3:04 thats the horn of the Postauto, the yellow busses. It's used to warn drivers on small and curvy roads where you might not see it when driving in the opposite direction as the bus.
My son lives in Switserland right now. He is a fysiotherapist from the Netherlands and found a lucrative job there. To Swiss standards the pay is not so extreme, but compared to the Netherlands it is, he earns about double compared to my income (and I work over 30 years as a nurse). He wanted the adventure and also the opporunity to save some money, so it is working out well. I have been visiting him several times in the past year and I am very impressed by the beauty of this country. He lives close to Luzerne, so I have been there several times and we went to several mountains.
As an American who has lived in Switzerland twice I totally get the sense of awe at how nice it is. Treasure the experience, appreciate the Swiss life. I was fortunate to learn both German and Swiss German simultaneously the 1st time I lived there. I'm really happy for you guys!
The horn you had in the background at 3:00, where you asked what it is: Thats a special horn from the "Postautos" (The yellow buses) that they have in addition to the normal horn. It was used to signal arrival at a stop and sometimes additional information like number of horses (when it still were carriages). Today it's just a nostalgia thing and drivers use it very rarely
In the mountains where the roads are so narrow that one car has to wait for the other to pass the special horn is used to alert that a huge yellow bus is coming so you have enough time to find space to let it pass.
Maaan! Got introduced to you by the german tv show "taff". Fast forward to yesterday when i attended my first ELF game in Wil. All of a sudden you're right there on the field!? Happy to have you in Switzerland buddy. Let me know if you both want to hike someday. I can offer the location "Caumasee" or "Seealpsee". See you next time in Wil again!
You might be travelling on to French Switzerland (Geneva, Lausanne). Beautiful lake, vineyards, mountains. Then to Italian Switzerland with Lugano, Mediterranean climate. Do not forget the Glacier Express from Saint Moritz to Zermatt. Have you seen the Matterhorn?
Wow! All viewers who commented here, seemed hospitable. I’ve been living here in CH for almost 8 years and it feels so good than living in Germany for 23 years before 😂. But still grateful that I can speak and write, the right German language, I still keep struggling understanding Swiss german 😊😅😅😅 Btw, I can proved that Swiss people are cooler and friendlier than the germans😊
One place you absolutely must visit is Canton Ticino. I was born and raised there and it's fantastic. It is one of the two cantons where Italian is spoken and it is a mix of two cultures: Italian and German. If you are interested I could give you a tour!
Nice nice! The scenery looks fantastisch! lol Eons old, steeped in truly humbling beauty! Outside of the U.S., I consider it my number one country I would live in. I trust you to go exploring and feel what it has to offer....some kind of deeply human sense of security in the timelessness of nature! Like a feeling of smallness that brings strength, resiliency and perspective. Also, don't forget to sample the gold, after you have tasted all the chocolate :) Great to see you back! Thank you!
Lucerne basically is "the" tourist destination. I think there's more tourists than locals around there 😂 Come to Zurich for a bit when you get the chance. Or check out the Aare river in Bern on a hot day and swim in the river, it's an adventure (weekends is best, most people go then). You can walk upstream and then jump into the water and float down all the way until the city center. Another really cool thing is to head to Thun, rent a gummi-boat there and float down the Aare river for 3 hours until you reach Bern city where you can easily get out and return the gummi boat. Amazing weekend chill day on the river. Or come on a hike with me to Grindelwald/First ware, very impressive scenery there. 👌
Welcome to CH! by the way, come check out montreux and the Lavaux region. There's the festival in montreux for one more weekend here. Also, ZERMATT!!!!
I'am from graubünden, once you see it... But for you guys, i highly recommend you to visit Greyerz...good cheese, the hr giger museum and a awesome castle
Please let me know where you get a dinner for CHF 75. This is really cheap. And you should visit St. Gallen the main city of the Canton where you do your home games and the lake of Constance, on of the most beautiful places.
