Another neat thing is to sand it very slightly, collect the fine saw dust and then fill the cracks with glue, put the sawdust on the glue. Looks like there wasnt even a crack :)
Yes that’s another good way. However this is store bought painted mdf so sawdust wouldn’t match and sanding it is basically impossible. So this is to show another way without sanding
While I have used regular superglue to affix wire inlays to intentional gouges in marquetry and similar projects, I don't have much experience with the "woodworking" versions of Cyanoacrylate glues. 1. Are they compatible with surface finishes like varnish or drying oils (Tung, linseed, walnut, Danish [yes, I know that is a varnish/oil blend for the impatient not a real oil, but I like it]) or will it leave a milky splotch like wood glue does? 2. Are they compatible with hide glue (etc)--will a hide glue & sawdust paste used to repair deeper gouges, cracks, and scratches stick to wood that has been reinforced against checking by low viscosity CA?
Where can i find this an do it work on outdoor wood railing
Can this be used on an outdoor table?
Yes it sure can, it will close any current splitting but once you close a crack on a table in the elements it will most likely crack in a new spot especially with changing humidity and even more so with direct sunlight.
Thank you for the response! We bought a wooden outdoor table last year that had a small crack in it when purchased.. it has since expanded quite a bit. The company offered to send us a new table but we were trying not to be wasteful.. would you recommend taking them up on the offer or do you think we can prevent new cracks with any method? @@ToolsThatBuild
