I have a theory that Celeste was from a poor family, and worked her way up with her luck of gambling. Whether she was raised by lower-class parents or was even orphaned, she definitely has trust issues
she didn't want to be normal, so her parents were probably people with completely average lives, the type of person that lives day after day, not happy not sad, just living, celeste most likely had a very low opinion of her parents for them being aimless, she cut off with them because of a fear of ending up like them, and she had a fear of being her own self because she never grew her "own" self, and thought that being like that would make her the same as her parents
I think that is why her name fits into it. Celestia referring to heavenly while the Yasu in Yasuhiro can be interpreted as "cheap". How do I explain this? It's kind of a term when something is like, very low or insignificant. Explains why she hates the name "Yasuhiro" so much and calls it a loser's name. Celes wanted to stand out, so she put on a persona.
"I am rather proud of my ability to tell lies. I can trick not only others, but even my own heart." I swear to all unholy, if she's lying now, t's basically her saying "Liar liar pants on fire." or "My nose will now grow." to herself. You know what, just look up the liar paradox instead.
I actually felt a little bad for her. She made this flamboyant persona for herself but she was just a teenager just like everyone else. She had fears and anxieties just like everyone else. She dreamed of a future where she was happy just like everyone else. After the trial she said something to Kirigiri, that she couldn't see hope in their situation, in Alter Ego specifically. She fell into despair and that's just what Junko wanted. She wasn't evil just like the SDR2 characters weren't evil. Junko is the one to blame for all of the murders.
According to her wiki (i've only read part of it.) She and her cat were very close, her cat was the closest to her. -also her cat is in ultra despair girls as a "demon"-
celestia first caught my attention due to her design, i mean, to this day she has the best design out of all characters, but i loved her personality, its a bit like mine( im not fucked up, people,lol). i definitely agree her murder was ridiculously easy, i mean, at that point theres the people who obviously wont die(naegi,kirigiri and togami), hiro is being framed, toko is comic relief(it could be her, but together with hifumi???not likely), and then hina and sakura could commit a murder together, but not along with hifumi. so it was obvious it was her...still my favorite character to this day in the series, and im in love that v3 features her...
Celestia was my favorite dgrp character in 1 (Heavily boosted by design + her execution) I also was really pissed cause Like I could tell she was gonna be murdered/a murderer when in the anime episode she actually made a huge impact!
I never liked Celeste's trial either. When she said, "just like those guys died" couldn't she have said that she was just referring to all who were previously murdered. I am referring to Sayaka, Junko, Leon, Chihiro, Mondo, and Hifumi. Not Taka since that was the root problem with her statement. I'm guessing this was because of localization boundaries. Maybe in the Japanese version she said specific words that can only be referred to "two or more men" instead of "those guys" which in English can refer to any gender. I am just guessing though, because if they never even thought of her using this as a reason for her saying that then this trial disappoints me even more.

Yeah that's what I thought when I first heard her say that while it is happening so I felt bad for her because she was actually showing sign of her being nervous the first time. but it appears I was just a mess up on her part, which was never really explained how it could have been something else
If you didn't know already, she liked her execution by burning at a stake since almost nobody has been executed like that in real life. Her getting hit by the fire truck caused despair due to the fact her death was the most common one.
Since Gundam tanaka isn't normal. ...like at all. I wonder if celeste would take interest in him? like she did with hifumi. I know that she hates the thought of being normal. I would love to see Celeste trying to manipulate Gundam xD. That is something I would like to see, those two are one of my favorite danganronpa character.
@@efrenangeles7386 she lies to herself as well, the person closest to her is her pet, she could 100% bond with Gundham Tanaka The Supreme Overlord of Ice, she and Sonia are similar character archetypes but would definitely shock with each other, Sonia would probably end up taking an interest to Celeste at first because of her liking to this type of thing, but become conflictive with her after seeing her interact with Gundham, Celeste would probably take a liking to Sonia, mostly if Sonia started a conflict with her, since that'd make Sonia seem inferior ( Sonia is pretty much perfect, without showing her defects Celeste would definitely not like her much ). I could see Sonia trying to get close to Celeste and failing, with a very antagonistic Celeste telling her off, and then after seeing Celeste becoming "friends" with Gundham, getting mad about it, then trying to become Celeste's rival, leading Celeste to make Sonia's bad characteristics way more visible, while enjoying herself throughly. Celeste would probably be an antagonistic character like Mondo, but way less, with her looking like a bully, but if she's spent time with, it'd look like Sonia was at fault.
To be honest, I thought the "just like those guys" was referencing everyone up to that point (ie. Leon, Chihiro, etc.). Maybe I'm just dumb, but I didn't think the case was obvious.
In my opinion the case was obvious but not for the “those guys did” reason. I say it was obvious when she screamed to get everyone to the third floor saying she saw Robo Justice go to the physics lab. If that is the case, Robo Justice shouldn’t have been able to “kill” Hifumi. Makoto himself said that it was weird how Robo Justice was able to kill Hifumi unless he teleported. This immediately made me suspect her as that meant she was lying.

