here in the US and got a degree, but needs some help to get her H1a, passport renewal, etc to come to the states. It's supposedly all arranged except the paperwork.
The only one who got any money out of me was the latter, as she had a letter from BDO bank showing they were holding settlement money for her 'til June. I slowly found out her docs were forged, including the MS Nursing degree from Cal State San Jose, and her Philippine PASSPORT. I sent it all to the NBI but haven't yet heard from them.
Bottom line is to heed the advice "no money 'til you've met... if THEN!"

I'm planning on going to the PI in 2 1/2 years but am getting much info about where and what I want to do when I get there . Its kind of crappy having to wait that long but I know what I want and I want to hit the ground running and Prepared . Seems like getting you finances and bank accounts , card and cash , SS and pension all in order to be available is the major item . The women are secondary , they will be there so no stressing about that . I'm going to wait until some months before I actually have my Travel itinerary and location set before I get on a dating ap. The problem with getting involved with a OFW is (and this happened to me) that some of them including a lady I met online had no control of her life. I arranged to meet her, went there to be grilled by her Gran and asked to support the whole family so the girl did not have to sign another OFW contract and go back to Saudi. Saying that I am going over there to see another lady I met on Facebook who was a OFW in Saudi but is now back homeand working hard.

I absolutely agree that you should not have a relationship with your maid. I never even dated girls at the office and always kept private and business strictly separated. I have a friend who married an OFW who has already built a house in the Philippines, so that's a great option. Also the widows are a great option, but you will have to match up to her deceased foreign husband. I'm not so sure about the last group. Filipinas who are already living in the USA may be too Americanized. I would be very careful dating a Filipina who lives here in Antwerp (Belgium). All in all, an interesting subject again Mike!

I met a woman on Filipina Cupid, and, instead of me flying to and from PI and spending a week there before relocation, I want to fly her into Cancun for a week with me in an all-inclusive. My sister has many Filipina nurse friends and they are westernized here in California. I don't know about Vegas, but nurses here average $80K to $100K a year. So you better make a similar wage according to my sister. If OFW maid makes around 20K to 25K peso and doesn't renew her contract to live with you in the Phil's, you better be prepared to support her family. My 32 yr old son makes $220K as a structural engineer, which is a good wage match as his Indonesian fiancé makes $155K. She's very pretty like a Filipina with dark skin. Similar wages with girls is a MUST in California.

Excellent video Mike, its a good reminder not to overlook the filipina population in your own back yard. Before you go look in the Province. Upon living with my filipina wife, did not realize how large a population they are here. A lot of the filipinas keep to themselves and keep their values, just have to meet the right one, just like you would in the Philippines.
The widows tend to not want to remarry, like you said they have resources, and are dedicated to caring for their family. imho

For 3 years I have diligent getting things ready to retire this year, and I'm wondering if the glut of foreign guys moving into the Philippines and making it hard for myself to find what I'm looking for. I have invested my time since 2014 in the Philippines. I have traveled there several times. But I'm concerned that this is going to get complicated to find the girl I'm looking for. I have met so many girls in the Philippines, but I have wondered how complicated its going to be. But in my heart I love the Philippines in general.

You expressed your completely understandable view of things, but you are deeply mistaken.
Reason: From your point of view they are "working hard", but it makes sense to look at their work from their point of view. Of course, they will tell you anything, but they don't work too hard. Compared to the work they are familiar with at home.
In my job I have seen several hundred Filipinos work closely over several years, and I can say that they are very different. Some do good work, some do terrible work, some regularly steal from their employers, some lie constantly. I observed all this with my own eyes. Moreover, I communicated with them a lot.
In any case, working abroad is a great success for them; their income is incomparably higher than at home, while their expenses are almost zero.

They are also found in Japan (most of the cities and towns have them in clubs/karaokes), Hong Kong, and those domestic helpers in Hong Kong and Dubai, Bahrain, etc. do have Sundays off and some free lance to subsidize their low salaries. I've met them before in Hong Kong. Thirsty bar Ago-go dancers; free lancers on the streets, and domestic helpers hanging out of the Sunday afternoons in the DJ discoteques in the Wanchai District. Back in the 70s, Hong Kong Chinese girls worked the topless Ago-go bars. Returning in 2000, only the mama-sans were Chinese. Again in 2016, the same, only more Filipinas and very expensive.
