- Hey! Sorry if I got anything wrong, or any audio issues, please tell me in the comments. If you wanna read more, here's a paper on the Express service by the MTA: drive.google.c...
I'd taken it a couple times, it wasn't all that popular. The train was maybe 25% capacity on a good day. Now they have the Air Train, I like that better myself. They just need a rail line to LaGuardia now so you don't need a bus from the 7 train.
shut up
go play roblox pta LaGuardia express there
why the “m” transit logo got removed with “MTA”?
#meinsword SPeAK
I don’t like the idea putting air train to LaGuardia maybe extend the n line to LaGuardia airport
The JFK Express was an out-of-box idea. I rode it a few times in the late 70s with relatives coming in from overseas, and the big complaint was the shuttle bus that room people from Howard Beach to the airport had weird schedules and we're usually overcrowded.
Take the train to the plane, take the train to the PLANE!!
Miss that commercial!
Classic youtube of the 2010s - I should do a video on this topic. I have quite a lot to say. When it started the Fulton express tracks were rush hour only, when the CC could cover the local stations in Brooklyn. One reason the JFK became viewed as obsolete was that system wide service upgrades were introduced which included all day C service. So the JFKs time and possible comfort advantages could well be enjoyed aboard A expresses (well every other one that is). I believe airport bound passengers arriving at Howard Beach were carried by the fare free parking shuttle buses extended to the subway station when the JFK Express was discontinued.
I have take a ride on that in 2015. Very expensive to use for New Yorkers on a daily basis.
When I lived in Inwood (Manhattan) in the 00s, I'd take the A to Howard Beach when I was going to JFK. It may have taken an hour and 10 minutes (sometimes more with delays) but it was worth just to save the money of cab fare.
The proposed LIRR branch to JFK (Program for Action) was not going to run along the Van Wyck Expressway. It would branch off the Far Rockaway Branch and run along Baisley Pond Blvd, entering the airport from the north.
Voiceover makes it sound like there's one AirTrain line connecting Howard Beach, the airport terminals, and Sutphin/Archer. There are 2 AirTrain lines--one between Howard Beach and the airport, and the other between Sutphin/Archer and the airport. Fare as of 2021 is $7.75 one way; subway fare is an additional $2.75.
The commercial showed how sucky waiting for a bus was but you still had to wait for a bus to get to airport.
I miss the JFK express 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 RIP mr JFK express
That moment when I realized that rolling stock labeled with JFK EXP markings cannot be used on other routes:
The expectation vs reality as the reality was not as expected
I drove the shuttle bus portion a few times when I was new at the TA.
You Deserve More Subscribers! I was Very Entertained And Informed About The JFK Express, I was So Confused What That Airport Symbol Ment
I wonder why most 1970s commercials look like that
I just made a commercial like that to MTA to reopen it and make it 4 stops from times square to JFK airport that’s the express route, but in the local runs the 11 stops stops. I’ll give you a hint a waste of resources is just not a resource it’s beautiful flowers
Maybe we not keep the JFK express closed it needs to be open in the 2003 and shuttle bus too even the air train
This was a great vid!! Great job!!
Rest in peace Mr. JFK Express
Great video
Just subscribed
Maybe we not keep the JFK express closed it needs to be open in the 2003 and shuttle bus too even the air train boop
The JFK express did not open in 1978 it opened in 1979
nice
The expense of running that JFK route doesn't quite make sense to me. HOW could a single train line have cost taxpayers $19,000 PER DAY back in the 1980s? I'm assuming that's on top of daily rider revenue of something like $60,000. Somebody was on the take here.
The JFK should have not been removed
Well it would make the A line worst cause the A line is kinda fucked up :/
R.I.P JFK Express
The jfk express at Roosevelt island 2:58
Can’t be. There was no subway service on Roosevelt Island back then.
2:55, thats not right
congrats on almost doubling your sub count
JFK flowers
Instead of wasting money to build a computer run air train where you don't have to pay a driver or a conductor when they should have extended the tracks off the a line and through to the airport which made better sense and money revenue for the MTA. 2.75 is all you would have to pay to go to the airport instead of that expensive useless air train.

Ah yes my father told me about it