I am swiss and I actually live 25 minutes from lucerne in canton Obwalden. If you need some help or a guide for a trip/hike or wanna know something feel free to get in contact, happy to help. 😊 ✌🏻 Oh me and my husband could take you on a sunrise hike in our are beautiful and going to have älplermaggronä
Viel Spaß in der Schweiz und in der ELF. Ich war erst letzte Woche auf Geschäftsreise zu Besuch in Zürich, da mein neuer Arbeitgeber seinen Hauptstandort dort hat.
hey guys I'm patrick from lugano ticino switzerland. you have to come to Ticino the costs are lower and the panorama of our valleys are spectacular... for example Valle Maggia... Verzasca, Leventina or Val Bedretto and obviously also Lugano. Cheers😂pat
hey guys its so nice to have you here in switzerland. you have to visit schaffhausen and the rhine falls (biggest waterfall in europe). btw. loved to see the first W of the guards live in the stadium. GO GUARDS💪
Yeah I mean Lucerne (esp old town/lake) is super touristy. You won't find very many Asians outside the tourist spots (Lucerne, Lauterbrunnen/Berner Oberland, Zermatt...). With your respectful attitude you'll have a great time here. Something a lot of your compatriots could learn from you! 😅
Unfortunately you’re not anymore in Switzerland, otherwise I could show you the Italian part of it, not so known for international tourism, but very well known for the Swiss tourists. Is the right mix between the Swiss quality and the Italian live style. So in case you come back to Switzerland I’ll be glad to show you around it 😉
swiss people are working while all those asian people come to visit the country :D Lucerne is one of the most visited cities for them, they stop by on their way up to the jungfraujoch usually. oh and btw: there isn't just THE swiss german, every Kanton (state) has its own dialect. You should visit Bern, walk all the way up the "berner münster", search all the fountains around the city, visit the "bärengraben", hike up the "Gurten" and go for a swim in the "Marzili-Bad" :D Enjoy your stay!
If you want to come visit Ticino, the southern part of Switzerland (Italian speaking region) just tell me! We can spent some time together and visit around here from a local point of view👍🏻
25% of the people living in Switzerland are foreigners, from the remaining 33% have a migrant background. Swiss people tend not to be as direct as Germans, if they don't like something they will just look at you. For example you are talking to each-other in a train but you are a little bit too loud (normal voice is considered too loud), people will maybe tell their neighbour in a louder than normal voice how noisy some people are when they talk, without addressing you, That's your cue though. So it's veery subtle XD
Wanna see one of the biggest CBD Farms in Switzerland? The little village is also called „home town“ of Obama. He seems to have ancestors here😮. Cheers from the CBD Village
If you order mineral water ypu pay for it but if you order tap water (Hahnenwasser) is for free. And probably in lucerne you fall in all tourismus traps 😅 a bit outside frome the touri hotspots is much cheaper. Still expensive but cheaper 😉
Thank you for the informative video. However: This video suffers of the disease of many youtube videos: superfluous and annoying background music. It's tiring attending to the narration over the background music, masking the topic of the video and mostly adding nothing to the content. Narration or music is fine but one on top of the other is distracting.
Tourism in Switzerland has the problem that many can no longer afford to vacation there. Only rich Chinese tourists can still afford it. A Big Mac costs 7.26 euros in Switzerland, 4.99 euros in Germany. You can say that in Switzerland everything is 50% more expensive than in Germany.
@Silas Nacita , i am one of your long time subscriber and i live in Switzerland too...will you come to visit me oneday? i will cook some delicious meal for us, if you like ;) bless you bro
Since Switzerland is a confederacy, we do NOT have a capital city. Bern is our political and Zürich our financial center. I was born and lived in Luzern for 34 years, but moved near Brunnen, because as you said; too many tourists. I was really happy during the pandemic, having "my town" all for myself and after the tourists came back, I realised how miserable this made me. So I moved to a little bit more "countryside" place half an our away and love it here. So yeah...that's where swiss people at. 😂
Well. you're really being nice! But Switzerland has sucked the hapoiness out of you guys!!! You already sound like swiss.. get back to the land of the free and home of the brave!!
As a former college wrestler (at Cornell) you should definitely try swiss national sport "Schwingen". You would even fit great in their dresses.
