Hi Lesley, yes officially melted this week! At 2pm yesterday it was 29.8° in our living room, windows, door open, two fans working overtime, when one of our sons rang and mentioned the three letters, BBQ.
Off we went like kids in their first car, windows down and music on! It was such fun after being so hot.
Lovely yarn purchases and the Shhhhhh yarn is gorgeous! I wonder what it wants to become?
So special meeting up with fibre friends. Yes my husband watches you too.
Glad to here Dad is getting around.
Take care this week, meant to be wet for us here in Lancashire. xxJane 🐑🌈
Hi Jane. So hot - glad the bbq was fun!
Enjoy the rain - we are due some here on Tues, I think.
Cheers and take care xx
Thanks, Lesley! Another great podcast. Lovely yarn himself brought you. Take care.💜🧶
Thanks so much, Mary. Hope all is well with you xx
Wow! Going into grocery store with cash and having enough left over to give a donation to a gent outside!! How wonderful. I am so excited that your Dad is doing well.that trip must be a long one each time, especially because you can’t use the time for knitting…. Thanks for sharing the great yarn.
Hi Susan. I shopped very carefully and only essentials!
Thanks so much - hope things are going well for you xx
💙💙💙
👋😍🙏
Glad your dad is doing well!!
Other than the transportation glitches, it sounds like a fun visit !! And lovely yarns!
Thanks - it was a good day. Xx
Great as always catching up. Looks like you had a great day. Love the pastel blue/teal yarn - gorgeous! Have a good week. xx
Hi Louise. It was a good day, thanks. Teal is one of those colours that I am always drawn to...
Hope you and yours are doing ok xx
Hi Lesley. Glad you've had a great week. Lovely yarn souvenirs to remind you of a special day.
Hope your dad's doing well and settling in at home. Andy's dad is improving daily. We've been told off for fussing, too much.
Enjoy the weekend, take care. X
Hi Angela.
When they start telling you off, that's a very good sign!
Fingers crossed for continued improvement. These Dads, eh? What a worry they can be.
Hope you are both keeping well xx
What a lovely visit. Thinking of you and your Dad. Hope you have the best week. It is easy to forget how fortunate we are.
Thanks so much. It was great to havd such a lovely visit and day out.
Hope all is well with you xx
Love your hand spun mitt! good to see you!
Thanks so much - take care xx
Leslie it sounds like you had a lovely day out with Joelle & Mo despite the slow start on the way up. And your hand spun yarn looks beautiful in the mittens :-)
Thanks Muireann, it was a good day. Hope all is well with you xx
I have ripped out everything I knit on that day my gauge was very loose and I didn’t like it at all so I’ve started over. Glad we got to meet
Hi Joel - sorry you ripped out your knitting. It was such a lovely time with you and Merwood. Hope the rest of your trip is going well and thanks for giving some of your vacation time to meet xx
Sounds like a great day you had , love the colours of your spinning yarn making your mittens , and yes I go round the supermarket adding up as I go , and it’s frightening how much the prices are going up including the cat food , gone up a pound in a week , wow ! You truly have increased your yarn stash , lol 😂 great to see you have a great week xxx
Hi George. It is scary how things have increased. I find myself thinking "well, I'm not paying that for..." and choosing something else instead.
Thanks so much and hope you are well xx
Beautiful yarn
Thanks - there was a great choice xx
Lesley, thanks for explaining the difference between a purse and a handbag. I call the things a wallet and a pocketbook. I laughed outloud when you were talking about food budgeting and you turned to Heidi and said, "Yes, that includes dog food." Love your podcast.
Thanks Sandy. I get confused with all the different terms , so I figured I would use all of them!
Thanks and take care xx
Glad your dad is doing well. …so happy your yarn friend from Ohio got to meet up with you! I’m sure it made her trip extra special!
Thanks so much Lucy.
She had planned her trip to meet up with a couple of podcasters, so I was very grateful that she gave some of her vacation time to meeting me xx Thanks and take care xx
Wish I had a yarn enabler...................... 🙃
Be careful what you wish for - I also need a storage enabler!
Take good care xx
I'm visiting my family in Canada and completed 3 projects that I had started: 2 adult hats, and child's mitts. It was a 1300 miles trip one way. Glad your dad us closer to you.
Hiya. Good work on the projects- hope you had a good visit with the family xx Thanks and take care xx
Thanks Lesley, a lovely video. It looked a great day with Joel . I love all your beautiful yarn. I’m interested to know what you will make with the beautiful colourful yarn himself brought home. I really love that yarn. Take care, so pleased to hear your Dad is doing well. Julie Tasmania Australia ❤❤
Hi Julie. I am thinking of an adaptation of an existing pattern with the fluffy yarn - turning a top into a cardigan. I need to do some maths, but is should be straightforward.
Thanks so much. Hope all is well with you xx
Love the colours of the James C Brett. Glad your dad's doing well. Heidi will be happy with treats.
It is too hot to crochet, definitely with Aran, and I am sweating while I work with DK. Mind you, I am attempting to work a DROPs crochet pattern which is always bewildering. And this one doesn't even have charts! I am trying to decipher whether the designer wants me to start increasing on the wrong side or not, which doesn't feel right. Lovely patterns but it's not a DROPs one if it doesn't leave you scratching your head lol.
