      KP Kev the Poet I love the music by Hans Zimmer & Junkie XL. Best Batman theme since Shirley Walker's, in my opinion. It's unfortunate Hans Zimmer won't be doing any more music for the DCEU.

      I really like BvS, I think there is a lot of "bandwagon" hate, people who went into the movie after they heard a few critics and made up their mind before they sat down to watch the movie. I hope you have legit problem with the movie and not just another one of these mindless zombie haters.

  • @blackphillip2264
    @blackphillip2264 8 років тому +10

    In a perfect world this would be The Batman movie:
    Batman (played by Ben Affleck) fights Red Hood (played by Matt Damon). You have Jared Leto as Joker in flashbacks of how he "killed" a young Robin. Affleck and Damon co-write it.
    Am I right or what?

    • @blackphillip2264
      @blackphillip2264 8 років тому

      redhood 2266 Jared Leto isn't a bad Joker at all especially for this Universe, everyone needs to just let Ledger's Joker rest.

    • @blackphillip2264
      @blackphillip2264 8 років тому +1

      redhood 2266 give me ONE good reason Damon wouldn't make a good Red Hood?? He looks and can play younger than Affleck, he is jacked and is an incredible actor, he can do action and fighting films extremely well, Red Hood is basically a Jason Bourne, Affleck and Damon have insane chemistry and are best friends, they are brilliant when they write together....
      Please tell me how you gonna shit on Damon?

    • @blackphillip2264
      @blackphillip2264 8 років тому

      redhood 2266 Well if I can convince you any: Matt Damon is magic and also fits the needs of a Red Hood to a tee. A grown older Robin who's an assassin now ? Come on he's perfect. And when it comes to Joker: they've tried that already. They've done the Mark Hamill/Jack Nicholson type Joker, they've done the genuine crazy real world joker. They HAD TO try something new and they HAD to take more from Batman Beyond and go over the top. In this new DC universe, Batman is fighting monsters and aliens and Superman and Glamazons etc. etc. it isn't supposed to be grounded... It's supposed to be way over the top comic and cartoony. It's perfect for this universe.

    • @tko4051
      @tko4051 8 років тому +4

      Or maybe just maybe you're in the minority of people besides tweenage girls who think Leto was a good joker. Leto's Joker was an unbelievably cringe-worthy embarrassment to any Batman fan.

    Hi Kevin. I agree WB wouldn't let you direct, but perhaps you could sign on as technical advisor. As a lifelong comic fan there are few Hollywood regulars that seem to understand and love the comic universe. You Kevin are far more of a comic fan than even I am, and I trust you to know what we comic fans want from our live action comic movies. Also I read your Superman script with Brainiac and I loved it. It's too late for you to write the script for the next Batman movie, but perhaps you could convince WB not to have Batman with guns or for Lex Luthor to act like a kid with daddy issues. Lex Luthor has long been one of my favorite DC characters. Luthor while he loses almost always brings a god (Superman) nearly to his knees time and time again with little more than but will power, and his mind. Also I'd imagine like myself you would be willing to do this for free just to try to ensure the Batman movie is good.
    Thanks

    Holy shit, that part about multiple, smaller Batman movies is smart - I'd DEFINITELY pay to see two Batman movies a year. Different lead actors, different directors, different supporting characters & villains..... Even a (relatively) dud one would still be fun & you could use the other release in that year to beat it up with. If the studio was putting $30-$50 million per movie, they'd never not make their bankroll. And it could feed lesser characters that worked up into the bigger, more serious DCU movies - I'd love to see Batfleck teaming up with a Bludhaven based Nightwing!

