Yes although if one of his things was in the other place from where they were in this video I could never figure it out until later because it took me a long time to find the hallway when I got through the doors of knowledge because in this case you don't need to go down the hallway in fact you don't even need to go through the mines because they asked what color the flowers were.
literally makes me sad but happy at the same time because if it weren’t for my older siblings giving me all of these early 2000’s memories i probably wouldn’t have even known this game since i’m young
I loved this game as a kid, I forgot how much i use to game on pc when i was little. I need to get this, i never finished it, and i swear this game is trippy as hell.
This was the first game I ever beat. This was the game that started a 15 year life of gaming. This was the game that would later evolve into call of duty, battlefield, fallout, elder scrolls. This is the game that would later allow me to make countless memories with random people I never would have met. This... Is the game that started it all. This is pajama Sam.
Played this when I was 8. I'm 23 now and the memory of this game popped into my head randomly tonight. Looked it up and holy shit. This game was so much different to me at 8 than it is at 23. We perceive things so differently as we age.
The programming language gag for computer science cracked me up, seems they put a decent amount of adult humor in it to not be a total drag to parents.
29:30 "Interests include Skydiving, channeling ancient spirits, and stamp collecting" Sam: "I don't collect stamps. You're making that up." Skydiving and ancient spirits appear to be canon
😁The pure adventure that these games offered me as a child is something that resides in me to this day. They had deep, creative storylines, memorable characters, and all taught us valuable lessons as a kid whether we knew it or not. This is more than just a video game. It's an experience.
Life was so much easier as a child. No homework, no getting pressured into getting a job, no bills to pay. Just fun fun fun games to play and rot your mind
***** 1) its hilarious 2) it was made around a time where edutainment games were all kids could play and (me included) had to trick their parents into buying it because it was educational. Hehehe way to go Humongous.
This feels wrong without an A.I voice yelling the most unusual phrases in the English language while a grown ass man tries to get it on the right track.
I'm so glad I was able to watch someone play this. This game was a huge part of my childhood and I used to pretend I was Sam and reenact the game. I'd grab my mom's big flashlight, wear my favorite blanket as a cape, and have my scooby doo lunch box and then go inside my closet, run downstairs, and pretend I had fallen into the land of darkness
I’m a 26 year old father and this whole video just gave me the biggest nostalgia trip of my childhood I think I’ve ever had. Thank you. Truly a treat the whole way though and I think I’ll have my son play this if it’s possible.
This was the very first game I worked on when I got hired as a background artist at Humongous Entertainment in April of 1996. I did all the cut-scene backgrounds for PJ1. The very first background I drew on my very first day can be seen 6:31. Started simple. I also liked to sneak in hidden Star Wars references. Look in the top left corner of the screen at 43:40 and you'll see what is supposed to be the Death Star in the sky.
I feel sad. I feel like I'm the only one that's still into these games for all these years...😞 I refuse to stop playing this. I want more kids to play games like these. Yet hardly anyone I know knows about these games...Me sad...
If it helps, Humongous Entertainment games are among the ones I'm gonna introduce to my kids in the future. Plus JumpStart, Reader Rabbit, Cluefinders, etc.
This is pulling out some of the first memories I’ve ever had, watching my brother play this and trying it on my own. Makes my stomach jump everytime something looks so vaguely familiar or when I recognize a sound.
Played this game as a child and loved it. I just bought it on steam for my 7 year old's first video game. I love the nostalgia watching her experience the same magical game I did as a child.
This game is on Steam?! I need it for nostalgic purposes. I only ever got to play the demo version on the putt putt saves the zoo cd rom. I'd love to see the full game as an adult
It's a great ending when Sam finds out Darkness is a nice guy after the whole game of thinking he was evil and full of anger he realized he was friendly.
I was born in 1992, and Freddi Fish was the first Humongous Entertainment character that I grew up with. In fact, after almost two decades, I still have a working CD-ROM copy of this game shown in this video, which is the rare 1999 version reprinted in 2000!
You know, I always loved those hidden fun thinggies you could click around the area you were in...they're so random and fun. Especially the ones you could interact with each other. Like...I remember one in Freddi Fish, you clicked on coral it it threw a berry-like thing, then clicked a plant close to it and it would grab the berry (if you clicked it in time), it would crunch the berry and explode into firework. or just yeah...spam click everything around you so the whole screen goes wild. x)
Pajama Sam is my favorite Humongous Entertainment series, and also the reason why I got into the superhero genre, I still play this game and the other HE games from time to time on my computer though I never made past level 50 on the nuggets game (It is possible to play HE games on newer coms, just search Legoking's channel for a vid to config HE games for newer platforms)
I like how whenever you take a moment to explore the area, Sam either taps his foot or looks at you knowingly as if to say "I know you're having fun, but we gotta get moving". XD Actually, it can give you a 'Wreck-It-Ralph' sort of vibe which is really cool. :)
Surprising how you can go through your whole life without remembering this game, but once you find it again you have a wave of nostalgia on the highest setting. Just one thing: HIPPIE CARROT!
The most incredible part is seeing that you can beat the game in under an hour. I used to play this for hours as a kid because I couldn’t figure it out lol
I just realized: the entrance mat Pajama Sam wipes his feet on in Dark Ness's house is dark colored but has a smiley face...and so foreshadows Dark's true nature: scary-looking but friendly!
I love pretty much all the Humongous Entertainment games, but Pajama Sam and Spy Fox are my favorites. Pajama Sam because it really captures the feeling of being a kid (with his adventures relating to childhood problems like fear of the dark I mean). Plus the lands he visits are really neat, I wish I could go to those places. And Spy Fox because it's just so darn cool! Plus the puns are hilarious. XD I wish I could visit them and befriend them, and Freddi Fish and Luther and Putt-Putt and Pep too. But I guess the closest I'll ever get is being lucky enough to meet their voice actors. Hope I am that lucky someday.
All this time I have been referencing “This is it, this is the big one” in Pajama Sam’s voice not remembering what it was from til today. The boat, minecar and the “Rox” helped bring it all back 😆
That scene where Pajama Sam dances only for the furniture to ignore him should become a meme. Maybe the caption could be 'When You're Surrounded By Party Poopers'. XD
When we thought hiding under our blankets could protect us from anything at night... This game was so fun when I was 4, I'm 15 now and I look back at this stuff.
So much animation went into this, the Putt-Putt and the Freddy the Fish series - on every screen there's a bunch of stuff you can click that's animated and not even necessary to progress with the plot...
Just finished playing through it for the first time instead of watching my sister play it when I was younger! It was so nostalgic to play it through :))