I think the case is obvious from a viewer using context clues to meta game the mystery type of way. However, I think the plan is pretty clever and introduces a lot of firsts for the series such as having two bodies and mixing up the time of deaths. The those two line is not condemning evidence imo. The only big mistake she does is choosing an unreliable accomplice as all the major evidence is left by Hifumi (the note, the blood on his glasses, her real name).

Don't you think that Celes has similarities with the remnants of despair? I mean her need of manipulate, her personality twists, looks like she is a "potencial victim" for Junko Enoshima... And in the photos that Monokuma gives for a motive she's always alone (excepting the one with Yamada and Maizono). Personally I think that she has all the potencial for being part of the Ultimate despair group, and knowing Junko i can't imagine she wouldn't have noticed that. I think she would be a much better character in the second game, but I hope that they explain how she survived the despair. Her potencial as character, at time, is wasted.
I think she survived through the others before the killing game began. It would make sense if everybody survived because they relied on each other. I'm mainly basing this on the photo and the revelations in the final case. Plus I like how they presented Celeste's character as power hungry however I think that she could explore Celeste's personality through other things like the photos. I also think that it could be possible that she relied on Yamada because she unconsciously remembered him before being mind wiped. This would also coincide with why several characters seemed to remember things even after being mind wiped.
Clan PureAngelz Yes, i think the same, but they should give us more information, i really think that Celeste in some point fell into despair but her classmates "Saved" her. And i think that they should make an anime for that, or at least a couple OVAS.
I think it's the other way around. What we see is her personality before she interacted with, on normal terms, with her classmates. After two years of fun times and hardships with them, I have no doubt she softened up to them and showed her true self, unfortunately giving Junko more ammo in the process. There's even clues to this such as Hifumi remembering her true name, something she had to be comfortable in sharing with all of them once upon a time since both he and Junko were aware of it. Plus, in the picture we see of her and Hifumi they seemed to have had a rather close friendship as well. Probably because they're both otaku. She seemed like such a different person, someone touched by the kindness of her classmates and the fantastic experiences they shared. I don't think she ever fell in despair because of them, plus it doesn't really seem to mesh well with her personality, she's far too selfish (before being touched by her classmates) and doesn't seem easily manipulated. The other UDs all have something that can cause them to be easily led by Junko. Hajime's betrayal by the academy and Izuru's boredom. Nagito's lust for hope. Gundham's tragic past. Sonia's need to fit in. Kazuichi's love for Sonia and mentally weak nature. Hiyoko's natural tendency towards violence. Akane's street past. I could go on, but more than likely this will be addressed in the Danganronpa 3 anime.
gaaraxnaru I loved your answer, and I think the same, she didn´t fell into despair because her classmates, but she do have a weakness, she hated her true personallity, I'm 100% sure that she instead of being in Naegi's class she had been in Nagito's she would be part of ultimate despair too... Even so I want to see more of her, how she came along with her classmates, and how they could overcame the despair of Junko.

Random thing Celestes execution could be read in two ways 1:the more common one that she wanted to be unique so much that she smiled because her death was nothing like the others(being burned at the stake) but because during punishment they are supposed to feel pain and despair so she dies by getting hit by a car, a common death 2: this probably is very out there but the blackened has to pay for who they killed, now technically celeste never killed 2 people but she did orchestrate the whole thing so she gets burned at the stake and hit by a truck as she is responsible for two deaths just like junko suffered every punishment because she is responsible for all the executions Its really farfetched but idk i sort of believe it
This actually is my favorite trial only because Celeste is my favorite character in the whole series. Not that this is the best trial at all it was very obvious from pretty much the beginning. I mostly enjoyed her breakdown during the trial
Do you think possibly the disappointment of the chapter reflects her as a character? She (and to an extent, the game itself) builds herself up to be something big when really she is boring and not noteworthy as Taeko Yasuhiro. The chapter's predictability and disappointment might be a metaphor for your expectations of her being let down because of who she really is, just like everyone else would be if they knew about her... It's unfortunate that she didn't get to have as spectacular a character arc as she deserved but, intentional or not, I think it's a good reflection of her character.
NOTE: So right as I finished editing this video, I realized that I’ve actually been pronouncing Celes’ nickname wrong the entire time… It should be pronounced like “Seh-less” instead of “Seh-leese”. I then realized that if I ended up going back and trying to correct it in the video, I would have had to start the editing process ALL over again and that would’ve taken forever. I was just on UA-cam one day watching kakegurui related things until a video about Celestia popped up and I thought she looked cool so I watched it and on that day I said screw kakegurui I want this. So basically Im in the danganronpa fandom because of Celestia Ludenberg who is now my comfort character.
Celeste was so very reliable. I think everyone- at one time has tried to assume a persona to make themselves more interesting while maybe even not intensional- I am guilty of this. while older now and it does seem that important to high school student it's everything. Status, rank, personality, individuality and a need to be important is absolute. While it's a simple case I oddly liked it, even though I abore obvious cases and simple motives unless done well. However I think i enjoyed it simply because it showed her mask slipping and switch between accents and way of speech.
I like Celeste. She's a great character with her calm collected alter ego (heh) hiding her more unstable and almost self loathing real self. Kinda wish there was more time given to her, and that her trial was better, but she's cool enough as is.

