- From your autumn suggestions of 2018, here's our first 2019 cover - Simon & Garfunkel's "America". As usual, recorded and filmed on location in Massachusetts and Scotland, because if we lived next door to each other, these things wouldn't be half as much fun. ;)

I remember one of my teachers playing this song to the class in the early 70s during a lesson on American History. I'm from the UK, but the point my teacher was trying to make was how this song reflected Paul Simon's sense that his country was going in the wrong direction at that time. I was fortunate enough to see Paul on his last UK tour, and this was one of the handful of S&G songs he played. I think this is a classic, which is probably an over used phrase, but you guys nailed it. Thank you.
Thanks so much! Yes, it definitely has that vibe about it. One of us is in the UK and the other in the US, so we came at it from both sides of the pond - outsider's and insider's perspectives.

Many times I've translated 'America' for friends in Brazil, but this video is much better because it stages the song. Excelent idea!

The male singer threw me a little. At first, I heard a similarity to Paul Simon, then a little later, a similarity to Art Garfunkle (Garfunkel?)...I don't recall which is correct right now.

This song begs for a video like this. Thanks. And great idea. But she's wearing a wedding ring, and that doesn't work for me. 2) He would have "thought" he's aching and empty... not "said" it. 3) the moon would have been far off in the distance, 4) would have been really cool to see the actual NJ Tpk outside the bus windows, NYC off in the distance, Newark to the left. 5) if you want to do it again, should be easy to rent a bus and find people to be on it. I'll help pay for it. :)

I didn't know how this would play out, because acting out the story of a song can come across cheesy, but both the singing and acting is done very well. It does this iconic song well.
We have occasionally been guilty of cheesiness, but always try to hit the vibe of the song as best we can if we're acting a lyric out. Glad you like it, and thanks for the kind words! :)