    You could tell in a lot of his interviews that was one thing he probably didn't want to go through, the backlash. Everyone has a breaking point. Ton of people hated on him for being Batman, turned to love him but criticized the movie a ton. And then Live By Night happened. I have a feeling all that criticism and everything about Batman affected him that much that he couldn't concentrate well on that movie. So his confidence dropped a ton. The pressure that he is recognized as one of the best directors and everyone wants this DCEU to work. Everyone is asking him every day, looking at him every day as the person who will turn this thing around and make it great. Let's just face it he can't handle it and who can blame him? If he was just directing that would be one thing, but he has to star in it as well, mostly in a costume jumping and fighting around. I mean it's exhausting just being Batman, but now directing, on top of that the pressure? He wouldn't survive and I don't think the movie would have been that great because he is right. All that would not allow him to perform at the highest level necessary. I think that's what happened to Live By Night and it'll be 100 times worse on Batman.
    I wish Ben and Kevin could get their situation, whatever it is, past them and be great friends again.

    Kev on directing Batman: "They want to hedge their bets with someone who has dealt with big budgets and worked on big projects..." What? Like, maybe that was the film industry in 1999. But lately we're having directors come from making WEB SHORTS to directing big budget features. They want young people with buzz who will work for cheap. That's been the trend, anyhow.

    The Flash lost its director 3 months ago and hasn't found a replacement (as far as we know, anyway). Cyborg and Green Lantern Corps are still up in the air. Now The Batman has lost its director too (but for what it's worth, Affleck's reasoning for leaving (assuming it's true) is pretty good. And he's still going to be heavily involved). But Aquaman has had a table read, has a new cast member, and is apparently close to another casting with Nicole Kidman as AquaMama. So that seems to be going smoothly.
    ...WHO HAD MONEY ON AQUAMAN BEING THE "SAFE" ONE!? Seriously, every other DCEU hero should be a much safer bet than him! All of them are more popular and an easier sell than him! Batman and Superman have already proven to be popular, Wonder Woman was a very big part to the Justice League cartoon and had her own successful TV show back in the 70's, Green Lantern had both the Justice League and his own CGI cartoon's that were both well regarded and were popular, Cyborg had the Teen Titans cartoon about a decade ago which was also popular and well regarded, and The Flash had the same JL cartoon as Green Lantern and his own TV show currently airing! Aquaman had a couple of line in the JL cartoon and Batman: The Brave & The Bold, but other than that he's not really made much if an appearance outside of the comics, and is by far the hardest character to sell well out of all of these. And yet... his movie is the one that's going well!?

    You can't make a good Batman movie by making him a murderer. The philosophy is at the heart of all of his conflicts with villains. No moral authority, no Batman. Only elseworld stories do this and there is a reason why. Snyder and Affleck pulled a Schumacher nipple with that move.

    as for his Death of Superman Script if my memory is right you can of course correct me if i'm wrong, he said that had a lot of dialog in but not enough action. hence why he doesn't do action movies cause it's just not his thing. yes he did Cop out but it wasn't his script and i wish it had been it would have made a better film.

The more I think about it the more I realize we really have yet to see the Batman as the World's Greatest Detective. Sure there's a couple of scenes where he figured something out. But there's never been a mystery, we've never really seen him deduce. That's what the world needs!

    Nolan could have at least come close to comparing to Dark Knight, maybe, if his third movie would have been called BATMAN; KNIGHTFALL where an at-his-peak Batsey fought through a small army of mercs to get to Bane (in place of the Rogues' Gallery; hell of a lot more than DKR's Bane pre-fight 5 mercs, anyway)
    and got his back broke...
    and had a newly introduced Jean Paul Valley take over as Batman for a while...
    and had to retrain himself while Valley went off the deep end...(maybe then Levitt stepping up as a soon-to-be Robin to try to offset Valley might have worked? Idk)
    and then
    and
    and...
    but what do I know eh? As a good friend said once; finding someone who could be in touch enough with The Bat to recreate the epic panel where Batman was standing at the edge of a building, afraid to make THAT jump (...not some climb up a well jump) would be like hitting the lottery

    I have said it before: There is two ways to make a DC movie universe:
    1st- you have to take the characters back to the golden ages of comics; 1950s era, Superman is a boy scout, Technology bit of today's technology in ways that Lexcorp, starlabs, and wayne industries would have, luthor has to be part of every movie in some form or another and lastly film it in the same way as Captain Sky Command and the World of Tomorrow.
    2nd way; present day- base the universe with the idea that all these heroes and villains exist. We need in short, young justice story telling. Like young justice, the villains were more connected than the heroes. That, can be DC's mid credit Marvel scenes.