According to a fact I found,Ibuki was in a band with Sayaka and another character who I forgot but Sayaka left after she started disliking their music.
No one had ANY proof it was actually Celeste, Celeste said "They" she could've meant the ones that were already dead that doesn't mean it HAS to be Taka and Hifumi.... When Hifumi said "Yasuhiro" when he died he couldn't have known that was Celestes last name, how would he? Only Monokuma knew that. As Celeste being my favorite character Its just so annoying seeing that there was no actual proof that she did it which made the trial just make no sense, I might be wrong but these are the only things that made them think Its her. Celeste should've had survived. When you think for a second in every other trial they're demanding more proof.

How does the photo exist then? I think the photo was basically proof enough that she was a part of the murder scheme and as soon as we had proven that the man in the robo justice suit wasn't the murderer it was clear that she had to be a part of the murder scheme.

The reason why Hifumi did know Celeste's real last name is because when he was dying he remembered every thing before they were brainwashed, including Celeste's real first and last name and remember only Hifumi calls people by their last name.
So if Celestia Ludenberg and Nagito Komaida were to play poker or something who would win? Celeste has crazy luck when gambling and Nagito is just lucky in general so I genuinely wanna see what happens :P
Didn't she mention that she played a game with an old man and a "silver haired boy that claimed to have devil's own luck"? It might've been Nagito (That's a theory btw, so we don't actually know if it was him)
@@jsshdyg1301 I know this is late, but no. The guy died while playing it was a death game. If he died why would it be Nagito. Remember Nagito’s hair falls on the white catalog and not grey he also has orange pinkish highlights.
i believe in Danganronpa S she challenges Nagito to a game of mahjong to see who's luck would outperform one another. Forgot the result of that, though but its in her free time event.
2:11 - Yeah, she definitely *wants* the castle and servants and lifestyle, but her cavalier explanation of wanting it basically "just because" is a big fat lie - the REAL reason she wants it is because it would secure a life where she could forever live as her character, Celestia Ludenburg, who is always in control, rather than her real self, Taeko Yasuhiro, who feels like she has none. She makes it look like it's pursued out of pure greed and vanity because she doesn't want to show that it's really pursued out of fear and insecurity. Dangan Academy mode really makes it obvious - she's so scared of living a normal life as a normal person that she has to rank people based on how much she can trust them and sincerely desire to interact with them. And the saddest part is that she overcame all of this when she chose to stay at Hope's Peak, but freaking Junko....

