  • There’s nothing like the thrill and excitement of catching a swarm of bees! Especially for a beekeeper! Free bees means you are not spending 150- 200 plus bucks to start a new hive in your bee yard. I try my best to split my hives and manage my bee yard to reduce swarming, but even with a strong hive that overwinters and is split, some hives will swarm no matter what! If a swarm happens from your beeyard, hopefully you will see them land nearby on a congregation spot for a few hours or even a day, before they move on to a new home. If you see a swarm, the best time to get it is asap! It may not be there for long! The problem with catching a swarm from your own beeyard is that the swarm still wants to leave and find a new home! Often after a day or two, your freshly caught swarm has left for a second time!! In this video I share some tips I have learned over the years to keep my caught swarms from leaving my beeyard again!! #bees #homesteading #savethebees #beginningbeekeeping #beekeeperlife#swarmtrap

Hi, I used to watch your channel years ago, but stopped when I had to give up beekeeping. I'm back at beekeeping again this year, so I'm back to watching videos again too, wow, you're channel really took off. Anyway I was thinking a bee vac would have worked wonderfully on that catch.

Thanks for finding me again! Just slow and steady on the channel, and I didn’t make a video for about a year and a half, but missed it, so I’m back. Yes a bee vacuum is a great idea! I’ve had a few friends make them over the years, might have to make one!
