I carry an Old Hickory butcher knife all the time and was thinking this would be an upgrade, but I think for chopping I should have a hatchet or axe. Hmmm.....

@@jeffersoncarlisle3125 yeah I agree. I am not one to use a knife for other than its intended purpose. Like battoning and such. That's definitely what hatchets are for. Lol If I have to baton with a knife I would consider myself ill prepared. 😁

@@Katana-Karl I do like the Old Hickory butcher knife with the 7 inch blade and that it fits in a K-Bar sheath, as many know. I carry mine all the time in the side leg tool pocket of my Carhart overalls, which is pretty much the only "pants" I ever wear. The knife is at the perfect location with this method of carry. I was thinking I'd try this Bushmaster Bowie, but I'm going to stick with the Old Hickory! Thanks for the reply. I'm a fan of yours.

Glad to know the edge help up on the Bushmaster ,but it's is a thin stock it own Carbon Steel SZCO and I'm like that other SZCO 420hc and the Bushmaster not bad for what I would use it for ,but it's obviously not a Bush Craft grade blade especially if you going to be chopping batoning wood.

The szco is a couple inches longer which may be adds weight, I don't know maybe that and grind difference

With a hollow grind it's probably meant more as a fighting knife than a chopper.