***** yeah! Mahiru is in my top 3 favourite characters from DR2, along with Hiyoko and Ibuki, so a character analysis of either of them in not all would be fantastic!
I've posted a couple of theories on Hiyoko. They all seem p good. If you wanna read, here you go.. 1. I believe the reason she bullies Mikan is because she reminds Hiyoko of her past self. It's more than likely that Hiyoko has been bullied at some point in her life, due to her height and overall persona. Hiyoko may have been a small timid girl before arriving at Hope's Peak or even earlier than that. Mikan is extremely timid and somewhat vulnerable, which Hiyoko may have just been at some point in her life. 2. Hiyoko's 'loud' personality, may be an act, similar to Celestia Ludenberg. Her very cocky, sassy and rude personality, may be fake to make up for her height. Most people of her size (not meaning to discriminate) tend to have very big or loud/rude personalities, they think it'll get them attention. At some point in Danganronpa 2, Hiyoko realizes that this whole attention-seeking persona wasn't turning out for the better, as all the attention she was recieving was negative, so she decided to try and change herself.
Idk about you guys but I feel like she doesn't directly refer to Yamada and Ishimaru when she says "We're going to die, just like those guys died." To me it sounds more like she's talking about all of the other students that have died.. Somehow I feel like it makes more sense...
Excuse me, I don't mean to be pushy, but I would love to see a Character Analysis for Hiyoko Saionji. I know that not many people at all like her character, which honestly kinda saddens me. Anyway, I feel that there is a lot more to Hiyoko than her foul mouth and generally bad attitude. For instance, she ends up forgiving Fuyuhiko for being behind Mahiru's murder. She clearly was attempting to change. Unfortunately, before Hiyoko could truly turn a new leaf, Mikan killed her. This made me very sad as I was anticipating being able to witness a change of heart from Hiyoko. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate a character analysis for Hiyoko Saionji. Thank you.
In Dangan Ronpa: The Stage, she doesn't even kill anyone yet I liked the outcome more. In DR: The Stage, anyone who votes wrong is also killed, so Ishimaru dies with Owada, and then it skips to Ogami's death, which is still a suicide, but by this point Celes has given into despair and throws the trial into disarray by pretending to be the murderer and trying to take the rest of them down with her. She maintains form right up until the end when she meets her death with a smile and a wish to see everyone in the next life. Unfortunately she only takes Yamada with her.
I just noticed Celestia's cat's demon name is "Nekonekomaru" I'm not sure when the Warriors of Hope met Nekomaru to be able to make that comparison, but now I have to wonder if Grand Bois Cheri Ludenburg needs to use entire sandboxes full of kitty litter... And the fact that Cheri has Hifumi's face raises so many questions...
I saw one person discuss how she could have had Aspergers Syndrome and I feel like that had some merit, also, personally, I think she probably would have had better luck of survival if she had just not killed Yamada, by killing him, she put herself on the chopping block rather than just make it so he killed Ishimaru and she was the reason why he was driven to commit the murder, thus still feeding her ego, but keeping herself relatively safe (I also really liked her and the first time around, I really hoped that she would have survived based on my first impressions).
This is honestly one of my favorite series I've seen. I love things like character analysis and just kind of digging deeper into a characters story and personality. And I was wondering if maybe you could do one on Ruruka? She's quite a complex character and the things she does is quite questionable and I'd like to see you do an analysis on her cause you're very good at it! Ah, but of course, you don't have to.

Really? I thought it made perfect sense why she gave him so much power. Yes, she did want to protect her ego and manipulate him to show she was in control and above him and everyone else, but she also gave herself somewhat of a consolation prize. If her plan worked like she believed it would she would prove to herself she was above the rest and protect her ego, but if it failed she would be executed. What better way to die, a thing so common, then to be executed? This way even if she failed her death was just as unique and not average as you could get.Plus she probably thought it would be grand and special like her.After all the executions so far had been fit to each person. This is why she was smiling while she was burning. This kind of death was uncommon now and when it was popular to kill people this way the people who were killed were supposedly witches,the unique and powerful. This is why monokuma hitting her with the fire truck would have caused her so much despair. Junko would have seen though it all and wanted to tell her that not only did she fail in having a unique death she would have the most common, her manipulation didn't work and she was powerless to do anything about it. The ultimate despair for Celestia Ludenberg.
This is one of the few murderers that killed for the main motive to escape and be free of the killing game. She truly just wanted to escape. She was afraid and was in a powerless position. She had no control of the situation and snapped just like Sayaka. Before anyone responds, I’m not saying what she did was not okay. But I feel sympathy for almost all the murderers, in THH the characters think they’re 16, so these teenagers are in a scary and hopeless situation.
Celeste's death was sad. Especially for as she is my favorite D1 character. She wanted to be unique. When she was getting burned she smiled because you usually don't die in a fire. When the firetruck came she stopped smiling. Because car accidents are the most common deaths. As a said. She wanted to be unique
I honestly liked Celeste, I thought her whole persona was pretty cool and mysterious, and her execution is definitely one of my favourites because of how poetic/ironic it is (burned at the stake in front of a lavish castle, gets killed by common vehicle)
I always like Celes she was interesting. it's sad that she's gone and that's my main issue with Danganronpa 2. it's like since it was a virtual thing nothing in that killing game mattered. no one died for real. in the first Danganronpa everyone who died is dead and gone and NOT coming back. by having it just be a virtual reality with a possibility of everyone who died coming back it just felt like a big cop out from killing more of our beloved characters. However, I can see the argument made about how Danganronpa 2 is a story about how hope wins out in the end.
I like to think Celeste didn't get to do too much in her childhood, and that her parents kinda tried to control her, and make her gamble for their benefit, and that's why she tries to control everyone in the killing game, since she finally has an opportunity to start a new life as Celestia Ludenberg where her parents wouldn't be able to control her, or hurt her. She would finally have a little power and freedom in her life (Despite being locked up in a school) to work with.
😕Personally I like her mostly for aesthetic purposes but this really helped me to understand her very complicated relationships with others and made me realize I think a lot like her.😐
I feel as if Celeste gave hifumi so much power because of her inferiority complex(which is why this alter ego of celeste was made i believe) and in general, hifumi has been loyal to her. It also boosts her character in general, as somebody to be served
Personally, I believe that Taeko developed some form of OCD when she was living with her biological parents. That would explain why she needs to maintain her rules, and breaks down when her order comes down around her. It also may have reinforced her Celestia Ludenberg persona. If my research is correct, one of the signs of OCD is replacing ‘bad thoughts’ with ‘good thoughts’. And if, say, you wanted to replace some bad thoughts, such as being “worthless” and “just another person”, but didn’t have any good thoughts to replace them with, you’d make some up to act as a sort of coping device. Hence, Celestia Ludenberg was born.
Great Video! I really love how much depth there is to so many of the characters in Danganronpa, even when they seem to be basic archetypes or just gag characters. Two people I'd really like to see analyses on are Hajime and Chiaki.
I am deeply fascinated by Celestia Ludenber. I honestly thought her plan to try to win was very complicated and smart, especially how she was able to kill two people and confuse the others. I think she is in some ways characterized as a very realistic person, you know, someone acting/wishing to be like someone else. I honestly kinda wish she survived in the end. She's honestly my 3rd favorite female character in Danganronpa.
I was really proud of figuring out Celeste’s guilt from the moment she had the students start running after the costumed figure. I had no issue with her seeming “obvious.” I also liked the strange idea of a costumed killer that brought that trial.
great analysis, way to go deep on these characters action. I never saw that nighttime rule as Celes' attempt to take control of the group; just thought it was a way to try to add some protection against getting killed. Also for why it seems like she was giving Yamada so much power in their murder scheme I don't think she saw it that way. She probably saw it as something like one of those video games where the player's character issues commands to NPCs and have them do all the work while they be on top; so in fact to herself, Celes believed that she still had total control over the situation.
Good analysis! I actually think the idea of Celes being interested in/sympathetic towards Hifumi is intriguing. Even if it doesn't necessarily match up with her trial and murders, I think this idea adds another layer to both of these characters' personalities. :)
There is one thing that majorly bugs me about trial three , how in the world did Yamada know celes 's true name or was that apart of the part till the end
When Celes knocked Yamada on the head with the hammer to kill him, he actually recovered some of his memories when they all used to be friends, that's why he knew her real name right before he died.

