Josh, which ammo do you prefer with the KIDD? I see that you shot the Eley Semi-Auto BR at these distances, but you liked the SK LR Match also, in another video. Was that because you expected the Eley to do better out farther? That is, do you think the SKs are better in close (under 200 yards) than the Eley? I was surprised that you didn't use Tenex in this KIDD test (was that because of its' SDs and ESs?). Thank you!
I prefer Eley for longer range. The tenex shoots well in the kidd but the flat nose can cause feeding issues in the semi autos. The sabr has a round nose which works better in the semi autos
It looked like you were pushing yourself to go faster on the Vudoo, noticeable to me at least. Although maybe the fact that the bolt action doesn't get put on safety you just simply leave the bolt open makes it a little quicker to start shooting. That is the biggest downfall for semi-autos in competitions is the frigging safety position sucks. I can't tell you how many times I would forget about the safety being on because as a left handed shooter its easy to put it on safe but you have to use your support hand to disengage the safety on the 10/22's
It seems like the kidd was doing more consistent groups with occasional flyers, where the vudoo was a bit more random with placement. I've put around 50k through my aftermarket barrel and it's still shooting well enough I can't justify the price of a kidd or green mountain or similar barrel
I called it a draw even before you suggested we decide. Pretty impressive for a "plinker". Just waiting for warmer weather to shoot my KIDD SG. I was surprised, but maybe not so surprised that it wasn't faster in the last test. But of course there was more going on than raw speed. I have found Eley BR Precision to be very accurate out of my Bergara, Savage TR and 10/22 Feddersen barrel. Surprisingly the Eley Force shoots extremely well out of the 10/22. Yes, I know HV ammo is not supposed to shoot well. Don't do the PRS thing. Our steel targets are at 50, 75, 100, 125, 150 and 200 yds. The 200 yd target is 4" x 5". 100 yd target is 1" x 2". Eley Contact shoots well in the Savage and 10/22. I bought a case of a good Lot # Eley BR Precision. All three of my .22s shoot 1/2 moa or better at 100 yds. OTOH wind is not your friend on our range.
Hello Josh I want to participate in some NRL22 matches and other events, but I don't know what gun to use. I'm not scared to do significant customizations (changes to the barrel, trigger, or chassis), but I don't really have a budget. I'm now debating between the CZ457, Tikka T1x, Vudoo 360, Bergara B14r, and rimX, but ultimately I just want a rifle that will be competitive in matches and be a fantastic shooter in general with a variety of ammo. Please share your opinions with me.
Id look at and talk to some gunsmiths like kenny at dpg and see what they may be able to do for you. Kind of a big list of rifles that will all perform very well in nrl22....its gonna depend on your preference if that makes sense.
@@zackdooley2919 the vudoo and rimx are the more premier rifles but that doesnt guarantee its not gonna be lot picky on ammo. Getting a custom barreled rifle is probably gonna be the least ammo picky
The vobo The Vodo but. Not by much. Actually with all things considered its a tie. Amazing for a auto at 1/4 the weight. I sometimes wonder if we are not asking to much of the 22lr
The Kid did do a little better than the Vudoo. Did not expect that. Just go to show you, semi auto is not as inaccurate as everyone leads to believe. Great video Josh.
I think the voodoo won the speed test though if it was more than two shots each time the Kidd would probably catch up. The Kidd won the accuracy test surprisingly.
@@PursuitofAccuracy Then I guess it won it all. I thought the setup and first shot was always quickest with the Voodoo so it appeared quicker. I couldn't tell which had the first impact on the second shot most of the time anyway.
If I were you I'd sell that voodoo to pay for a good chassis and better glass for that kidd... it clearly out shot the voodoo even being at a noticeable disadvantage in its current set up glass/stock so just think how much faster it would be if it were in a good balanced chassis like the voodoo was and you had some more time behind the trigger to get used to it... you said it was a second or so faster and you looked like a bear trying to ride a tricycle trying to run it in the cheesy little unbalanced plastic stock, just imagine the possibilities once it was actually set up for PRS and you were used to running it
Josh , it looks like you are running the Eley Semi Auto Benchrest in the Kidd . That stuff is amazing in my Kidd . Looks like yours is liking it too . I think you just talked me out of buying a Vudoo . By my estimation , the Kidd hung in there with the Vudoo at all distances and might have even done better here and there . Put that bad boy in a chassis and I think you have a real showdown . Although I’ve read it is hard to find a chassis that accepts the rear tang, and or the Kidd trigger … but yours doesn’t look like a Kidd trigger .
From owning both the vudoo is more consistent for sure across the board. The kidd has been really good but given the choice the vudoo still would be what I took home
@@PursuitofAccuracy The magazine feed is the weak link on the 10/22 design. If the mag is not tuned just right, the bullets can get damaged when being chambered. Only about 40% of my 10/22 mags will run flawlessly. Tony Kidd has documented this as well. The Vudoo controlled feed cannot be beat in that regard.