    If I was going to make a B-man movie, I would do it in the style of the Gotham Central comic, seen from the viewpoint of the police and criminals.
    Batman would be considered an urban myth by most, and he would not be seen for most of the movie.
    I'd ignore the secret identity, though you might see an apprearance by Bruce Wayne at some point.
    And I'd make no mention of his dead parents or anything like that.
    B-man would be scary and mysterious.
    We've seen a million stories where we are along with batman for the ride.
    I would like to see him as the monster, and you never know when he will strike.
    Viewers should be jumping at shadows..
    Remember the bit in Batman Begins where he's at the docks, stealthily taking out goons? "Where are you!?" - "Here." SCREAM THUD
    Like that.
    The two main characters would be Renee Montoya, and a street-punk mixed up in criminal activity.
    They end up working together at the end in a big battle where Batman is taking on a villain and henchmen.
    Oh, and at no point would he say: "I'm Batman".
    In fact, he might get no dialogue at all. Or maybe just one line. Silent Bob style.

    Ok, I think Batman Begins was the best out of Nolan's trilogy, Simple because it had the most batman-esque of the Batman, Dark Knight solely rid on Ledgers performance as the Joker, (Much respect to him) But It could have easily been another cop movie if you took out Batman, You could have had Gary Oldman/Detective Gordan as the lead and it still would have worked... I thought having batman sit down during that interrogation scene was stupid. With all the lights on too lol

    I agree wit ur idea of a diff movie every year. I had an idea when i heard about the Sirens & Deadshot movie rumors. I said to have Ben be in Sirens as a side character but not as little as he was in SS. But the Deadshot movie would be awesome. I got the idea of Amanda Waller having someone kidnap his daughter like Taken-esque & he has to get Batman to help him. Overall it would be awesome to have movies consistantly or movies he has sum involvement with. So many possible movies it has to be done.

    Everyone has to remember that it's not the director(s) BUT the Script that REALLY MATTER. And I think that WB is to involved with DC and they don't know what they're doing and somehow are screwing things... And I really think they screwed over Affleck on this last film with the timing and other shit we won't know about until a much later time when this series is completely over and Affleck can discuss further.

This is My Dream Team I would put in charge of the DC Film Universe to ensure epic, glorious, DC Movies 🎥.

    I'd love to see Lexi Alexander direct The Batman after rewatching Punisher War Zone a couple weeks ago. Like come on that opening scene is the best opening scene for a comic book movie, just instantly shows what kind of a character Frank is if you've never heard of him.

    Whoever gives us the next great Batman movie is someone who's going to do it by simply ignoring what came before, whether we're talking Burton Batman or The Dark Knight, and just say "This is its own thing. It doesn't have to 'measure up' to anything that came before. It's got to succeed on its own merits and achieve its own goals." I personally hope that the next Batman movie we get is something that isn't so beholden to "realism" and instead brings us a little more into the realm of the comics (Arkham style, basically).

    I think one of the big reasons Ben dropped out of the director's chair was because these big blockbuster are like massive corporations. To star, write, produce, AND direct is just too much responsibility. Plus, trying to watch playbacks on the monitor in between takes in a big rubber suit sounds pretty uncomfortable.

    IMHO, the whole Ben directing Batman thing is not a major problem. The problem is WB doesn't know how to handle its artistic strategy properly and of course there isn't a formula out of it but Kevin Feige and all the people at Marvel knew their intentions from the very beginning and they are enjoying the outcome of it. WB made a terrible mistake in the "act first, ask later" approach like the script is not even finished and they already announced Deathstroke as the villain, c'mon! There is some reason why so many filmmakers (who are not already big names and should consider these big properties as doors for more personal projects) get out of them so easily. Let's focus on that, on WB handle.