something that really bothers me is how Makoto instantly saw through some of her lies, but they were believable lies. Like, someone can move to different countries or just have genetic origins that are different to where they grew up in.

The ultimate liar wouldn't so easily show that they were lying the way she did in the trial; that is what i found particularly disappointing; her poker face was weak.
She’s not the ultimate liar though, she’s the ultimate gambler. And she didn’t get so good at gambling because of her lies, she got good at gambling because of her luck.

I actually felt a little bad for her. She made this flamboyant persona for herself but she was just a teenager just like everyone else. She had fears and anxieties just like everyone else. She dreamed of a future where she was happy just like everyone else. After the trial she said something to Kirigiri, that she couldn't see hope in their situation, in Alter Ego specifically. She fell into despair and that's just what Junko wanted. She wasn't evil just like the SDR2 characters weren't evil. Junko is the one to blame for all of the murders.

celestia first caught my attention due to her design, i mean, to this day she has the best design out of all characters, but i loved her personality, its a bit like mine( im not fucked up, people,lol). i definitely agree her murder was ridiculously easy, i mean, at that point theres the people who obviously wont die(naegi,kirigiri and togami), hiro is being framed, toko is comic relief(it could be her, but together with hifumi???not likely), and then hina and sakura could commit a murder together, but not along with hifumi. so it was obvious it was her...still my favorite character to this day in the series, and im in love that v3 features her...

I never liked Celeste's trial either. When she said, "just like those guys died" couldn't she have said that she was just referring to all who were previously murdered. I am referring to Sayaka, Junko, Leon, Chihiro, Mondo, and Hifumi. Not Taka since that was the root problem with her statement. I'm guessing this was because of localization boundaries. Maybe in the Japanese version she said specific words that can only be referred to "two or more men" instead of "those guys" which in English can refer to any gender. I am just guessing though, because if they never even thought of her using this as a reason for her saying that then this trial disappoints me even more.

I could see Sonia trying to get close to Celeste and failing, with a very antagonistic Celeste telling her off, and then after seeing Celeste becoming "friends" with Gundham, getting mad about it, then trying to become Celeste's rival, leading Celeste to make Sonia's bad characteristics way more visible, while enjoying herself throughly.
Celeste would probably be an antagonistic character like Mondo, but way less, with her looking like a bully, but if she's spent time with, it'd look like Sonia was at fault.

To be honest, I thought the "just like those guys" was referencing everyone up to that point (ie. Leon, Chihiro, etc.). Maybe I'm just dumb, but I didn't think the case was obvious.
In my opinion the case was obvious but not for the “those guys did” reason. I say it was obvious when she screamed to get everyone to the third floor saying she saw Robo Justice go to the physics lab. If that is the case, Robo Justice shouldn’t have been able to “kill” Hifumi. Makoto himself said that it was weird how Robo Justice was able to kill Hifumi unless he teleported. This immediately made me suspect her as that meant she was lying.