Too close to call and the KIDD is less expensive. Great demo, thanks. Most shooters claim the bolt guns seat the bullet better and give more accuracy, this performance contradicts that assessment.
The bolt guns dont seal better or worse as both can have match chambers. But the kidd does use some of the pressure to run the bolt which may make it less consistent with its sd's. The bolts do hold an advatage there though obviously the kidd is very consistent
Looks like when it’s all said and done, the better shooter would be the determining factor if two competitors shot these rifles in a match. We all like to have nice gear, but when it comes to the distances and target sizes involved in the centerfire or rimfire precision rifle games, shooter skill is the most important factor.
That was fun! 1. You shot the Kidd at a faster pace (I do too when i shoot mine)..I think that contributed to the SLIGHTLY larger groups for the Kidd. 2. For the cost of the Voodoo it didn't shoot THAT much better than the KIDD especially when accounting or the weight of the Voodoo. 3. Tenex (ostensibly) is better than SABR - though I think SABR is under-rated. My two cents...adjusting for multilpe factors....the KIDD won.. That said...semi auto...you will shoot faster and burn more ammo
If I heard that correctly, they Kidd was shooting inferior ammo compared to the vudoo, I give the win to the kidd. That eley semi auto may say competition, but its nothing compared to tennex, I may have head it wrong though. But if so, that kidd needs to be taken and lot tested with some tennex
Not necessarily inferior. Its a round nose projectile based off of the tenex round made for semi autos. In this case the benchrest actually had better sd's in the kidd then that lot of tenex in my vudoo so the results line up with that
@@PursuitofAccuracy you should be able to hang an MDT chassis weight into the MLOK slots at the front of the stock. Better if you can fab up a longer hunk of steel. My friend runs this stock and with ballast, works great. We also put an ARCA rail on the bottom and extend it out the front. Again, you can bolt weight to the rail in front of the stock. you will really enjoy double tapping your targets vs running a bolt. Great shooting and love your vids......
@@PursuitofAccuracy we pull our 10/22s out of the stocks all the time for cleaning. If the bedding is done properly, you can remove as often as you like.
At the end of the day , the vudoo is going to be more consistent because us a bolt action, over semi auto, that's the facts like it or not. Run a 1000 rounds through each of these and you will see. I'm not saying the semi autos are bad is just the function of the actions. Also the stock configurations for the 1022 is very lacking for a prs type of gun. Look at the top nrl 22 and prs 22 matches and the vudoo overwhelming have more guns on the line than anyone else
The a5 would definitely be a improvement over a standard 1022 stock. But compared to a chassis which is very tunable for weight balance, adjustable lop, and cheek height. While your McMillan probably has adjustable cheek, adding wieghts for is much harder on a traditional stock. Plus with a vudoo any rem 700 chassis will bolt on, very easy to acquire
Lol, I’m not a precision guy, but a can guarantee you he has put more than 1000 rounds through these to guns. He’s spent way more time shooting the vudoo and developing its accuracy. This test does not bare out your claims. Not saying it’s not true, but bolt guys will go down with the ship regardless. Obviously, this test confirms that semi autos have progress quite a lot. Add some weight to the Kidd and who knows.
Kidd had tighter group at 400 yards. Was really to close to call on video at 300 and 200 too. Can’t see from this video why you pay 3x as much for the vudoo. Couldn’t tell about the speed shooting but you really seemed rushed with the vudoo compared to shooting the Kidd. Lol, doesn’t really matter what the results would be, precision guys are going to go down with bolt action no matter what.
Videos are unfortunately a sample size of one. I own both the kidd and vudoo etc. The bolt gun is consistently more accurate. Are there days the kidd outperforms the others.....sure and thats captured on video here. But the norm is the bolt guns outperform the semi auto. Both are extremely capable of winning high level matches for sure. Its gonna come down to preference
I can see your point, however… maybe if you need another video suggestion. Do the same test again and see if you get different results. Isn’t that how to do it? You have a ton more time on the vudoo, more familiarity, used better ammo, and have better glass (know you said you dialed down the vudoo glass but x20 on a 4-20 isn’t as good as 20x on 6-30). And see if the test comes out the same or if you are proven correct that it was a one off. Also, I seemed to have missed your ammo shootout. I got through to part 14, but never got to see the top 4 shoot off. Did you ever do it? And this is may be stupid, but do you get credit for me watching your videos or do I have to hit like because I don’t always remember to do that. Glad to go back if that makes a difference.