Much love and hope you're keeping cool.
Hiya. You are so right about Drops pattern. I reckon that if you successfully complete ten without a hitch, someone offers you a job as a code breaker!
Bon chance, mon ami!
Thanks and take care xx
Apparently you are my directionally challenged twin 😁! Sadly, I can even get turned around in a shopping mall and I dread being asked for directions. Love all of the yarn you bought and I’ll be sure to book your stay with your dad should I be lucky enough to travel to the UK. All the best
Thanks so much. The frightening thing is, my sense of direction isn't too bad (hence I asked the driver - I felt we were going wrong). It's my ability to read signs that disappears! 🤷🏻♀️
As long as we can always find the way to the yarn shop...
Thanks for taking us along. Glad to hear your Dad is doing well. I’m in Ohio and I’m sure I have seen her shop, either in person or at a festival. Take care of yourself. The very warm weather left us a day ago, so relief is on its way!
Hi Marilyn. Joel has had the shop for about six months - hope you get the chance to visit. Glad to hear that cooler weather is on the way - hope all is comfortable with you xx Thanks and all the best xx
It definitely was blinking hot in your neck of the woods on Thursday. Always look forward to a day out along the South Coast - a bit of knitting on the beach. No way. We hadn't brought the swimming cozzies or a beach umbrella. Doh. We had to head home early.
Hiya. Sorry you had to cut your day short. Hope you are doing ok xx

Sorry if I sounded peevish - lots of worse things in the world. Thank you for asking - yes I'm fine. Always enjoy your podcasts .Glad you had a good day in London at the wool shops.
Well said, you are lucky, have watched the homeless vids and high rise family lives ... tough times for many. You are a caring lady.
That's very kind. There are tough times around. Thanks and keep well xx
So interesting to hear about your travel adventures. I've never lived anywhere with decent public ground transportation; I would be completely at a loss without my own wheels.
Hiya - for my work, I would be exactly the same - but for London (or any big city), I like to use public transport - usually cheaper and certainly easier. Thanks so much and take care xx
Agreed. Much of my last trip to San Francisco with a car was spent searching for parking, at any price. Twice as many vehicles as spaces, I'd really need a local guide to explain how to use public trans!
Lovely to have a nice long chat, and pretty yarns to boot! I’m quite taken with the look of those James Brett yarns Himself got you- I wonder if they would be good for toddler knits? Next time I’m at the yarn shop in Galway I’ll look for them, seems like something they’d carry. (Notice the yarn shopping excuse- my wee nieces might need something knitted- not that I’d like to get some more colourful yarn 😂)
Hi Susan. I notice the sacrifice that you are prepared to make - forcing yourself into a yarn shop for your nieces. I hope they appreciate it. 😉
Thanks and take care xx
Hi Leslie, haven’t seen a good Car-beque since I’ve left the states! Brought back fond memories…..fun podcast. If any help, we have had a few cooler days here in the mid-atlantic. Maybe heading your way?
Hiya. I think we've a few more days of this, and then we'll get back to Knitting Season or, as it's more usually known, Autumn. Thanks and take care xx
So you are a rather poor tour guide.. good to know 😄 Back when life was always frantic I had money tucked in places in the car which made my kids think car was magical. Also kept me from crying when finances were super tight or ran out of checks. You looked half melted at the end!! Here is cool, gray and damp. Tree frogs have gone quiet and cicadas are clinging to things and dying, a few trees have red tipped leaves and the raspberries are doing well. Groundhog is fat and sassy. All still ticking on but glad to listen to you
The joke is that I was actually a volunteer tour guide for a while! But covering a small, local area.
That's a great idea, the "magic car".
Enjoy the autumn - the colours are great xx
You haven't had much luck with motorways lately 😕 And yes, sat navs and gauge swatches both lie. My dogs both looked at the TV when you rattled the bag 🤣
Sorry to tease your dogs!
It's the same motorway - the dreaded M25 - the circular around London - it's horrible wherever you're on it!
Hope you are doing well - when are you launching your podcast? xx
@@NotQuiteEnoughYarn Still working on it. Life, ya know 🤦♀️ Going out to video more segments on the ranch on Sunday. Had to learn how to work all the fancy gadgets on the camera too.
How lovely to meet up with a viewer! Are you planning to get to us all eventually🤣🤣 Seriously, glad you had a good day in spite of motorway delays and wrong buses! Your new yarns are beautiful and nice to treat ourselves sometimes! Hope Miss Heidi enjoyed her treats- that was very kind of the lady to remember her! Hope your Dad continues to keep well x
Well Heather, if I ever get to your island, I will be getting in touch to see if you fancy a cuppa! Hope you are going along well. Thanks and take care xx
@@NotQuiteEnoughYarn that would be amazing. Husband and myself recently met up in Douglas with an ex neighbour of ours that we hadn’t seen for 28 years! She came over on a coach trip with a friend and we spent a lovely afternoon drinking tea and catching up! Her sons (who I used to sneak a cheeky bar of chocolate to) are now in their thirties! You never know ! Take care x
I'd love to know the name of the Oklahoma yarn company. I live in Texas...just south of Oklahoma, and would love to visit them!
Hi Traci. The yarn is by Twisted Ambition - I don't know if they are online only, or if they have a brick and mortar shop.
Thanks and all the best xx