I think the case is obvious from a viewer using context clues to meta game the mystery type of way. However, I think the plan is pretty clever and introduces a lot of firsts for the series such as having two bodies and mixing up the time of deaths. The those two line is not condemning evidence imo. The only big mistake she does is choosing an unreliable accomplice as all the major evidence is left by Hifumi (the note, the blood on his glasses, her real name).

Don't you think that Celes has similarities with the remnants of despair? I mean her need of manipulate, her personality twists, looks like she is a "potencial victim" for Junko Enoshima... And in the photos that Monokuma gives for a motive she's always alone (excepting the one with Yamada and Maizono). Personally I think that she has all the potencial for being part of the Ultimate despair group, and knowing Junko i can't imagine she wouldn't have noticed that.
I think she would be a much better character in the second game, but I hope that they explain how she survived the despair.

I think she survived through the others before the killing game began. It would make sense if everybody survived because they relied on each other. I'm mainly basing this on the photo and the revelations in the final case. Plus I like how they presented Celeste's character as power hungry however I think that she could explore Celeste's personality through other things like the photos. I also think that it could be possible that she relied on Yamada because she unconsciously remembered him before being mind wiped. This would also coincide with why several characters seemed to remember things even after being mind wiped.
Clan PureAngelz Yes, i think the same, but they should give us more information, i really think that Celeste in some point fell into despair but her classmates "Saved" her. And i think that they should make an anime for that, or at least a couple OVAS.
I think it's the other way around. What we see is her personality before she interacted with, on normal terms, with her classmates. After two years of fun times and hardships with them, I have no doubt she softened up to them and showed her true self, unfortunately giving Junko more ammo in the process. There's even clues to this such as Hifumi remembering her true name, something she had to be comfortable in sharing with all of them once upon a time since both he and Junko were aware of it. Plus, in the picture we see of her and Hifumi they seemed to have had a rather close friendship as well. Probably because they're both otaku. She seemed like such a different person, someone touched by the kindness of her classmates and the fantastic experiences they shared. I don't think she ever fell in despair because of them, plus it doesn't really seem to mesh well with her personality, she's far too selfish (before being touched by her classmates) and doesn't seem easily manipulated. The other UDs all have something that can cause them to be easily led by Junko. Hajime's betrayal by the academy and Izuru's boredom. Nagito's lust for hope. Gundham's tragic past. Sonia's need to fit in. Kazuichi's love for Sonia and mentally weak nature. Hiyoko's natural tendency towards violence. Akane's street past. I could go on, but more than likely this will be addressed in the Danganronpa 3 anime.

Celestes execution could be read in two ways
1:the more common one that she wanted to be unique so much that she smiled because her death was nothing like the others(being burned at the stake) but because during punishment they are supposed to feel pain and despair so she dies by getting hit by a car, a common death
2: this probably is very out there but the blackened has to pay for who they killed, now technically celeste never killed 2 people but she did orchestrate the whole thing so she gets burned at the stake and hit by a truck as she is responsible for two deaths just like junko suffered every punishment because she is responsible for all the executions

Do you think possibly the disappointment of the chapter reflects her as a character? She (and to an extent, the game itself) builds herself up to be something big when really she is boring and not noteworthy as Taeko Yasuhiro. The chapter's predictability and disappointment might be a metaphor for your expectations of her being let down because of who she really is, just like everyone else would be if they knew about her... It's unfortunate that she didn't get to have as spectacular a character arc as she deserved but, intentional or not, I think it's a good reflection of her character.

I was just on UA-cam one day watching kakegurui related things until a video about Celestia popped up and I thought she looked cool so I watched it and on that day I said screw kakegurui I want this. So basically Im in the danganronpa fandom because of Celestia Ludenberg who is now my comfort character.
Celeste was so very reliable. I think everyone- at one time has tried to assume a persona to make themselves more interesting while maybe even not intensional- I am guilty of this. while older now and it does seem that important to high school student it's everything. Status, rank, personality, individuality and a need to be important is absolute.
While it's a simple case I oddly liked it, even though I abore obvious cases and simple motives unless done well. However I think i enjoyed it simply because it showed her mask slipping and switch between accents and way of speech.
I like Celeste. She's a great character with her calm collected alter ego (heh) hiding her more unstable and almost self loathing real self. Kinda wish there was more time given to her, and that her trial was better, but she's cool enough as is.

When Hifumi said "Yasuhiro" when he died he couldn't have known that was Celestes last name, how would he? Only Monokuma knew that.
As Celeste being my favorite character Its just so annoying seeing that there was no actual proof that she did it which made the trial just make no sense, I might be wrong but these are the only things that made them think Its her. Celeste should've had survived. When you think for a second in every other trial they're demanding more proof.