@@scottluther6699 the kidd video is already in the works but its a little ways down the list. I want to make sure everything is shooting well here in nc and then repeat the test but this time with a bunch of rifles (supergrade, vudoo, rimx, b14r custom, etc) Basically a super rifle 22lr showdown. Watching gets recorded as views. If people like the video it tells youtube that people watching are enjoying thrle video and makes it more likely to be recommended to other people.
How do they say it....STUPID accurate. 400 yards! I've watched other vids, the guy gave up at 400, "rimfires can't hit that far out". Wrong, you just have to spend 3 grand on a rifle and 2 grand to test ammo. :) Good shooting anyway.
Precision shooting is not as precision as benchrest competition. That Kidd shot as well as the much heavier and more touted Vudoo. That doesn't happen in high level benchrest competition against benchrest rifles That Vudoo wouldn't shoot as well as most custom 10.5 lb benchrest rifles. Precision shooting should just be called long range shooting. It's really not that precision.
The patreon $$ i do get, which isnt much, is used to give back to the viewers. 50% goes back to a patron on my discord in our monthly competitions for example.
The voodoo is more accurate how ever I believe the Kidd is just a hair faster however with practice I think the kidd would beat the voodo by alot on speed.
Dont take this as an insult. I dont understand the premise of both optics needing to be exactly the same to quantify a valid test. If both optics are quality all they need to do is not change poi. In this case both are tract torics, both have the same glass. The only difference is one is a 34mm tube elr and one is a 30mm tube lr with less magnification and internal travel.

I called it a draw even before you suggested we decide. Pretty impressive for a "plinker". Just waiting for warmer weather to shoot my KIDD SG. I was surprised, but maybe not so surprised that it wasn't faster in the last test. But of course there was more going on than raw speed. I intend to use mine for NRL .22, and of course just for "plinking" at 300 yards and in. 😂
ONE WORD JOSH ... !!!!! GREAT SHOOTING ... !!!!! ABOUT EVEN ? ? ? THANK YOU FOR A GREAT VIDEO ...!!!! LOOKS LIKE THE SHOOTER DID A GREAT JOB ... !!!!!!!! DOUBLE G. HERE ...!!!!
That's two words.😁 Fantastic shooting, both rifles delivered.
Who makes the sendit level attachment???

@@samw2768 Eley Benchrest Precision.
I'm going with the KIDD!!!
For this distance 22lr, elevation spread is more important to me than width spread, wind plays a huge role in width spread.
Agreed. You cant control the wind. You can get a better ammo / barrel combo and control the sd's and get tighter vertical groups
@@PursuitofAccuracy Which rifle do you believe is the least ammo sensitive? My shooting ability is good for this, therefore I don't have any problems.
@@zackdooley2919 the vudoo and rimx are the more premier rifles but that doesnt guarantee its not gonna be lot picky on ammo.
Getting a custom barreled rifle is probably gonna be the least ammo picky
@@PursuitofAccuracy OK thanks Josh!
@@zackdooley2919 as suggested above Kenny at Desert Precision Gunworks air gauges all his barrels.
I love that a semi is as a accurate as a bolt. Throw a 25 round mag on it and that 400 yard plate is a dead duck! 🤣
Lol thats right
Good shooting Josh..my judgment and vote goes to the Vudoo.
I’m thinking get a Kidd and CZ457!
The vobo
The Vodo but. Not by much. Actually with all things considered its a tie. Amazing for a auto at 1/4 the weight. I sometimes wonder if we are not asking to much of the 22lr
Man that Kidd is phenomenal
Great shooting!
What art school taught you how to make those beautiful targets brother? 😂
I want that Kidd - wow!
Lmao
The Kid did do a little better than the Vudoo. Did not expect that. Just go to show you, semi auto is not as inaccurate as everyone leads to believe. Great video Josh.
I think the voodoo won the speed test though if it was more than two shots each time the Kidd would probably catch up. The Kidd won the accuracy test surprisingly.
Kidd won the speed by a second or so
@@PursuitofAccuracy Then I guess it won it all. I thought the setup and first shot was always quickest with the Voodoo so it appeared quicker. I couldn't tell which had the first impact on the second shot most of the time anyway.
If I were you I'd sell that voodoo to pay for a good chassis and better glass for that kidd... it clearly out shot the voodoo even being at a noticeable disadvantage in its current set up glass/stock so just think how much faster it would be if it were in a good balanced chassis like the voodoo was and you had some more time behind the trigger to get used to it... you said it was a second or so faster and you looked like a bear trying to ride a tricycle trying to run it in the cheesy little unbalanced plastic stock, just imagine the possibilities once it was actually set up for PRS and you were used to running it
one thing you didn't mention is the price difference!
the difference is not enough to make a difference, depends on the shooter, I would think.
The price difference varies quite a bit on how its set up. But there is a definite difference i agree
Honestly, the Kidd was very close to the voodoo!!
