Spooky is the type of ghost girl (very common i know) to ask if your refrigerator is running, to then proceed to throw you into her 1000 room + hospital + doll house mansion and tell you to get out of it to tell you the punchline of the joke. Which the punchline is her thowing your refrigerator at you and then saying my bad.
in other words, scrunkly material.

i'd like to be a nerd and say that the games arent made by albino moose studios, they polished the original game to the tops and made the hd version, about the original akuma kira actually made it

This game is fun becuase it starts out with a bunch of joke jumpscares, has a break in the middle to teach you Jungian Psychology, and ends with a being who's implied to be a victim of one of the most horrific war crimes every commited during World War II.
Also, I really like how the cardboard cutouts come back later in the game as a secondary obstacle and try to block your path during a chase scene. Smart game design.
And if you run a lot the change of getting specimen 1 jumpscares is higher.

I know it's been 5 months, but correction, Spooky was not a victim of WWII, she set off fireworks on Halloween to try and be "scary", and that ended up triggering a war veteran's PTSD, who ended up shooting her.

17:32 I like to think this note is implying the man who wrote the note killed the vilolent specimen and replaced him as the old man does use an oversized sickle, so the phenomenon is a cycle of deranged visitors becoming the specimen of the mansion over and over.
And you break that cycle at the end, which is why the mansion becomes lit by green rather than red

Some slight corrections about the developers:
The original game, Spooky's House of Jump Scares and its DLCs were created by a studio (LAG studios) of 2 people, Akuma Kira and AMGSheena.
After that, however, the studio was split up into two other studios: Albino Moose Games (AMGSheena) and Kira LLC (Akuma Kira).
Albino Moose Games worked on the HD version of the game (with Akuma Kira's updated art), as well as the Dollhouse DLC.
Kira LLC worked on their own projects (check them out if you're interested, they're great) and also helped develop Dollhouse DLC.
I geniuenly found lost in vivo scarier than silent hill 2, would recommend.

I remember the unfathomable amount of confidence I gained when you got the axe in the woods. Lowkey felt like a fps until I found out the axe does jack shit to most of the enemies.
And using it on the enemies that it _does_ affect will get you the bad ending if you do it enough...

One thing you should know, all the specimens are based on horror icons, from films, folklore to creepypastas and games! For example, the ghost girl is based on the Japanese ghost stories as well as being based on the Ringo films. the monster that turns into a "worm" (as you called it) is based on the movie The Thing, and the puppet guy is based on Ben Drowned! There are many horror references in the game, an example is the telephone room which is an obvious reference to FNAF!
Specimen 9/The final boss is based on a real-life historic tragedy, Unit 731!

If you're interested in more games like this, Akuma Kira (one of the people who worked on Spooky's) made a game on Steam called Lost in Vivo.
To this day, it's the only game I've played that's genuinely scared me to the point where I had to stop playing for a bit. Extremely well-made.
Literally one of the most terrifying games I played. I still haven't finnished it due how unnerving it was to me.

Specimen 9 is apparently supposed to be a survivor of unit 731 ( if you do not know what that is, search it up.. don't say i didn't warn you. ), despite the tiny fact that _none of the prisoners actually survived._
So yeah, like a fictional game, it's.. fiction. Doesn't make specimen 9 any less cooler, just that it's unrealistic....... because it's fiction.

This game is an absolute classic, i remember first watching an lp of it back when it was still known as 'Spooky's House of Jumpscares' i never understood why they changed the name, i always go back to this game during October, its still the perfect game to play during Halloween season.
iirc it was due to a copyright dispute of some sort? something else was alr called house of jumpscares and the devs just didnt wanna deal with it. might be wrong bout that though.
@@LemonSmug It was a mobile game developer called "Spooky House Studios". I wish that was a joke. They actually claimed that "Spooky's House of Jumpscares" was too similar to their company's name, and started a case over it. That was a real thing that happened in real life, because real people (somehow) had that actually real thought process about those two titles. Utterly insane.
Specimen 6 is a combination of HMS, BEN from BEN DROWNED and the Peanut (SCP-173)
I mean I’d say its more of a trope than solely the SCP. After all, The Peanut was inspired by Weeping Angels from Dr. Who.
FYI Every Specimen has a canon confirmed name, and some are fanmade. But I thought I should give you the canon names, and the most popular fanmade names. And some of them also have references to media, so I'll include those with the Specimen's that reference something.

I can't believe you didn't mention how the majority of the specimens are references to so many horror icons! Specimen 12 is specifically inspired by the "Scissor man" from the game series "Clock tower". There's even a fnaf specimen in endless mode
The thing about Endless Mode is that you have multiple-specimen chase. The rules are also different, with randomized specimen debuts at each 100-room round. And lately, I heard of some of the Dollhouse specimen making their way there too.
Im pretty sure the babys and woormy charles are the specimens that made it into endless
The husks, Woormy Charles, Hooked Doll, and the Clown are the Dollhouse specimens that are in Endless Mode

I never actually saw the original of that car jumpscare video when I was younger, only other people's edits. I had to learn what it was by finding the common thread between all of these (which I failed to do) and ended up believing it was part of the intro to The Shining. Ah, the memories.

Endless Mode is a nightmare because up to 5 can chase you at once, the new specimen are insanely OP, and it has a few achievements attached, have funnnnn!

ANOTHER cutiosity: the "random person" that blocks the train door is actually an enemy from the endless mode, spooper. (He is also the best enemy in the game acording to wambu which i'll belive)

The whole premise is so cool. A mansion with moving rooms that houses many types of monsters to hunt you down is amazing. I love how In endless mode multiple monsters can be after you.
I wouldn't call the love mini game silly, at least to me, it was very disturbing and disgusting to read through. Also the story at the end of kaminara hospital is actually kind of false, as if you play through it again, you can find out that it was spooked father who had ptsd and killed her, he planted the gun on a homeless person and made the weird equipment seen in dollhouse that revived spooky and held these demons in the mortal realm or Smith like thay
Gotta be honest, when I played this game I got scared more times by the Specimen 1 (the silly cardboard things) that the scary monsters themselves.

in spite of having read the specimen documents I am just a little thrown off by the lack of usage of the actual names for the specimens (i.e. ‘The Puppet’ is Ben The Merchant and the ‘ghost girl’ is Ringu) That and the lack of acknowledgment for how everything is a reference and allusion to another horror series/trope. (Specimen 4 being Silent Hill, for example)

Id definitely recommend checking out that arcade machine, its nothing new that you dont find out later, but it makes it clear that spooky definitely did have a story in mind.
I love the fact that he killed the security guard for the hospital before he could even encounter it.
Fun fact, there’s actually a 3rd ending to the dollhouse where, if you don’t interact with the spirit seal and just leave, the red tickle monster will come get you for being so bad at the game you didn’t interact with the obviously story important object

By the way, in regards to the arcade cabinet, theres sometimes a room with a brain in, and later on it will give you a code, that code is for the arcade cabinet, once you input it, it bascilaly gives you spookys backstory on how she died 😄

Idk if you’ve checked out any of Kira’s other games but they have become one of my favorite video game developers I’ve been slowly going through all of their games. But if you prefer horror Lost in Vivo is also a must play if you haven’t played it.

When I played the game, I called it a day before even being hunted by any threats. I was playing the OG Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion (not the HD renovation cause im poor) and turns out: Specimen 1 makes a noise when appearing. Everytime they appeared I had a heart attack

For whoever is wondwring, the code for the arcade machine (given by the brain) shows a cutacene of spooky's back story when inserted. Not like anyone doesn't know her back story at this point
