  • I usually drive with the bed in the bottom position. this makes it a little harder to get to things in the garage area. Being able to raise the bed while standing behind the van would be awesome. So I added a second switch...
    While this is done on the Winnebago Revel, I'm sure the same will work in all other vans using the EuroLoft bed from Lippert

    This is a good mod. I'm gonna do this on my '21 Revel bed. Thanks for sharing.

    I tried to do something similar with the awning on my 5th wheel. I wanted to add a switch outside. I bought a momentary switch for this, but all I did was blow fuses. I never figured it out. Seems like it should be simple.
    Congratulations on your project.

    Love your work Orange. Another handy mod is adding aux switch to the galley face for the water pump. Can I talk you into considering this mod and sharing it with the world?

    • @orange13
      @orange13  10 місяців тому

      thank you Jim. I made an entire new face plate for the galley switches, see here:
      ua-cam.com/video/P5dDzKQfBRo/v-deo.html
      I did not add a water pump switch, though. it would be easy enough to put one in. here is the wiring diagram for the pump: www.precisioncircuitsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/00-10027-000-Water-Pump-Control-RevE.pdf. you can add as many switches as you like, they need to be momentary switches that pull the 'switch' wire of the control module to ground.

      I've already added the pump switch to my Revels and helped maybe another dozen people or so do the same to their van in my driveway. Was hoping to make this a more common mod because it's immensely convenient. Your how-to video's are the best so my dream was talking you into covering for my (non) video skills. Can I send you a free Doordrobe set , folding table or folding counter extension? Also, the momentary switch for the pump is best on the face of the galley where it can been seen and touched from all water=need locations.

    Thank you for another helpful video. I noticed you have the same bed noise when first raising it. Seems like a common problem with the Revel's. Have you figured out what is causing it and how to fix it?

    • @orange13
      @orange13  11 місяців тому

      thanks Brian. Funny you mention the noise. It never really noticed it in real life but while editing the video and hearing it over and over, it bothered me, too. So I went out this morning and checked it out. I think it comes from where the belt takes a 90° turn, on these metal brackets on the 4 sides of the bed. there is a lot of weight on the surface where the belt touches the bracket and the belt just slides over the metal, it's not a roller or anything. I am thinking the noise we hear is caused by initially 'breaking free' belt from the bracket, overcoming the initial friction until the belt moves. Maybe it can be fixed by spraying some lubricant on the belt but I really don't want to do that, it might attract some dirt and dust, sticking to the belt over time, and might even somehow weaken the fabric of the belt. I'll just live with it....

      Thank you for the quick reply. Mine didn't make that noise until I had the van for a couple of months so not sure why it started all of a sudden. I have to take my van in for some warranty work so I may ask them. You are probably right about putting some type of lubricant on the belt attracting dirt. Mine doesn't stop making that noise until the bed has risen about a foot from the bottom.

      @@brianl9762 okay, it turned out I didn't want to live with it, with that squeaking noise 🙂 ... and I fixed it, at least in my van. see my follow-up video: ua-cam.com/video/0UrLbb3jRFc/v-deo.html

    Great mod. Did you make the wire harness or did you buy it with the switches. You don't happen to have a link for the the switches do you?

    • @orange13
      @orange13  Місяць тому

      the switches come with a socket with open end wires. I got them from Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079FKG8B1 . please note they come in different styles (color of the switch itself and color of the backlight) but also in latching and non-latching. I used a latching one for the power-on button and non-latching (momentary) for the up and down.
      as for the harness, I made it myself.

    Have you thought about replacing all of the standard paddle switches with the LED type?

    • @orange13
      @orange13  Місяць тому

      have you seen this video? ua-cam.com/video/P5dDzKQfBRo/v-deo.html
      I replaced a lot but won't change the one in the bed area for the overhead lights and garage lights. I think they work well enough, for me anyway, and since the plywood wall already has the cutout, I don't think I would gain anything by swapping them out. let me know what you think.

    Wouldn't it have been simpler to just use one dual pole rocker switch? Alot less wiiring to do.

    • @orange13
      @orange13  6 місяців тому

      like I said in the video, all it takes are 3 wires. and a rocker switch (like the one I used for testing, 7:03) will do just fine. I like the round switches a lot better than rocker switches and because I wanted to add a main switch and wanted to use the built-in backlight LED, my wiring harness uses more than 3 wires.