The reason why Hifumi did know Celeste's real last name is because when he was dying he remembered every thing before they were brainwashed, including Celeste's real first and last name and remember only Hifumi calls people by their last name.

2:11 - Yeah, she definitely *wants* the castle and servants and lifestyle, but her cavalier explanation of wanting it basically "just because" is a big fat lie - the REAL reason she wants it is because it would secure a life where she could forever live as her character, Celestia Ludenburg, who is always in control, rather than her real self, Taeko Yasuhiro, who feels like she has none. She makes it look like it's pursued out of pure greed and vanity because she doesn't want to show that it's really pursued out of fear and insecurity.
Dangan Academy mode really makes it obvious - she's so scared of living a normal life as a normal person that she has to rank people based on how much she can trust them and sincerely desire to interact with them. And the saddest part is that she overcame all of this when she chose to stay at Hope's Peak, but freaking Junko....

I've posted a couple of theories on Hiyoko. They all seem p good. If you wanna read, here you go..
1. I believe the reason she bullies Mikan is because she reminds Hiyoko of her past self. It's more than likely that Hiyoko has been bullied at some point in her life, due to her height and overall persona. Hiyoko may have been a small timid girl before arriving at Hope's Peak or even earlier than that. Mikan is extremely timid and somewhat vulnerable, which Hiyoko may have just been at some point in her life.
2. Hiyoko's 'loud' personality, may be an act, similar to Celestia Ludenberg. Her very cocky, sassy and rude personality, may be fake to make up for her height. Most people of her size (not meaning to discriminate) tend to have very big or loud/rude personalities, they think it'll get them attention. At some point in Danganronpa 2, Hiyoko realizes that this whole attention-seeking persona wasn't turning out for the better, as all the attention she was recieving was negative, so she decided to try and change herself.
Theory: She's a chuunibyou.

Excuse me, I don't mean to be pushy, but I would love to see a Character Analysis for Hiyoko Saionji. I know that not many people at all like her character, which honestly kinda saddens me. Anyway, I feel that there is a lot more to Hiyoko than her foul mouth and generally bad attitude. For instance, she ends up forgiving Fuyuhiko for being behind Mahiru's murder. She clearly was attempting to change. Unfortunately, before Hiyoko could truly turn a new leaf, Mikan killed her. This made me very sad as I was anticipating being able to witness a change of heart from Hiyoko. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate a character analysis for Hiyoko Saionji. Thank you.

In Dangan Ronpa: The Stage, she doesn't even kill anyone yet I liked the outcome more. In DR: The Stage, anyone who votes wrong is also killed, so Ishimaru dies with Owada, and then it skips to Ogami's death, which is still a suicide, but by this point Celes has given into despair and throws the trial into disarray by pretending to be the murderer and trying to take the rest of them down with her. She maintains form right up until the end when she meets her death with a smile and a wish to see everyone in the next life. Unfortunately she only takes Yamada with her.

I saw one person discuss how she could have had Aspergers Syndrome and I feel like that had some merit, also, personally, I think she probably would have had better luck of survival if she had just not killed Yamada, by killing him, she put herself on the chopping block rather than just make it so he killed Ishimaru and she was the reason why he was driven to commit the murder, thus still feeding her ego, but keeping herself relatively safe (I also really liked her and the first time around, I really hoped that she would have survived based on my first impressions).

This is honestly one of my favorite series I've seen. I love things like character analysis and just kind of digging deeper into a characters story and personality. And I was wondering if maybe you could do one on Ruruka? She's quite a complex character and the things she does is quite questionable and I'd like to see you do an analysis on her cause you're very good at it! Ah, but of course, you don't have to.
Personally, I believe Celestia realize that Yamada's weaker then her, or that she pity him, making him an easy target for manipulating.
Celeste is a very interesting character,I feel that if she was still alive in Danganronpa she would have made it to the end.
Could you maybe do Leon? I know there isn't a lot to him from what I know. But he just seems interesting in his own way.

Really? I thought it made perfect sense why she gave him so much power. Yes, she did want to protect her ego and manipulate him to show she was in control and above him and everyone else, but she also gave herself somewhat of a consolation prize. If her plan worked like she believed it would she would prove to herself she was above the rest and protect her ego, but if it failed she would be executed. What better way to die, a thing so common, then to be executed? This way even if she failed her death was just as unique and not average as you could get.Plus she probably thought it would be grand and special like her.After all the executions so far had been fit to each person. This is why she was smiling while she was burning. This kind of death was uncommon now and when it was popular to kill people this way the people who were killed were supposedly witches,the unique and powerful. This is why monokuma hitting her with the fire truck would have caused her so much despair. Junko would have seen though it all and wanted to tell her that not only did she fail in having a unique death she would have the most common, her manipulation didn't work and she was powerless to do anything about it. The ultimate despair for Celestia Ludenberg.

