im a self taught and plateauing since years, because i never learned any rudiments or some techniques. i just played songs, all the time. before the next gigging season (about 40 gigs next to my job) i want to stick the first time on practising rudiments, today was my first time. did singles video at first, now this one. i really felt the burn in my left hand by running through this 3 minute 32th notes. felt good, im def gonna keep it up and share my progress in the next months! (i could keep up, but recognised a sloppy technique on the left)
My only piece of advice is...when you are doing this right (with the correct form) it's effortless and you could probably go much faster without breaking a sweat. If you are stuck on 16th notes and you're pushing harder to get to 32nd, stop pushing that direction and just start experimenting with different sticking techniques instead. Once you have the right technique locked in, its so simple so if if its causing strain (especially in your forearms), that's probably not it, just keep trying new things and you'll have it in no time. It's all a circular writs motion.
This! I been playing for a while and just now went back and finally learned better technique and the ease of it all now. I can play the 3 min perfectly, no effort or strain. Learn technique, feel the rebound, and feel different muscles in fingers. Dont give up! It was literally a Eureka moment!
If you want to feel the burn, practice on a surface with no rebound. Pillows were popular back in the day but I like to use my knees, bc if I screw up, it hurts.
Just keep at the speed you are comfortable with, and practice over and over....eventually, it will get smoother and faster. It just takes time. I had the same issue. Just keep practicing!

What I dont understand about the 32nd Notes and hopefully somebody can clarify, are you using your own arm muscles to play the doubles that fast? Or are you letting the stick bounce for the second hit? Like are you playing the doubles as single strokes really fast?

When I came back to this video like a month later, and was able to do the 32nd notes easily, I genuinely was like "... Is this the same video? Is it dlowed down or something?" Don't give up, it feels great once you get there. Just takes practice. In fact, here is exactly what I did for nearly 3 weeks incase you'd like to know: Before every practice I'd do 15 minutes going inbetween dingles, parddiddles, and doubles. I'd do singles for a minute, then my paradiddle for a minute, then my doubles, and then I'd repeat about 5 times. I did this while at 100 bpm even if it started to get sloppy.
I'm Using The Finger Technique Then Eventually Going To Wrist For The 32nd. But I Don't Know If I'm Doing Correct. I Mean I Can Match The Rhythm But Technique Is Wrong Or Right I Cannot Say. I'm Just On My Day 2.
I have somewhat of the technique down for doubles, im tryning to hit doubles in a single stroke at 32nd notes but it sounds rushed and not as clean, any advice?

I use my wrist mostly and I use my fingers to control speed. My right hand does it naturally, but I had to build the muscle memory on my left hand.
