A journey through life is not a level playing field. A redress of what's in it for me forces on cultures through diversion and division, discouragement in the present and does zip to change complementary solutions when self entitlement still raises it's hoary head of cultural bigotry so evident in this interview.
Should the current 600,000 vets living on the streets across the USA also go for reparations because of their fed govt's illegal global wars.

If a person worked for your company in December and in January before that person got paid, he was run over by a bus. Does your company get to keep his paycheck, or do you give the paycheck to his descendants?

A long overdue and thought provoking discussion. Sadly, regardless of the overwhelming merits of the case, in today's United States this is at best an academic exercise and at worst a divisive non started given the political realities that exist within a politically divided nation. I can conceive no circumstances which the US lawmakers would make such a redress. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

Unfortunately there were literally dozens of things they talked about that just weren't true
They seemed to indicate that just like those Japanese Americans held in camps former slaves should also get compensated
The Japanese reparations had some provisions that are important
Only those in the camps got repararions.reparations..
Only those people who were still alive got reparations
Essentially only direct victims were able to collect..
Because there are no former slaves still alive there are no direct victims
Thus nobody is elligible for slavery reparations
In the case of the holocaust...because so many direct victims were murdered...immediate family could receive reparations
In no case were descendants elligible

Actually idiots Jews surviving and descendants are receiving Reparations from the USA for the Holocaust that did not happen here . Barack Obama signed that bill in. 2016 . No task force no studies no public opinion . So stop the BS and cut the checks for not just the free labor but for the crimes sodomy rape lynching kidnapping castration torture etc etc etc . Kind of like how cops murder black people in cold blood on the internet and LIVE and the descendants of that murdered person receive Millions as compensation same shit debt penalty long long overdue.

You’re incorrect the criteria for Japanese reparations also included non Japanese spouses . Though you did admit reparations went to the heirs of Jews in the Holocaust.
You’re also comparing crimes against against humanity that ranged from a couple years to 3 centuries. Multiple generations of people versus a generation. Arguing the legacy of slavery was of no deleterious consequence to the generations after is ignorant (in regards to American history & policy) and borderline malicious.

I will spell it out like Sesame Street.
"I said only those who were in the camps got reparations...a spouse who wasn't in the camp would have received nothing...
I never stated that descendants jews got reparations.. no country has ever paid reparations to descendants...the idea is foolish...Only immediate family if the victim was murdered"
The criteria of reparations for the Japanese wasn't exclusive to those interned but evacuated or demonstrably loss of property. This in includes non-Japanese spouses. In the case of the Holocaust, heirs very specifically were compensated for the loss. Both cases considered parties indirectly affected. An heir is still a descendent. Without these examples we still have natives in both Canada, the US, Australia, and even parts of Meso-America compensated for land theft, broken treaties, and cultural genocide. These people didn't experience direct genocide themselves, but they do have to live with the consequences of it. Hell, the UK finished paying off slave trading families in 2015.
On an individual level there's precedence aswell, a family just got compensated last year for Bruce's beach. This was a property illegally stolen from them a century ago. Saying no country has ever paid reparations to "descendants" is just ignorance of a nations history, you likely live in.
"Reparations have been made to former slaves...in 1865 they owned no land...by 1910 former slaves owned 18 million acres or so.."
Your'e literally talking about things you don't know but could easily look up. There was plan for reparations, but it was only under the Lincoln administration via confiscated land from confederates during reconstruction. Once union troops left said plan was abandoned. Black owned property was property paid for by blacks. And generally it was illegally confiscated through terrorism, and a government that didn't respect their constitutional rights. 90% of that land you're referring to has been lost. l can a test this with my own family's history.
"Apparently some want a do over...
There are others who deserve reparations...because the lincoln administration never paid reparations that's a place to start.. former slave owners should be paid..."
Slave owners were paid for not being traitorous in Delaware and Maryland.
Your morality is backwards, do you have the same opinion for modern day human trafficing?
"There us no place where bp have done better than here..."
Well Black Americans only really exist in the US, there aren't too many control groups to compare for if we would have done better or worse else where. But our success is primarily thanks to us, and advocacy for our rights have always been a minority in the US.
"Perhaps you would choose another destination...arab or south America for example???"
I wouldn't, but for bigger brained reason than your logic follows. I have right to my home country and nation of origin. It's literally in the constitution. It only makes sense to hold my country to said standards.
Now I don't have right to other parts of the world, world citizenship isn't a thing.
Why do you plan to emigrate if your government gives you reason to complain?

Forcing the innocent to pay nonvictims for something that happened to neither of them is not reparations.
Reparations is actual proven victims being compensated by their actual violators.
I don't know of anybody who opposes that.
