Soo, I bought, and still own, a 2007 Rancher 420 ES. I completely agree with everything you have said. I threatened to lemon law the machine as it was back to the dealer 7 times for the electronic shift in the 1st year. However, they finally got it fixed and hasnt been back since, for that. My transmission went 2 yrs ago, and just did an engine rebuild as it was blowing smoke like a 2 STROOOOKE! However, I love the ride. Doesnt do bumps particularly well, but is small and nimble thru the woods. Never had a huge issue with the straight axle, but ground clearance is pretty low, I was always the first to get hung up. I think 14 yrs of plowing snow may be the culprit for the transmission failure, thats a lot of shifting from 1-2-1-R and repeat...im really interested in seeing how a locker works out for you
Sounds like a nightmare.. At least you got it resolved, I wonder what they did to actually fix it. Probably packed it full of dielectric grease lol. I agree with ride quality idk why people act like it’s terrible. I’m definitely thinking about locking the front, we will just have to see how much interest the build gets.

Had a 2003 honda rancher with ES never had a single problem out of the electric shift. I put it threw everything, still running strong to this day and still no shift problems from the electric shift.
I have basically the same "boat" but a 2008 (fuel injected) with ESP. Mine works for a living (and plays here and there) and the ESP has been FLAWLESS. I think the people that have problems are banging the gears with full power upshifts or completely dumping the things in mud holes. The one thing that I LOVE about the ESP is how you can have big ass moon boots on and not have to worry about foot shifting. The 420 is surprisingly sporty and is one of the most bulletproof machines out there! You'll have a great 3 months with it, LOL! Enjoy bud! Hope you're doing well.
Thanks, I hear what you say often. That the ESP doesn’t have many problems. This is his one comment that may be exaggerated. It IS something that could have an issue but usually doesn’t.
I bought a Can Am, after owning a couple trouble free Honda Ranchers (I sold the last one because I was not riding much anymore, and then I moved and now I live on an ATV trail), any who, I decided to try a Can Am 420 5 years ago because they were 1000 less than the Honda. From the start it had an issue with almost stalling whenever the throttle was initially pushed or when it was about to be let go, and eventually it would occasionally stall. It was not a consistent problem, but happened often enough that I sold it recently because I didn't want to get left stranded. I bought the extended warranty, despite it being brand new when I bought it, and I brought it back to the dealership repeatedly to ask them to find the issue and fix it, and all they kept telling me was that they couldn't duplicate the issue and that it was just cold or had bad gas. Are you kidding? In my opinion CAN AM CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS AND IS NON EXISTENT, THEY DO NOT STAND BY THERE PRODUCT LIKE HONDA DOES! I sold the defective ATV (fully disclosed that to the buyer) and had to take at least 500 off because of the issue that CAN AM REFUSED TO FIX!! NEVER AGAIN will I buy any CAN AM products!!! Planning on buying a new ATV in spring and it will be a Honda this time!

You are correct! Some of the vent lines would be under though.
Still running my 2012 4x4 rancher foot shift
I have a 98 Honda 300 4x4 and a 2020 CanAm 850 and i can tell you that the Honda sits all of the time now!! Honda is reliable because they make NO power and therefore cant break too much. CanAm is fine as long as you do the maintenance. Facts
Can am sucks!
@@jessepoorman2621 not true!! If you do the maintenance and not sit in a mud pit all day, they are reliable. Every manufacturer has issues
I was trying to buy that atv and was in the middle of talking to the person on Facebook when they said it was sold haha
That’s crazy haha! Small world, needless to say it was worth the 10 hour trip lol.
My nephew has that same model and color. Fun little quads.
The reason nobody wants to sell them because theyre that good.
I grew up riding Honda's. An 86 big red, 93 foreman 300 and a 98 Recon. When I saw all these guys with their polarises and can and I was thinking what is wrong with these people. My next four wheeler is hopefully gonna be this here, been wanting a rancher since they came out with the 350s.
Whats your take on wearing a helment for riding the atv around the yard? Im debating if I should buy one for my new atv that ill only ride in my 1 acre yard.
Quad God strikes again!!!
Put a torx locker in the front diff they are very good
Pulling in the front break works wonders ! I think putting a locker in the diff would be a ruff ride being locked in the front all the time.
Hey Tanner, answer this question for me and I'll subscribe!
Did your Honda Rancher 420 have a backup start like pull cord or kick start?
Braydon price has proved you can’t kill a can am
Hey I’m new to your channel but I love your videos, I’m buying a 2015 Honda 420 fourtrax but the plastics are just wrecked on it, I was wondering if you knew anywhere that I could get a new set delivered to me. Can’t seem to find what I need anywhere
Okay I need help I’m thinking about getting one is that the one that costs 5499? Or no
Please make a street legal quad like the one you drove awhile ago
Get the torn ACL repaired. I put mine off and ended up shredding my meniscus as a result. After getting it repaired my only regret was not doing it sooner.
I would have done it the moment I found out if I could have. They did have to clean up my meniscus but it’s done now and I’m on the road to recovery once again.
@@AdventureDaily good deal! Glad to here it. I know what it's like trying to do things you've always done and not being able to trust your knee to stay in place.
It sucks!
Gear reduction and 28" outlaws 1s
Extreme snorkel and highlighter rad relocate
Do skinnys tho won't rob power as bad haha
I really wanted to stay away from doing a gear reduction but I’ll watch some videos. I was thinking 27” fronts on the rear as well (8” wide) and I wouldn’t have to reduct.
@@AdventureDaily that would work aswell can't wait for videos sold my honda for a 2021 polaris sportsman 1000xp lol
You talk about can ams like they’re terrible now. Are they really that bad? Would it be bad for someone that’s only riding on trails and using it for work stuff? I’m not gonna put it under any water or anything so I’m not worried about snorkeling it
I disagree with what he said about the Electric shift but all in all that is a nice wheeler.
I have read about a dozen people disagreeing with him on electronic shift and not one yet where someone says they had it fail.
is the atv actually worthy the money im thinking about buying one
I was right 💪 rancher
Any bets on how many videos pass until the "sold the honda" video gets posted? I say maybe 6
😂😅
I’m betting it makes it one month tops.
By the summer is my guess.
weird seeing towns you live near in youtube videos lol
That's awesome!
Yooo this is awesome Honda’s are the best great video and I was wondering how much you paid for it?
Thank you! Take a guess haha! All I gotta say is it was worth the 10 hour trip.
used prices around here got crazy again - oh well
as for the ES? dealers tell me they are trouble free.
many others said the same.
Ive looked at a few used bikes with ES and. . .
one had no reverse? and shift was hit and miss. a 2016 with around 2k miles owned/operated by an older rancher guy. a work machine, But. .
he started having troubles with the ES after ten years or so. [kept inside the shop or the barn] oh well
another with ES was a rincon - it looked good, but ES was miss shifting a 2011 with close to 3k miles oh well
another with ES the seller told me it was acting up the last few years. oh well
got so I walk away if it has ES.
dealers still tell me they havnt had any in their shop for that repair. - I smile & think - oh well
J-roc keepin it rizzil nom sayin?
Got a can-am ad on this vid 😂
Lmao
Nice choice getting rid of can crap for Honda
How much should i pay for a 2014 rancher 420?
$4k if it’s in good condition.
Back to Honda cmon buddy smart move this will go on and on and on
I have one. It is the same thing as yours.
Come on
Put a locker on it I would like to see how that works so I can put one on my rancher
