He was in a war for who knows how long, he saw countless friends die and was forced to kill many others because they were a threat to others, his greatest enemy being the one who was like a brother to him, the object that could have saved his home was destroyed, he was betrayed by his master who was almost a father to him, and when he thought he and his kind could finally live in peace, they are betrayed by the race they thought were their allies, hunting, not only those he sees as friends, but as family, who, if it wasn't enough that they were hunted and killed, their bodies are desecrated, being treated as machines and not as sentient beings, and as icing on the cake, he discovers that he was not born, but created. It is understood why Optimus behaves that way in AOE. He is not only angry, but also sad and tired. If it wasn't for Cade, God knows what he would have done when he left Earth.
It would be interesting to see a transformers movie where the other Autobots and deceptions are all dead and he’s the only survivor and KSI are making transformers and they make another Optimus Prime and they call him “Prometheus Prime” (Don’t ask why I chose that name) and Optimus is angry but Prometheus gains a conscience and joins Optimus and I’m guessing they somehow bring back Megatron and although Optimus kills him he dies and passes the torch onto Prometheus Prime and he becomes a true Prime and leads a new generation of Cybertronians