This is one of the few murderers that killed for the main motive to escape and be free of the killing game.
She truly just wanted to escape.
She was afraid and was in a powerless position. She had no control of the situation and snapped just like Sayaka.
Before anyone responds, I’m not saying what she did was not okay. But I feel sympathy for almost all the murderers, in THH the characters think they’re 16, so these teenagers are in a scary and hopeless situation.
In my opinion: Celeste gave Yamada so much power so she wouldn't have to do a lot of work, not leaving fingerprinted Etc.

Celeste's death was sad. Especially for as she is my favorite D1 character. She wanted to be unique. When she was getting burned she smiled because you usually don't die in a fire. When the firetruck came she stopped smiling. Because car accidents are the most common deaths. As a said. She wanted to be unique

I honestly liked Celeste, I thought her whole persona was pretty cool and mysterious, and her execution is definitely one of my favourites because of how poetic/ironic it is (burned at the stake in front of a lavish castle, gets killed by common vehicle)

I always like Celes she was interesting. it's sad that she's gone and that's my main issue with Danganronpa 2. it's like since it was a virtual thing nothing in that killing game mattered. no one died for real. in the first Danganronpa everyone who died is dead and gone and NOT coming back. by having it just be a virtual reality with a possibility of everyone who died coming back it just felt like a big cop out from killing more of our beloved characters.
However, I can see the argument made about how Danganronpa 2 is a story about how hope wins out in the end.

I like to think Celeste didn't get to do too much in her childhood, and that her parents kinda
tried to control her, and make her gamble for their benefit, and that's why she tries to control everyone in the killing game, since she finally has an opportunity to start a new life as Celestia Ludenberg where her parents wouldn't be able to control her, or hurt her. She would finally have a little power and freedom in her life (Despite being locked up in a school) to work with.
😕Personally I like her mostly for aesthetic purposes but this really helped me to understand her very complicated relationships with others and made me realize I think a lot like her.😐

I feel as if Celeste gave hifumi so much power because of her inferiority complex(which is why this alter ego of celeste was made i believe) and in general, hifumi has been loyal to her. It also boosts her character in general, as somebody to be served
Personally, I believe that Taeko developed some form of OCD when she was living with her biological parents. That would explain why she needs to maintain her rules, and breaks down when her order comes down around her. It also may have reinforced her Celestia Ludenberg persona. If my research is correct, one of the signs of OCD is replacing ‘bad thoughts’ with ‘good thoughts’. And if, say, you wanted to replace some bad thoughts, such as being “worthless” and “just another person”, but didn’t have any good thoughts to replace them with, you’d make some up to act as a sort of coping device. Hence, Celestia Ludenberg was born.
I do have to wonder what F-Ranks exist... I'm guessing her parents, and I don't think that bit about having F-Ranks assassinated was true...
Great Video! I really love how much depth there is to so many of the characters in Danganronpa, even when they seem to be basic archetypes or just gag characters. Two people I'd really like to see analyses on are Hajime and Chiaki.

I am deeply fascinated by Celestia Ludenber. I honestly thought her plan to try to win was very complicated and smart, especially how she was able to kill two people and confuse the others. I think she is in some ways characterized as a very realistic person, you know, someone acting/wishing to be like someone else. I honestly kinda wish she survived in the end. She's honestly my 3rd favorite female character in Danganronpa.

I was really proud of figuring out Celeste’s guilt from the moment she had the students start running after the costumed figure. I had no issue with her seeming “obvious.” I also liked the strange idea of a costumed killer that brought that trial.

great analysis, way to go deep on these characters action. I never saw that nighttime rule as Celes' attempt to take control of the group; just thought it was a way to try to add some protection against getting killed.
Also for why it seems like she was giving Yamada so much power in their murder scheme I don't think she saw it that way. She probably saw it as something like one of those video games where the player's character issues commands to NPCs and have them do all the work while they be on top; so in fact to herself, Celes believed that she still had total control over the situation.
Good analysis! I actually think the idea of Celes being interested in/sympathetic towards Hifumi is intriguing. Even if it doesn't necessarily match up with her trial and murders, I think this idea adds another layer to both of these characters' personalities. :)

There is one thing that majorly bugs me about trial three , how in the world did Yamada know celes 's true name or was that apart of the part till the end
When Celes knocked Yamada on the head with the hammer to kill him, he actually recovered some of his memories when they all used to be friends, that's why he knew her real name right before he died.

something that really bothers me is how Makoto instantly saw through some of her lies, but they were believable lies. Like, someone can move to different countries or just have genetic origins that are different to where they grew up in.

The ultimate liar wouldn't so easily show that they were lying the way she did in the trial; that is what i found particularly disappointing; her poker face was weak.
