The point of for the lotion to hydrate you skin and leave it kind of oily so the fragrance does its magic and last longer without absorbing onto your skin. Spraying the lotion before hand isn’t going to intensify anything.
Moisturizers, such as unscented body lotion and unscented bath moisturizer, will help hydrate the skin and give the fragrance more longevity and better performance. Drinking enough water on a daily basis as part of your routine will also keep your skin hydrated as well.

I usually spray twice on both sides of neck, back of neck, then the chest, lastly the wrist. This is 5 sprays and it works perfect for me.
I typically do 6 to 12 sprays unless im with other people in a car, in which case i just do 2 to 4 sprays
