  • A quick unboxing of the multiband Radtel RT-470X HT.
    It boasts an impressive spec resume, but does it live up to it?

    I received mine a few days ago I bought the desk charge separately for about £3, both despatched together. It is a nice well built solid radio with a decent battery life and a good display, on the Radtel homepage support there was a firmware update which was easy to do using the standard Baofeng cable. The radio it's self is very easy to use and works well on all bands TX and air band RX is very clear. For the money this is a good radio a step up maybe from the UV5 (8) but limited as there are no custom firmwares

      I still need to play around on the air bands, but in regards to the rest of the functions it seems like a solid radio!
      Didn't get the charging cradle yet, but I do like the universal USB-C charger. Makes it great to charge in an off-grid, bug out scenario.
      Currently listening to a net while in the workshop.
      I appreciate the input and feedback!

      I just bought one the other week for £8 delivered through Temu. Been playing about with a lot and bought the cable and a couple of abbree antennas. Thanks for the heads up about the firmware. Mine is on V2.12A and I have seen I can update it to expand the air band so I will check that out.

      @@AcidOllie Does this radio have a microphone? Can you talk to it?

    The speaker / mic connector style is called a Kenwood connector. Since Kenwood started that 213 years ago!

    I have this radio and still working on getting my ham license for my first time and was wondering if you might suggest anything to help me understand a little more about the radio

      Congrats on working your way to your ham license! I would definitely scope out other videos regarding this radio on how to use it and its capabilities. You most certainly can buy one and listen ONLY while you are working on your license. I had my first HT about two months before I first got my ham license so that I could listen in and learn the lingo, etiquette, etc.
      Best of luck to you!

      It definitely feels more solid than some of the cheaper handhelds I have.

    Can the RT -470x be programmed with the Tidradio programmer?

    • @NukaVaultReadiness
      @NukaVaultReadiness  7 місяців тому +2

      From what I can tell, Radtel has their own software for programming that you can download directly from their website.
      It is also possible it may be CHIRP compatible.

    Does it work with chirp? And does it take the same mic/earpiece as the baofeng and quansheng?

    • @NukaVaultReadiness
      @NukaVaultReadiness  6 місяців тому +1

      It does work with CHIRP! You have to use the Rt-470X model during the menu selection. Yes, it takes the Kenwood style mic/earpiece connection (same as Baofengs).
      Hope that helps!