I believe it was too close to call an out right winner I was very impressed by the Kidd’s performance they are beautiful guns
Thanks!
Absolutely insane that a semi auto is hanging with a bolt action let alone a voodoo
Yeah the ole kidd is a spicey little semi auto
There actually wasn't much difference in the group sizes @ 300 and 400....
Nice video. I think the bolt gun barley won the accuracy but the Kidd hung in there pretty good.
Looks like when it’s all said and done, the better shooter would be the determining factor if two competitors shot these rifles in a match.
We all like to have nice gear, but when it comes to the distances and target sizes involved in the centerfire or rimfire precision rifle games, shooter skill is the most important factor.
No ostrich eggs?
The budget didnt allow for it this time, dont give up hope kent 😁
Coin toss 100%. But I would go with the kid personally for versatility 🤷🏽♂️
Looked even
That was fun!
I think both are great rifles
Very nice video! One comment, maybe spend a bit more time on the targets - maybe a true circle and maybe shoot at separate circles?
Yeah its on a traditional range so i cant move the steel etc so had to work with what was there
Nice shooting
Thanks
The price between the two says it all
The price gap isnt all that big 😁
Both shoots as good as the shooter are able to use them, so in Yours hands they are similar .... but Vudoo looks better so it is the winner for me :)
I like the red demon
Pursuit, How aree things?~ unusual - have a good day.
Not comparing apples to apples.
Granny smith to royal reds but still apples
Kidd’s a huckleberry.
In this case the benchrest actually had better sd's in the kidd then that lot of tenex in my vudoo so the results line up with that
Rifle for rifle, the Kidd won. You were taking your sweet time with the Kidd. Maybe a lack of experience running that rifle??
Yeah i wasnt real familiar with it so i think sub consciounsly it was making me move slower with it
Nice car...
Thanks, wife says its my mid life crisis, only cause she doesnt know how many 22lr's I have 🤣🤣
Kidd was more accurate. I have a Kidd Supergrade 20” Match and a CZ 457 that’s all modded out. Kidd is slightly more accurate at any distance.
For the money I'll take the Kidd.
Ballast up that 10/22 properly and I bet, you will easily outgun ( or you can say... outrun) the bolt rifle.
Im scared to move it out of the stock.........its shooting so good now lol
@@MysticPrecision i should have worded it better. Scared to change to a new stock in fear it wont shoot as well
@@PursuitofAccuracy just bed the barreled action properly... it will shoot just fine... maybe even better.
I agree that the bolt gun will always be more consistent. This day the kidd won but im still taking the vudoo to matches for a reason
I have a McMillan A5 stock on my 10-22. I'm wondering what your are talking about when you say the 10-22 is "very lacking" for "stock configurations".
I want to make sure everything is shooting well here in nc and then repeat the test but this time with a bunch of rifles (supergrade, vudoo, rimx, b14r custom, etc)
Basically a super rifle 22lr showdown.
Watching gets recorded as views. If people like the video it tells youtube that people watching are enjoying thrle video and makes it more likely to be recommended to other people.
Kidd
How do they say it....STUPID accurate. 400 yards! I've watched other vids, the guy gave up at 400, "rimfires can't hit that far out". Wrong, you just have to spend
3 grand on a rifle and 2 grand to test ammo. :) Good shooting anyway.
Lol thanks.
Were gonna stretch it out a tad further here soon
why is it you have such Bitchen
Lmao that was a public range……you know im to booshie for that 😂😂😂
I know the kidd comes with that ugly stock but it would be sweet to see you put her in a chassis and make her 20 lbs too
That would be killer
Precision shooting is not as precision as benchrest competition. That Kidd shot as well as the much heavier and more touted Vudoo. That doesn't happen in high level benchrest competition against benchrest rifles That Vudoo wouldn't shoot as well as most custom 10.5 lb benchrest rifles. Precision shooting should just be called long range shooting. It's really not that precision.
Either side could be argued. The real question is why does it matter what its called, its not a competition between disciplines.
The Kidd won
Vudoo........ just.
I imagine you need support via paypaland patreon. waaay too much money for the average shooter.
The patreon $$ i do get, which isnt much, is used to give back to the viewers. 50% goes back to a patron on my discord in our monthly competitions for example.
Semi won
The voodoo is more accurate how ever I believe the Kidd is just a hair faster however with practice I think the kidd would beat the voodo by alot on speed.
Nothing between them pointless exercise in my opinion without the same optics.
Poor test. Why did you bother if you weren’t going to keep the targets separated for comparison. Looks like an amateur production. Sorry. I didn’t care for the outcome. Wast of time. 😊
It was super easy to distinguish the impacts. This is not my personal range so im limited to what I can shoot.
